Magic Kingdom Attraction Guide – Main Street Vehicles

Welcome to the Magic Kingdom Attraction Guide!  In this series, we are going to work through each of the six Lands that make up the Magic Kingdom, so starting us off, we’re going to look at the attractions of Main Street, U.S.A.  Kicking us off is the Main Street Vehicles!  Here is all of the relevant information that you need to determine if this Attraction is for you.

Attraction Name: Main Street Vehicles
Attraction Type: Slow Ride
Height Requirements: None
Location: Main Street, U.S.A.
Hours of Operation: Varies, but usually just a couple of hours early in the morning.
FastPass+: Not Available

In addition to the early style Fire Truck that you see above, the mode of transportation can also be via a Horse-Drawn Street Car, a Jitney (this is an early automobile without a roof), or via Omnibus, which is an open air double decker bus.  This attraction has limited hours because of the crowds that can clog traffic on Main Street as the park gets busier.

This is a one-way means of transportation, starting at either Town Square or in front of Cinderella Castle, so you can get on at one of the stops but you are required to get off unless there is nobody waiting to get on.

For my family, this isn’t something that we often see, but I can see us doing this one morning when we are visiting.  I don’t see us needing to experience it more than once.  What do you think?  Let me know in the comments, and thanks!

Main Street Electrical Parade

5 Days: Main Street Electrical Parade

Main Street Electrical Parade

The Main Street Electrical Parade is my favorite parade at any Disney park!

Hello everyone, and welcome to #Day5 in our #DisneyWorldCountdown!  Today we are taking a look at the Main Street Electrical Parade, without a doubt the best parade I’ve seen so far at any Disney park.  I haven’t experienced the Festival of Fantasy Parade yet, and that may very well become my new favorite, but when it comes to this parade, it has it all!  It brings me back in time to when I was a kid and saw this parade; the music is great in my opinion, and the new lighting is so much brighter than the old floats, it is just a really great parade for me.

To Honor America is a patriotic float in the Main Street Electrical Parade.

The “To Honor America” float at the Main Street Electrical Parade is the last float of the parade, and it truly brings a patriotic flair to the closing of the parade.  It is such a great look, but the bald eagle at the end is phenomenal!  Here’s a close up shot of it for you to enjoy!

What is your impression of the Main Street Electrical Parade?  Do you like it or skip it, or do you see it every night you are at the Magic Kingdom?  Let me know in the comments below, and thanks for stopping by!

Wordless Wednesday – Disney Parades!

Hello everyone, and welcome to this week’s Wordless Wednesday post!  I would like to thank my friend Deb from Focused on the Magic for hosting this great series, I’ve been absent the past two weeks as things caught up with me, but today, I’m back and ready to enjoy this week’s series of posts!  The theme this week is Parades!  There are some great Disney parades out there, and I thought I would start with one that we saw way back on June 18, 2008 — nearly six years ago!  What I really like about the Main Street Family Fun Day Parade is that you get a great shot of the Fire Engine, and even better shots of Daisy Duck, that sassy duck that you don’t see that often in the parks!  Here’s another shot of her that I think you’ll enjoy as well!

Of course, in my opinion, nothing compares to this parade — the Main Street Electrical Parade!  I know that some of you love it, and some of you don’t, but for me, it is my favorite!

I’m having a memory cramp and can’t remember what the name of this parade is, so if you know, please let me know in the comments.  What I do know, though, is that it had some great floats and characters to take pictures of!

For me, I think my favorite character is Minnie Mouse — and this picture of her was taken from the parade that we going by the Liberty Tree Tavern right after we finished lunch there.  It was Disney Magic at it’s finest, and I was fortunate to be able to get the picture!

In a seldom seen character shot, Jiminy Cricket was holding balloons as he marched along Main Street, U.S.A., as part of the procession of champions for the 40th Anniversary of the opening of Walt Disney World!  It was great fun to see him and the other characters!

Last, but certainly not least by any stretch, I’m sharing a picture with you from the Pixar Pals Parade over at Disney’s California Adventure Park.  I can’t believe it’s already been seven months since we were at Disneyland!  The time has flown by way too fast, but at least we are fast approaching our next trip in June!

Tiggerific Tuesday Trivia – Disney Legends 1992

Today marks the 21st Anniversary of the Disney Legend Class of 1992!

Today marks the 21st Anniversary of the Disney Legend Class of 1992!

Hello everyone, and welcome to Tiggerific Tuesday Trivia!  Today we are getting an early jump on our trivia, by taking a look at what happened in Disney History for October 21st and 22nd!

Did you know…

That, on this day in 1992, the Disney Legends Class of 1992 was inducted?  This class, headlined (in my opinion) by Annette Funicello, featured the following Disney Legends (shown in alphabetical order):

  • Jimmie Dodd – Television Actor (given posthumously); Adult Mouseketeer & musician
  • Bill Evans – Imagineering; horticulturist & landscape specialist
  • Annette Funicello – Film & Television Actress; everyone’s favorite Mouseketeer
  • Joe Grant – Animation; story artist
  • Jack Hannah – Animation; director of TV shows and films
  • Winston Hibler – Film (given posthumously); narrator, writer & director
  • Ken O’Connor – Animation & Imagineering; genius layout artist and art director
  • Roy Williams – Animation & Television Actor (given posthumously); the Big Mooseketeer

 October 22, 1942…

Continuing our emphasis on Annette Funicello, did you know that on October 22, 1942, Annette Funicello was born?

Actress/singer and original Mouseketeer Annette Funicello is born in Utica, New York. She and her family moved to Southern California in 1946. Walt Disney first saw 12-year-old Funicello dancing the lead in Swan Lake at the Starlight Bowl in Burbank, California, and later invited her to audition for his new children’s show, Mickey Mouse Club. She was a featured Mouseketeer on the hit series and took part (along with the other original Mouseketeers) in Disneyland’s grand opening in 1955. She later starred in several Disney features, including The Shaggy Dog, Babes in Toyland, The Misadventures of Merlin Jones, and The Monkey’s Uncle. Her Disney television credits included Zorro, Elfego Baca and The Horsemasters. As an adult, Funicello was one of many celebrities who took part in Walt Disney World’s three-day opening festivities in October 1971. In 1977, Funicello guest starred as the Blue Fairy in Disneyland’s Main Street Electrical Parade! Named a Disney Legend in 1992, her autobiography A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes: My Story was published two years later.

Special thanks, as always, to my co-hosts Jodi from Magical Mouse Schoolhouse, Jenn from Disney Babies Blog, and Heidi from Heidi’s Head!  Come click on their links to read all about their great Disney Trivia, and thanks for stopping by!

My idea of The Good Life

The Good Life

The Good Life…three simple words that can mean so much.  What do you think of when you hear people talking about The Good Life?

Of course, in the context of the picture above, the natural tendency is to think of Disney related things that, added up, comprise the good life.  Of course, this is not always the case.  I thought in this post we would take a look at some of the layers to the onion that I am that make the life I’m living The Good Life.  I hope you enjoy, and will take the time to comment and let me know what your ideas are for the good life!  Thanks for stopping by!
