“Pixie Dust Alert!” for the Walt Disney World Moms Panel Hopefuls!

For days, those of us that have been waiting, watching, and hoping for an email to tell us that we made it to the next round of the 2013 Walt Disney World Moms Panel search have been doing our best to stay distracted and be a functioning part of society.

Today, there was even some confusion, as some people went to the recruiting page, and found out that it appeared that they had made it to round 2!  I was one of those, in fact!  However, at that point, we still didn’t have any official word, so the reliability of that information seemed questionable at best.

But then Laura Spencer, the head of the Walt Disney World Moms Panel, sent out the tweet “Pixie Dust Alert!” — and the chatter just went crazy!

Everyone started checking email, including me, and guess what?  I made it to round two!  The time is now here to answer several questions and record a video, and I have until Monday night to get it done!

For all of you that didn’t make it to the next round, my heart goes out to you.  I know that there are a ton of people that are well qualified to fill the panel’s chairs.  Have faith, though, if you try again next year, you might be able to make it then!

Are you anxious about your Walt Disney World Moms Panel application?

As most of you know, last Friday at 11:59PM the deadline was met for applicants for this years round of people trying to claim one of the coveted seats on the Walt Disney World Moms Panel!  I was fortunate enough to be able to apply again this year.  If you remember, in the first year I didn’t make it out of round one and the second year I made it to round two and the video, but not round three and the phone interviews.  What do you think will happen this year?

If you were one of the ones that applied, I imagine that you are going through much the same anxiety that I am.  The anticipation of being able to apply is replaced with nervousness when you do apply.  Then, after the deadline, it’s “sit around and wait” time while you second guess yourself time and time again on your answers.  Did I provide enough information about me in my 100 word essay?  Did I get the answers right?

Now, all of us prospective moms can do is monitor Facebook, monitor Twitter, especially the hashtag #wdwmoms.  How far do I think I’ll make it this year?  Well, all my life I’ve been an optimistic chap.  I believe the best in people, I believe in my abilities, and I believe that Jesus, my Lord and Savior, is there for me, and I wouldn’t have applied for the Walt Disney World Moms Panel if I didn’t think I would make it.  Does this mean that I will be selected for the Panel?  Of course it doesn’t.  But it does mean that I am confident that I have what it takes to make it.

The biggest thing to me, though, is that I stay true to who I am.  It is an honor to be selected for the Walt Disney World Moms Panel — in fact, it is an honor just to apply — and if I am selected, that will be the culmination of a dream.

So, to all of my fellow Moms Panel Applicants, let me ask you this question: what do you do to keep from thinking about the Moms Panel 24 hours a day?  Let me know in the comments or on Facebook, and thanks!  I’ll see you on Twitter! :)

The 2011 Walt Disney World Moms Panel

Tomorrow morning, at 9:00 AM Eastern time, the Walt Disney World Moms Panel will begin accepting applications for the next round of “Moms”.  In case you aren’t aware, the Moms Panel consists of Moms (and Dads) that have knowledge of Disney World, and are willing to help out those that have questions that need answering.  The Moms Panel started in 2008, and has grown almost exponentially since the launch.  This current year consisted of 24 “Moms”, with two Dads on the panel.  In the past, though, there have been six other Dads on the panel.

Since I found out about the Moms Panel I have been really interested in it.  I have been fortunate enough to actually get three of my questions answered, which you can see here, here, and here.

The beauty of the Moms Panel is as a knowledgebase — a repository of information, links, and all sorts of juicy tidbits for the Disney fan in all of us.  Tomorrow, I plan on applying for the panel, in the hopes that I can help out those that need help as I have been helped.  To all that read this and apply, good luck to you!
