Being a Dad, my wife and I have always planned our dining experiences around the type of character interactions we can get for our daughter. Those meals are great and the character autographs and photos make the meal that much better.
As a result, my wife and I have never had a really truly sit-down dinner on our own at Disney, unless you count the time we ate our way around Disney when we were pregnant with Sophie.
So I ask you, where are the best places to eat at Disney without kids around?
I’ve heard some of the best ones mentioned — Le Cellier Steakhouse, California Grill, and I’ve looked at the others online also — but which one should I go with?
The Wave at the Contemporary is a lovely quiet place to eat, with very good food and service.
Coral Reef at the Living Seas in Epcot is also a good place for dinner.
I am Canadian so I do like going to Le Cellier but it can feel a bit cramped, the dining room is small.
Hollywood Brown Derby is pricey and a terrific experience and food, lots to look at a talk about.
Boma at the Animal Kingdom Lodge is great food, a bit noisy but if you get there early you can walk the grounds and the lobby, go to the Sunset terrace and watch them feeding animals.
Chef's du France at Epcot, wonderful, amazing Lobster Bisque, oh and the rest of the meal was good as well.
One of the only really disappointing table service meals I have at at WDW was at Artist Point at the Wilderness Lodge. Very SLOW (fancy?) service, when the meal finally arrived I was too hungry to return my rare steak that was cooked to leather. I was exhausted by the time the meal ended with waiting and waiting for service and the restaurant was NOT busy. I know there are lots of good reviews of the place but I wouldn't go back.
I have had one terrific meal and one poor meal at Shutter's at the Caribbean Beach Resort. Going for a surrey bike ride before dinner was lots of fun.
Have a great trip!

Gaylin,
Thank you so much for your comments! Those are great comments and I will take them to heart because I haven't eaten at any of those restaurants. Based on your review of Artist Point, I think we will certainly mark that off the list! Have a great day, and thanks for reading and writing!
I hope you have a great couple's dinner wherever you go!
If you choose the Coral Reef I can highly recommend the Baileys & Jack Daniel's Mousse for dessert. I don't drink alcohol so don't usually order desserts made with alcohol, I am so glad I had this one, it was so good I didn't share . . .
