30 Days: Garden Grill Restaurant

Garden Grill Restaurant

The Garden Grill Restaurant is our selection for #Day30 in our #DisneyWorldCountdown!

Hello everyone, and welcome to #Day30 in our #DisneyWorldCountdown!  Today we are taking a look at one of my favorite restaurants in all of Disney — the Garden Grill Restaurant, located inside the Land Pavilion at Epcot’s Future World.  This restaurant is situated above the Living with the Land Boat ride, and the restaurant slowly spins  so that you can see all of the outdoor seasons that are depicted in the ride below.  It’s a lot of fun, and my family eats here almost every trip.

I love just about everything that this restaurant represents — great food, a unique twist (no pun intended) with the revolving restaurant, character interactions with Chip and Dale, and Mickey Mouse and Pluto, and wholesome vegetables that are prepared from vegetables that are grown right below the restaurant in the hydroponic greenhouses that are part of the tour (among other places).  All in all, this restaurant is at the top of the list for me.

The Garden Grill Restaurant features Chip & Dale and usually includes Mickey Mouse & Pluto too!

As you can see, Mickey Mouse loves to have his picture taken with Guests!

The menu at the Garden Grill is diverse.  Everything is served family style, with a beef dish and accompanying vegetables, a turkey dish with accompanying vegetables, a fish dish with accompanying vegetables, a great salad, wonderful warm bread with an orange honey butter, and a wonderful dessert!  Yummy!  Here is the menu in case you wish to check it out for yourself.

The Garden Grill Restaurant is also on the Disney Dining Plan, and costs just one table service credit per person.  Additionally, they do accept the Tables in Wonderland discount card as well.

What do you think of the restaurant?  Have you ever eaten there before?  Let me know in the comments, and thanks for stopping by!

Living with the Land

74 Days: Living with the Land

Living with the Land

Living with the Land – #Day74 in our #DisneyWorldCountdown

Hello everyone, and welcome to today’s #DisneyWorldCountdown post!  Today is #Day74, and for this day, we are taking a look at the boat ride underneath the Garden Grill Restaurant called Living with the Land.  Like many things at Epcot, this boat ride is both entertaining to ride — well, for me anyway — and also educational as well, as you get a chance to see how some of the vegetables and fruits are grown for consumption in some of the Walt Disney World restaurants.

The Living with the Land boat ride used to be narrated by a Cast Member — in fact, one of my best friends was the narrater during her stint in the Disney College Program back in the mid 1990s — but now, the boat ride is narrated with audio only via an intercom type system, not with a Cast Member.  Still, the ride is a good time for relaxation, and well worth your time — especially if you have a few minutes before your Garden Grill reservation or Soarin’ FastPass+ time.

What I like is how they talk about the different seasons, and to me, it almost feels like I’m put in the middle of the scenes from the Wizard of Oz, with the great old house, the plains, and all the rest.  I also think it is really neat that the Garden Grill Restaurant overtop us slowly spins and shows it’s patrons the same scenes that we see from the boat ride, with the exception of the horticulture scenes inside the big Greenhouse areas.

I don’t know about you, but I really enjoy Living with the Land.  Do you?  Let me know in the comments below, and thanks for stopping by as we explore Living with the Land!  In closing, have a look at this giant pumpkin!

Epcot Future World — The Land

Hello everyone, and welcome back to our look at the pavilions at Epcot Future World!  The first pavilion we took a look at was Spaceship Earth, and now, we’re moving on to look at The Land, which is my second favorite pavilion in all of Future World!  This location has some of the best attractions, food, and decor, and it’s a great place to hang out and just people watch!

The Garden Grill Restaurant is, without a doubt, one of my favorite restaurants in all of Walt Disney World!  This circular restaurant is on a special platform that slowly rotates while you eat, showing you a view of all of the scenes in the boat ride “Living with the Land”.  The menu consists of a family-style layout featuring the following great dishes:

  • Char-grilled Filet of Beef
  • Roasted All-Natural Turkey Breast
  • Sustainable Fish of the Day

In addition to that, you also get warm bread, a special salad, and side dishes of garden fresh vegetables, butter mashed potatoes, and Artisan bread pudding.  Lastly, to top off the meal, a harvest skillet cake is served.  All told, it is a yummy dining experience, and even includes visits from Chip & Dale, Mickey, and Pluto!

Sunshine Seasons

Rounding out the dining options at The Land is Sunshine Seasons, an absolutely incredible quick-service dining option.  Within this market setting you’ll find hot meals, sandwiches, sushi, salads, kids meals, and on and on and on.  They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  Some of the incredible options include the following:

  • Chicken, Fish, and Pork Chop offerings
  • Asian cuisine including Mongolian Beef, Sweet and Sour Chicken, and Spicy Cashew Chicken
  • Turkey, Vegetable, and Steak sandwiches.

The offerings at this location are incredible, and well worth visiting.

Soarin’

In addition to the great dining options, my wife’s favorite ride at Walt Disney World is located at The Land Pavilion.  Of course I’m talking about Soarin’.  The funny thing about Soarin’ is that it used to give me the worst case of motion sickness — not necessarily a sickness like I need a bag, but I definitely felt like something was wrong.  As a result, I didn’t ride this great ride very often.  Now, though, I’m over whatever it was that was bothering me, and I have no problem riding Soarin’ — even from the highest seat!  Let me know what you think of Soarin’ in the comments below, and thanks!

In Living with the Land, this boat ride takes you through some great scenery, but also explores all that The Land does to improve on how crops can be grown throughout the world.  My friend Joy was a part of the Disney College Program way back in the 1990s, and she was actually one of the boat narraters back when they had Cast Members accompany the boats.  This is certainly not a thrill ride like Soarin’, but it definitely is up there on my list of things to do once because of all the neat things you learn — and who knows, you might even see this big pumpkin!

Circle of Life

IMG_1100

The Circle of Life is a short documentary film that incorporates the characters from the Lion King, Simba, Timon, and Pumba, and talks about all of the things that we humans do to pollute the environment.  I’ve seen this film a couple of times, but truth be told, it isn’t something I’m all that interested in simply because it opens a whole in the Disney World and takes me right back to the real world — and that’s not what I want to do when I visit Walt Disney World!

I hope you have enjoyed your look at The Land Pavilion in Epcot’s Future World!  For those unsure where it is, here is an image of where it is located so you can find it!
