I only wish that the street was this empty when I was there! |
Hello, and welcome to my interpretation of the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop that my friend Deb from Focused on the Magic hosts each week! This week’s theme is “Disney Weenie”, and I’ll admit, I had to ask her what she meant by that! So, for those that don’t know, a Disney Weenie is what Walt Disney and the Imagineers called an iconic structure that would catch your eye at a distance and draw you in for a closer look.
In today’s post, I’m sharing a different kind of view — an image of Main Street, U.S.A., with Cinderella Castle at the end of the Street. As you can see, this isn’t a photograph, it’s a screen capture directly out of Google Earth. I’m using this as a way to also illustrate that one of the incredible things you can do with Google Earth is use it to navigate at ground-level throughout the parks. I like it because it gives me a quick Disney fix when I’m not able to be at the parks! I hope you enjoyed it as well. Very cool shot! I had no idea they'd done Google Earth pictures in the park! Will definitely be adding that to my list of Disney “fixes” to tide me over between visits.
Wow!! I wish I could get a shot of Main Street like that!!
Wow – I had no idea that you could get that kind of detail on Google Earth – will have to check it out! Wouldn't it be nice to be able to walk around the park when it was empty like that and get photographs without other people in your way?
Love it Mike! The castle is my favorite Disney Weenie! Google Earth is so much fun – I too go there for my Disney fix. Dreaming that Disney World were this uncrowded on my next trip!! Thanks so much for sharing and for joining in on the Disney WW Blog Hop fun:)
Google earth is great to visit new places. Love how they have added 3D to Disney and other locations. Thanks for sharing!
Love this view and so fun to see it so clear. My oldest son loves to explore places with Google Earth :)
That would be the Ultimate Disney Day, wouldn't it Lisa?! Better yet, to have that empty park and be able to hop right on the rides you want too, that would be cool! Google Earth is so cool with the things they have incorporated, if you have trouble finding how to turn that on, shoot me an email to mickey@mydreamsofdisney.com and I'll help out!
If you need help turning on that feature, just shoot me an email to mickey@mydreamsofdisney.com and I'll help. Thanks!
How cool… I never knew you could do that at WDW with Google Earth. I've done it with other places and had lots of fun. What a great way to explore the parks. Thanks for sharing that tip. I now have another way to waste time on my computer – I will never get my laundry finished. TeeHee =)
Thanks for commenting, Lorie! It's not time-wasting — it's Disney Planning! :) Have fun planning!
