26 Days: Expedition Everest

Expedition Everest

Welcome, my friends, to #Day26 in our #DisneyWorldCountdown!  Today we are looking at the roller coaster that was, until we went to California Adventure last year, my wife’s favorite roller coaster — Expedition Everest!  As it stands, EE has been replaced at the #1 spot by California Screamin’, but Expedition Everest is still #2 in Cindy’s book, and that’s pretty high praise!

The Legend of the Yeti…

Expedition Everest

Do you dare to tackle the Yeti?

Rumor has it that this mountain is hiding a terrible secret.  Word is out that there is a Beast (no, not that Beast) lurking among the snow packed mountain tops; that this is not a safe mountain to be on.  Word on the street is that this mountain is home to the Yeti…

For the bravest of the brave, this is a chance to see that Yeti, a chance to face your deepest fears — and a chance to live to tell the story afterwards!  Do you dare?  Are you brave enough — some would say crazy enough — to try and tame that savage beast?

Expedition Everest

Looks like the Yeti has scared some more thrill-seekers!

These people thought that they could tackle the challenge of the Yeti.  They thought that they could brave the challenge, that they could live up to the test…well, some of them are so scared, they have their hands up in the air screaming! :)

With a whimsical look at Expedition Everest, I’m your My Dreams of Disney writer Mike, wishing you a great day full of Disney fun!  Do you ride Expedition Everest, or do you skip it?   Let me know in the comments, please, and thanks for stopping by today!

Rock 'n' Roller Coaster

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Unplugged!

Rock 'n' Roller Coaster

In this week’s #DisneyTrivia Segment, we look at the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster!

Hello everyone, and welcome to this week’s Tiggerific Tuesday Trivia post!  I’m joined by my friends Heidi from Heidi’s Head and Jodi from Magical Mouse Schoolhouse, and since we looked at the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster for today’s #DisneyWorldCountdown post, we’re going to continue our look at it for this week’s #DisneyTrivia post!  I hope you enjoy our look at some of the unique facts and figures from this great attraction!

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Unplugged

As with all things Disney related, the backstory for this attraction is what sells the park guest on the experience from the beginning.  If the backstory wasn’t so elaborate, it would just be another Universal Studios…here are some unique facts related to this attraction, which is located at Disney’s Hollywood Studios park.

  • Did you know the name of the record label is G-Force Records, and that it is a play on the 4.5 G forces that the roller coaster will put you through?
  • Do you know that the coaster goes from 0-60 MPH in 2.8 seconds?
  • Did you know that the parking garage that you enter into is owned by the Lock ‘n’ Roll Parking Systems company?
  • Did you know that there are six different limos?  Here are their license plates and the music that each one plays (each limo plays a different set of songs):
    • 1QKLIMO plays the song “Nine Lives”
    • UGOBABE plays “Love in an Elevator” and “Walk this Way” — this limo used to have the plate UGOGIRL
    • BUHBYE plays “Young Lust”, “F.I.N.E.”, and “Love in an Elevator”
    • H8TRFFC plays “Back in the Saddle” and “Dude (Looks like a Lady)”
    • 2FAST4U plays “Sweet Emotion”
    • The sixth limo is switched out periodically — it doesn’t have a license plate or soundtrack, and when it is switched, the license plate is put on it and the soundtrack for that plate is programmed.
  • Each limo has 5 speakers per seat, and their are 24 seats per limo, so a total of 120 speakers per limo.

I know that this is one of my favorite attractions, and with all of the backstory, I really do think that it adds that much more to the attraction.  What do you think?  Let me know in the comments, and thanks for stopping by!  Don’t forget to check the rest of the entries out — just click on the images below!

Mission Space

49 Days: Mission SPACE

Hello everyone, and welcome to #Day49 in our #DisneyWorldCountdown series!  We’ve seen some of everything so far, and today we are taking a look at Mission: Space – the pavilion in Future World that is also home to the attraction that simulates your launch into space!  The picture above is courtesy our friends at Disney Parks, and the red line you see is the actual trail of the SpaceX Rocket that launched to go to the International Space Station in 2012.  The photographer, Matt Stroshane, did an incredible job capturing the real life launch with the attraction, didn’t he?

I’ll be honest with you — I’ve never ridden Mission SPACE.  I think it comes down to me being a chicken, in the end.  I don’t like a ride that has a barf bag on board (sorry for the crassness of my statement) and I’ve also heard of people having medical difficulties during or after riding, so I thought to myself, it’s not worth it.  However, my good friend Neal took his daughter River on it, and they had a great time!  River was very into making sure that everyone did the job they were supposed to do so there wouldn’t be any problems getting to space, and Neal, even though he can’t ride roller coasters because of his back, did ride this and had no side affects whatsoever.  So, I guess since a six year old is tough enough to try it, I might try it too…

But enough about me — what about you?  Do you and your family like Mission SPACE, or do you skip it in your pursuit for something else?  Let me know in the comments, and thank you for stopping by today!

17 Days til Disneyland – California Screamin’!

Today we are looking at California Screamin’ — that crazy fast roller coaster located at Paradise Pier in Disney’s California Adventure!  Today is Day 17 in our countdown to Disneyland, and with each day counted down, we are getting closer and closer to the date we leave for our trip!  I can’t wait!

In order to ride the attraction, you have to be at least 48″ tall.  I hope you all are and can enjoy this, because California Screamin’ is the fastest and longest roller coaster in all of Disneyland Resort!

This roller coaster reminds me of the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios park in Walt Disney World, but I think it’s primarily because of the speed and the loops.  A lot of Disney roller coasters don’t have loops on them, so the ones that do I believe kind of stick together in my mind.

What do you all think of California Screamin’?  Are you fans of the roller coasters, or do you skip by them?  Let me know in the comments please, and get ready for blast off!

Wordless Wednesday – the Wild Side of Disney!

Hello everyone, and welcome to this week’s Wordless Wednesday!  The theme this week is the Wild Side of Disney, and while I can’t claim to have anything even remotely near the wild side — especially with a young daughter — I can share with you some photos of some of my favorite wild rides.  I hope you enjoy!
