93 Days til Disneyland – Pirates of the Caribbean!

Today, my friends, is Day 93 in our countdown til Disneyland!  While I didn’t know this until yesterday, I still find it ironic that yesterday was the 46th anniversary of Pirates of the Caribbean opening at Disneyland!  I had done this countdown list over two weeks ago (the order, not all the posts, mind you) so it is entirely coincidental that my pick for today is Pirates, the day after it’s anniversary (as I illustrated in my Tiggerific Tuesday Trivia post last night).

As I’ve said many times, Pirates of the Caribbean is one of my favorite attractions at Walt Disney World, so it stands to reason that I’m going to like the Disneyland version just as much, if not more, then the Disney World version.  I can tell you right now that one thing I am definitely doing is experiencing lunch or dinner at the Blue Bayou, that restaurant in New Orleans Square that has seating overlooking part of the ride.  I can’t wait!

So, for those of you that have been to both parks, and ridden Pirates at both parks, which one do you like better?  Why not tell me in the comments, please?  Thanks!

97 Days til Disneyland – Disneyland Monorail!

For Day 97 of our countdown to Disneyland, we are looking at the Disneyland Monorail! There are some very key differences between the Disneyland and Disney World versions of the Monorail, with perhaps the biggest difference in my opinion being that the Disneyland version still allows you ride up front!

Another thing that is cool about the Disneyland Monorail is that it provides some really great views of some of the areas at Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure.  You can ride it as a means of transportation to take you from one location to another, or you can ride it as a way to relax and enjoy the views.  Take your pick.

The ride is 13 minutes long, and will take you to parts of Fantasyland and Tomorrowland in Disneyland, and Condor Flats, Buena Vista Street, and Hollywood Land in Disney’s California Adventure.

The Disneyland Monorail opened on June 14, 1959, the Monorail was the first of it’s kind in America.  Walt Disney saw the prototype for this form of transportation when he was visiting Germany in the early 50’s, and brought the idea to Disneyland.

I can’t wait until we get to Disneyland and are able to ride the Monorail!  This is something that I am really interested in, and I can’t wait!  Only 97 Days til Disneyland!

100 Days til Disneyland – Matterhorn Bobsleds!

Welcome to the inaugural post for our 100 Days til Disneyland series!  It is hard to believe for us, but in 100 days we will be at Disneyland!!!  I have an ambitious project — to post a different thing we are looking forward to each day for the next 100 days!  Do you think I can do it?  Well, we’ll find out, but I’m certainly looking forward to the challenge!

Today’s post is a look at the Matterhorn Bobsleds.  Did you know that the Matterhorn Bobsleds only exists at Disneyland — no other park has the attraction!  Also, did you know that this attraction is located right on the line between Fantasyland and Tomorrowland, and that it actually has two tracks, and two different queues — one in Fantasyland, and the other in Tomorrowland?

Also, the Fantasyland track is longer then the Tomorrowland track, and this roller coaster, which opened in 1959, is the first tubular steel continuous track roller coaster ever constructed!

So tell me, please: what do you think of the Matterhorn Bobsleds?  Worth the ride, take it or leave it, or what?  Also, do you have a favorite track?  I’ve heard that depending on the time, only one track may be open at a time.  Which track is normally the one open, or does it vary?  I love comments, please feel free to leave one, and thanks for stopping by!

Wordless Wednesday – March Calendar Shot

Beach and Yacht Clubs

Hello everyone, and welcome to this week’s Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop post!  My friend Deb from Focused on the Magic hosts this series, and for this week, we are sharing our March Calendar photo.

Looking at this photo provides such a calming affect on me — I feel as if I was just relaxing at the Boardwalk right now, enjoying the sunset that is approaching over the majestic water.  I don’t know if this photo speaks “March” to me, really, but it certainly does speak “vacation” loud and clear!

Truthfully, we have never visited Walt Disney World in March, so the best I can do is to imagine what it would be like, but I think this is a good shot for any time of the year!

I’ll share some honorable mentions here also, tell me what photo is your favorite please!  Thanks for stopping by!

Wordless Wednesday: Celebrations!

Welcome to this week’s edition of the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop!  My friend Deb from Focused on the Magic puts this shindig on every week, and for this week, her theme is Celebrations!  After the events of yesterday, celebrating Christmas, Jesus’ Birthday, and opening presents from family and friends, the countdown is on!

Yesterday, Sophie officially learned that we have reservations at the Villas at the Grand Californian Hotel & Spa!  We check in on June 20, 2013, and return on June 27, 2013!  That is just 176 days on our countdown calendar, so planning will begin in earnest from now on!  Yesterday we watched the Disneyland Planning Video, which was part of the Christmas gift that announced the trip, and that’s just the start!

Purchasing plane tickets, deciding on how many days of park tickets we want, figuring out our dining reservations we want to make, these are just a few of the decisions we need to make!  Stay tuned and plan along with us as we explore the depth of planning that we need for our first trip to Disneyland!
