I hope you enjoy what we have for you today!
Tower of Terror Trivia!
Did you know, that on this day, in 1994, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror attraction opened on Sunset Boulevard at Disney World’s Disney-MGM Studios. A simulated freefall thrill ride, it is
themed after the popular television series The Twilight Zone, hosted and created by Rod Serling. (The television anthology series originally ran for 156 episodes between 1959-1964.) The Disney attraction takes place in the fictional Hollywood Tower Hotel (itself inspired by the Hollywood Tower, a real structure built in 1929 and named an historic landmark by the US Department of the Interior). The story of the hotel is adapted from elements of the television series, including the hotel being struck by lightning on October 31, 1939 and mysteriously transporting an elevator cart full of passengers to the Twilight Zone!
This is NOT my favorite ride, but a lot of my friends — and Sophie too, for that matter — love it! I do, though, think that it is one of the coolest backstories in all of Disney, and it is so cool that I’ve even got a video to show you related to the ride. If you haven’t seen this, it might just shock you!
Now, come check out the rest of the posts, and thanks for stopping by!

This ride is, far and away, one of my favorites at Walt Disney World. It makes me scream and laugh all at once. :)
It does have a cool story… I wish you could go in it/thru the queue but skip the drop! eek! I’ve only done it once…
Wow that is an awesome video. We love the ride!
I love ToT – backstory & ride! The decor is amazing by itself too!
That was my favorite ride the one time I went to WDW (when I was 10!) I was so glad that they brought a version of it to DCA…but now my stomach is a bit too old for it! haha Thanks for sharing the backstory!
I had no idea the Hollywood Tower Hotel was inspired by a real hotel! How cooL! Tower of Terror is my absolute favorite ride at Disney!
