Jim and Cindy Green are a young, married couple, who have been trying for years to have a baby. Tests have been run, procedures attempted, money has been spent, and to this day, they have not been able to have a child, and their doctor tells them that there is nothing else that they can do.
Sad, depressed, heart broken, the couple returns to Stanleyville, which we don’t realize is in the state I live in, North Carolina! After they complete their day, Cindy breaks down into tears, and decides that it is time to move on. However, Jim isn’t ready to do so, so they start writing down all of the important characteristics that they think their child would have. Honest to a fault is one of them. Love and be loved is another. Would score the championship goal once in a game is another. After they have spent a great deal of time coming up with all of the important character traits their child would have had, they put them in a box, bury it in the garden that Cindy likes to keep, and go to bed.
During the night, a fierce storm whips up, and when they are awoken by thunder and lightning, they discover an adolescent boy — a boy that calls them Mom and Dad, and who goes by the name Timothy. Timothy is unique in that he has leaves on his ankles, and as he experiences different things, a leaf falls off.
The Odd Life of Timothy Green is a poignant story of love and loss, and is one that you will want to see, but also one that you will want to have a Kleenex handy for. My whole family enjoyed it, and we think you will too!
