Prayers for the Week – Back To School

back to school

Hello everyone, and welcome to this week’s Prayers for the Week post.  For many of you, your children are getting ready — or already have — gone back to school, and while we don’t go back to school for another week, it seems appropriate that we mention the changes that come to so many of us, and to offer up our prayers for a successful school year.  This week we have incorporated a new email address for you — if you want to email us your prayer requests, please feel free to do so by emailing prayer@mydreamsofdisney.com.

My friend Bob penned this on Facebook the other day in anticipation of school starting back up, and I think it speaks volumes for us, regardless of whether you are a parent, student, teacher, just starting out, finishing up, or somewhere in between.  Here is what Bob wrote:

To all the students starting school, be appreciative of the freedom you have to learn. Some children are not as fortunate. Be proud of who you are and believe in yourself. Be kind to those you meet. Some of your peers may be struggling to make friends or struggling with their own insecurities. If you see someone being bullied or picked on because he/she may seem a little different, step in and do what you know is right. Say “hi” or smile at them in the hallway. You never know what that person might be facing outside of school or battling inside. Your small act of kindness may make a BIG difference in someone’s life this school year!

To all the teachers, both new and “seasoned,” know that you have been called to the teaching profession for a reason. The minds and hearts of the students you teach will forever be changed. You have been given the chance to be an influence and an inspiration to your students. As hard as it is to deal with the politics of school systems and new policies, just remember why you are there—to educate and provide a safe environment for the young people you have been given. What you offer them today may have a lifelong impact on who they become.

To all the parents sending your little ones off to school for the first time, stay strong. I know it’s hard. You can cry as soon as you get back to your car or walk back inside. Your kids will be fine. The excellent women and men who will be teaching them this year will pour into their little minds and hearts.

For those of you with children starting middle school or high school, stay positive and encourage your child. Build them up and be available when they need you. This is a big step and there will be trials. However, your children will succeed with the support of you, their friends, and their teachers.

To the parents of seniors, this year is critical for your child. The journey to college is exciting and challenging. Enjoy the time you have with your senior and get involved in their lives if you are not already. As much as they may seem like they don’t need or want you, they do. Check in on them and ask about their studies and their lives. Be present.

Good luck this year, and know that each of you have my thoughts, prayers, and support. Have a great school year, everyone!

Thank you, Bob, for sharing such wonderful words of wisdom to all of us that are involved in the school process.

Prayer Requests and Praises…

  • Prayers for my friend Hiro Mi and her baby! Here is what she wrote on Twitter:For my baby due December 13. That is so nice u are doing prayer requests on social media. Will pray for u, Cindy & Sophie 2Thanks, Hiromi! I’ll lift you up for a safe and smooth pregnancy, delivery, and I look forward to giving God praise for your baby!
  • Continued prayers for Katy. Here is the latest via my friend Kuleen:Update from Katy’s Mom:
Katy had a quiet day… No big changes… Still peeing… Working towards weaning the vent and getting her extubated. Patrick came to visit today and did really well seeing her so sick. Mike and I are blessed with two amazing children. Patrick was so caring and asked appropriate questions. He wanted to know how everything worked.
  • Prayers for my friend Tara and her husband Scott. They recently lost their cat. Here is what she wrote on FB:
Scott and I had to say our final goodbyes to our sweet cat Forest on Friday. He was with me for 18 years (longer than most but not even close to long enough). I know many of you knew him so I decided to share the info here on Facebook or at least you know our completely ridiculous attachment (I know!) to our animals so this was the hardest thing I have ever had to do. I am SO appreciative of all of you guys kind words and prayers to both of us. It was a horrible experience but just knowing he is now in peace makes it easier (well maybe one day it will :)). RIP my sweet Forest…you were the BEST kitty cat ever. Please pray for their comfort moving on — our pets are part of our family too!
  • When it comes to Praises, sometimes the best praises are the ones that we associate with our Grandma. Here is a praise that my great friend Torri posted:My grandmother doesn’t have much (really nothing at all). Today she received $10 in the mail from one of her friends. She hands me the money and with tears in her eyes, asks me to give it to a family in our church who is going through an excruciating time. She says, “I know it’s not much and I wish I had more, but it’s all I have”.This is how she has lived her entire life. I wanna be just like her.God Bless Torri’s Grandmother, and all of the Grandmothers out there. They are treasures that we should never forget.
    • Thanks for sharing Mike! Reminds me so much of the Widow in the Bible who didn’t have much, but she gave it all. Oh that we would all have such giving hearts! ~ Torri
  • My friend Lin has a prayer request. Here is what she wrote:
May I ask for a prayer? A family in the community I teach in has suffered a terrible tragedy. Parents Ryan and Elena were murdered in their home early yesterday morning. Their 16 year old son was arrested and charged, and all of this occurred while the remaining family members were apparently asleep. I knew this family, only in passing, but their daughter went on one of the theatre trips I organized and chaperoned to Walt Disney World. She was a sophomore then I believe and would have graduated this past June. Her parents were such sweet people. I simply cannot imagine what she and her remaining brother and sister are dealing with right now. Please pray for their strength and resolve as they do their best to cope with the situation. My heart just breaks. Please pray with me:Heavenly Father, the senseless brutality that this poor family has experienced – possibly from their own son — is beyond our ability to comprehend. Lord, at this point we pray for the children. We don’t know what will become of them, we don’t know if their parents were saved and are with you in Heaven, and we don’t know what will become of the one that committed the acts of violence, but here’s what we do know. We know that You are in control, and that, as horrific as this situation is, You are there to comfort the children. You are there to give them Your Peace. You are there to give them Your Strength. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, You are there to give them Your Love. Please help them, Lord. Please keep them safe from further harm, and Lord, bring into their lives the ones that will be there to help them in the days, weeks, months, and even years ahead. We ask all of these things in the healing name of Your Son Jesus, who lived and died for us on the cross. It is in His name we pray. Amen.
  • My friend Kuleen shares the latest update on Rockstar Katy:LONG update on Katy:
Let’s start with the positives… Katy has been able to successful wean down on her vent settings… has tolerated significant weans in her sedation meds. These are all things that need to be done to move towards extubation… our hope was to extubate Katy and give her LVAD a chance to work at its full capacity and that alone would be enough to help her kidneys recover.Unfortunately Katy’s kidneys are failing fast…and the fear is that we no longer have the time to wait and see if the extubation plan will work.
Mike and I are having to make decisions that no parent should ever have to make. Katy is in a very tough spot and there is very little left that can be done for her. She really needs to turn the corner and turn it fast. We have to make sure that we give her the best chance possible to do that while still being very aware of her quality of life and making sure we are not prolonging the inevitable. Katy’s love of life, happiness and comfort is front and center as we make these horrible life and death decisions… all the while trying not to lose hope.
With all that said… tomorrow Katy wlll be headed to the cath lab to have an ASD made… basically putting a hole in her right heart to open communication between the right and left ventricles. The hope being that it will lower the pressures in her right ventricle. All sounds good in theory but it has never been done…not here not anywhere! It is basically a last ditch effort… that sounds like it will work in theory. It is a very precise procedure because they can’t make the hole too big or her 02 sats would be much too low due to too much oxygenated blood going through… and if it is too small the hole will close on its own. While they are in the cath lab they will place the dialysis catheter so that if need be they can get fluid off that way and filter toxins as needed. We hope that these maneuvers will give Katy’s kidneys the boost they need to recover and make it to extubation. There are just no other options to try. Everyone please keep praying for our little Rockstar. . .Please pray for her fervently! My fear is that this may come to a big climax really soon, so please keep praying for her. Please pray with me:Heavenly Father, we have seen so much death and loss this week. Please care for Katy, and if it is Your Will, please keep her from suffering the same fate as some others have. Lord, please show Your Miraculous Power by healing Katy, and lifting her up as an example of what loving Jesus can mean in your life. However, it is Your Will, not ours, that matters here. Lord, hear our prayer. It is in the name of Your Son Jesus that we pray with Thanksgiving. Amen.

    • My friend Beth has a reply.  Here is what she wrote:
I hate that any parent has to deal with this. My heart is heavy. I pray for the doctors, nurses, Katy, her friends and family.
  • Today we give Praise to God for the successful birth of Kennedy, the daughter of my niece Leslie and her husband Matt. Please pray for them, that there would be nothing keeping them from leaving the hospital in time, and that they would get the patience they need from God to see them through the good times and the bad times that raising a child will bring. Thank you everyone!
    • My friend Beth left a reply for this request too.  Here is what she wrote (thanks Beth!):
Yea for babies! I’ll be praying for all of your family, health, adjustments, sleep and peace! :)
  • Please pray for my friend Jodi and her friend and family. She learned some really bad news that has her in tears. Please pray for God’s Peace, Comfort, Strength, Mercy, and Love to descend upon Jodi and her friend and their family in their time of grief.
  • As many of you saw, this past Monday was our 14th Wedding anniversary.  I wrote a special post for her, but I also want to give God all the Glory for putting Cindy and I together and enabling us to have Sophie and love her, raising her in a loving Christian home.  Please give thanks to God for your loved ones, and tell them you love them every day.
  • Lastly, this past Monday the world lost one of the people that brought so much laughter to so many, and so much kindness and love to so many other people less fortunate than him.  At this time, we continue our prayers for the salvation of Robin Williams, and continue our prayers for all of his family and friends that lost him, especially his wife and children.  We also pray for all of those that suffer from the same problems that Robin did, and pray that they would seek out the help that they need.  If you need to talk to someone, if you are considering doing what Robin did, please call someone.  The phone number for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is 800-273-8255. The call is free, and it may save your life.  Also, if you would rather, feel free to email our prayer request email address at prayer@mydreamsofdisney.com.

Lastly my friends, my brothers and sisters, let’s pray the prayer that Jesus taught us to pray:

Our Father, who art in Heaven,
Hallowed by Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come, thy Will be done,
On earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those that trespass against us.

Lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For thine is the Kingdom, and the Power, and the Glory
Forever and ever. Amen.

Prayers for the Week – Isaiah 41:10

Isaiah 41:10

Hello my friends, and thank you for stopping by today and joining in on our Prayers for the Week post.  This weekly post is our way to help you with the prayer requests and praises that you have, and I am glad that I am able to compile these for you.  Please take the time to read all the way through our post, as we have a lot of prayer requests for today.

I’ve been led to share with you a very powerful verse — one of my favorites, from the book of Isaiah in the Old Testament.

10fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. ~ Isaiah 41:10 (ESV)

My friends, there is a lot of fear going on in the world today.  Fear over what is going on with our children, fear over what is happening with the world, with our military in Iraq, with the turmoil between Israel and Hamas, and fear with what is going on with our jobs.  In all of this, I urge you to remember that we are not alone — that if we turn to God, He will help us out.  His help may not be the help we are looking for, but His plan for us is perfect, while our plan for ourselves is often flawed.  My friends, please read and pray for these requests, and remember, in our praying, God is with us.

Prayer Requests and Praises…

  • Good news from my friend Amanda about her husband Daniel’s condition. Here is what she writes:Another short update! Daniel is doing very well. If everything stays on track, he may be discharged sometime this week – so a few days earlier than anticipated. The liver is doing great and has thus far stayed out of the danger zone! The surgeon was able to get negative margins on the tumor so we think they got it all. I’ll send another update when we get the discharge papers unless something changes between now and then.
THANK YOU for all of your prayers! I’m feeling like I may have gotten my miracle you all helped me pray for! And I have no doubt all of us praying is what got it done! God is great!
  • Prayers for my friend Heather, whose husband Adam lost his father. Here is what she wrote:Adam’s Dad went to his Heavenly home early this morning peacefully at his home surrounded by family. Please continue to pray for the family. We will have a memorial service and we will post the info when it is planned. Thanks for all the prayers. He will be missed by many but we know that he is rejoicing with God and we will see him again. Please pray for God’s Peace, Comfort, Mercy, and Strength to descend upon them in their time of grief.
  • Ed has a prayer request for us to pray over. Here is what he wrote on FB:
I don’t think anyone here knows, but for the last year, my mother has been fighting cancer and my sister and I have been her caregivers. The last few days have been difficult, and today in agreement with Hospice we are just going to make her comfortable and let things run their course. I am asking for your support during this trying time for my family. Here is my reply to him:
Ed, I will definitely be praying for you and your mother and sister (all of your family, for that matter). I’ll pray for God’s Peace to descend upon you all, for God’s Comfort to take care of your Mom, for God’s Strength to see you all through this, and lastly, for God’s Love to remind you all of all the love that you share, and to remember the great memories you have. I will also include this with my prayer warriors too so they can lift you up also. Please pray for Ed and his family in their time of trial. Thank you!

    • Ed informed us that his Mom passed away this morning. Please continue to pray for Ed and his family, for their strength in the coming days, weeks, and months, as they learn the impact of what it is like not having their Mom there, and that God’s Peace and Comfort would blanket them in their time of sorrow.
      Thanks, everyone.
  • My good friend Brooke needs prayers. We don’t know the details, and we don’t need to know either, as God knows, so please lift her and her family up. Here is what she wrote on FB:
When it rains it pours. Very discouraged. Need love & prayers friends.
  • Please pray for my friend Amy’s cousin Brooke. Brooke has had a stroke, she’s 33 years old. Here is what Amy’s aunt wrote:My dear sweet friends I come to you with a heavy heart but lots of faith. Brooke is in a very bad way. She has had a stroke and a blood clot in a vein from her heart to her brain. There are several things they can do with major danger. I know God has his own plan of healing so I’m hanging in there for now. The part that’s damaged controls her waking up and vision. They say she might not ever wake up but I have to believe she will. Thank you for your prayers but don’t stop now we have a very long way to go. On a good note she has opened her eyes several times for just a second. I will be gone for a while to take care of her. Heather my other daughter will come on to up date you guys. Know that I love you all and thankful for your prayers. We really rely on all prayers. God bless you all. Please pray for her healing, for God’s Peace, Strength, and Comfort to descend upon all of them, and for the God to skillfully guide her doctors. Thanks, everyone.
  • Please continue your prayers for Katy, who has been featured on our prayer requests before. Also lift up her Mom, who is struggling at the moment. Here are the latest updates by way of my friend Kuleen:
Update on Katy from her Mom:
Katy is stable… But she definitely took a few steps back today. No one really knows what caused it… But her sats were really low she was very blue… Blood pressure was low. Ended up going back up on her vent to full support, back on the paralytic, back up to full sedation with both her morphine and versed so any headway we made was lost today. Thankfully she appears to be stable and hopefully has an uneventful night. From Katy’s Mom:
Afraid… When is enough enough? Katy’s kidneys are giving out again. I miss my girl.
    From Katy’s mom. Not good:
Katy is having a really tough day. Not sure how this is going to play out… Not sure how I am going to say goodbye to my baby girl. Running out of options.
  • Lastly, my friend Sheila reminds us of the prayers our animal friends need.  Here is what she wrote:We need to pray for your dog too! Animals also need prayers. I hope and pray Regan gets better soon.Thank you Sheila for your prayers.  Regan is much better.  He had to go in on this past Friday for a follow-up to his ultrasound, as well as a dental cleaning and some mole removals.  He is fine, but he really gets disoriented when he has had anesthesia.  One of the moles they sent off for checking, so we don’t know that result yet, but we’ll take prayers for a good outcome from that.  Thank you!
  • Just before I was going to close our post down for the night, my friend Brooke — who is listed above in our prayer requests, shared these words:Sometimes this world brings trouble I find so hard to bear. I know I could not make it without Jesus being there.
    It’s so encouraging to know,
How ever deep we’re in despair…
    Jesus never fails.

When she told me I could include them, she also posted a link to the song that those words are from.  I thought you all might enjoy to listen to the song as much as I did.  Enjoy!

My friends, like we always do, our prayers are only good if we pray for God’s Will to be done on our lives.  To me, the best way to do this is to pray the prayer that Jesus taught us to pray.  Please close with the Lord’s Prayer:

Our Father, who art in Heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy Kingdom come, thy Will be done,
On earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread,
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us.

Lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For thine is the Kingdom, and the Power, and the Glory.
Forever and ever. Amen.

Bible Emergency Numbers

Prayers for the Week – Bible Emergency Numbers

Bible Emergency Numbers

The Bible Emergency Numbers has some great Bible verses to check out!

Hello everyone, and welcome to our weekly Prayers for the Week post!  Today I re-found this great resource — the Bible Emergency Numbers that you can feel free to call on when you see something going on in your life or the life of those around you.

God calls us to love Him, and to serve Him, and the sad reality is that far too often, we do not do either in a great enough measure.  I think that this list, the Bible Emergency Numbers, is a great way for us to refocus ourselves when we fit one of the criteria.  For example, take a look at the last line:

If you find the world growing small, and you great, call Psalm 19.

Psalm 19 is just one of the Psalms of King David.  In it, he tells us of how Heaven is proclaiming all of God’s Glory, and then he goes on to talk about all of God’s laws are great — His instruction revives our being, His commands are pure, giving light to our eyes.

King David then goes on to ask the question, what happens if we sin accidentally?  He then goes on to ask for forgiveness, and for God to keep him from any willful sins, and to keep sin from ruling his life.

Finally, he gives us one of the most important benedictions we can receive:

Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be pleasing to you, Lord, my rock and my redeemer. ~ Psalm 19:14

Prayer Requests and Praises…

  • Another update for my friend Amanda and her husband Daniel:Just a really quick update! Daniel has been completely cleared for surgery. The surgeon is going to try to leave him with 25-30% of his liver to lower the risk of liver failure but no promises. Surgery is this Thursday. We have to be at the hospital at 5:30 am and they will take him back around 7:30. Suregery will last 5-6 hours. He’ll spend the first few days in ICU and have a total stay between 10-12 days if there are no complications. The risk of liver failure is a concern through the first week postop.
Please pray for a successful surgery and complication free surgery and post op. Please ask God to guide the clinicians treating Daniel and to give Daniel the strength needed to fight this battle. Thanks for your prayers and support! We truly can feel you praying for us!!Please pray for them and their kids, for all of the reasons Amanda listed. Thanks everyone!

    • Then, today, we had this update from Amanda:Sorry I haven’t gotten an update out since the surgery but it’s been a whirlwind! This will be short because we are in watch mode right now. As of now Daniel’s progress has been good. He’s in ICU recovering as planned. He’s doing everything he can to move to the standard floor. Please keep the prayers coming! They are definitely working! I will send another update when I have more to report. Thanks again for all of the love and support!
  • Here is the latest on Katy throughout the week:Today’s update on Katy:
Another stable night for Katy. The LVAD is still running well and they continue to try to take fluid off of her. All tests are in normal ranges. She is a Rockstar as always.Continue the prayers, please — they are working! From Amiee this morning: Ugh…Miss Kate needs to turn the corner. Her kidneys aren’t working as well as we need them to…her right heart pressures are too high. She has a culture growing something. She is not in a good place please step up the prayers. From Katy’s Mom:
Feeling blessed… Although Katy is very sick I find comfort that she is getting the best care. Her bed is surrounded by 6 of the best cardiologists, her nurses, her surgeon while they are performing an echo and making the best decisions for our girl. No one is giving up.

    Great update about Katy:
We have an increase in PEE! I never thought pee would bring me to tears! The rockstar is rocking on!

    Katy update:
Seriously Katy is so amazing… I get all my strength and courage from her. They lifted her paralytic and she is fighting through the ridiculous hug morphine dose to open her eyes and nod. I told her she was doing a great job and she was going to get better and she nodded her head. Another great day of peeing and the talk is they hope to close her chest tomorrow.

As you can see, the world is definitely a roller coaster of emotion for them.  Please keep up your prayers, so that we can see her overcome all of these obstacles!  Thanks everyone!

  • Lastly, I have a big praise to share courtesy of my friend Rusty:One year ago today, my wife found out she had breast cancer. The following day, she told me she was pregnant with our second child!
It has been an absolutely insane, crazy, hectic year. While it is not the journey that either one of us wanted to take, I am so proud of my wife for taking each hurdle in stride.
I look forward to putting cancer behind us and having fun with our kids!
We could not have done it without the love and support of family and friends. You know who you are. THANK YOU!

Thank you all for reading and praying all week.  If you have any prayer requests, please feel free to add them in the comments, and we’ll pray for you too!  Thanks!  Now, let’s close by asking that God’s Will be done by praying the prayer that Jesus taught us to pray:

Our Father, who art in Heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy Kingdom come, thy will be do e,
On Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread,
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
Lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.

For thine is the Kingdom, and the Power, and the Glory,
Forever and ever. Amen.

James 5:16

Prayers for the Week – James 5:16

James 5:16

Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed.  The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. ~ James 5:16 (ESV)

Hello my friends, and welcome to this week’s Prayers for the Week post.  This week I’m sharing with you a verse from the book of James that I came across this week.  In reading this verse, it struck me that this verse is very much what this prayer post is all about.  Believers praying for each other, confessing our sins, and asking for help in the battle against the evil one.  I am thankful to each and every one of you for your commitment to this ministry, and I include you all in my prayers each night.  Now, please read these requests, and pray for them.  Also, please include your own prayer requests so that we can pray for you!

Prayer Requests and Praises…

  • My sister Robin has a prayer request, and also a comment regarding how many people leave the site because of my prayer posts.  Here is what she wrote:
I wondered how many people would turn away because the “Cross is offensive to those who don’t believe.” (paraphrase mine) I can’t say I am surprised, only surprised it isn’t a higher number. That is God working through you and this ministry. You, my dear brother, are a missionary in every sense of the word and I am so proud of you.
I will ask for prayers and guidance over the next few weeks regarding school and work, which is school too :-) and praying that God leads me to a position that He wants me in. I am also asking for the faith I need to stay in my current role if that is what He wants.
I am going to leave you with this verse, because as you stated earlier sometimes we don’t have the words we want when we pray, but the Holy Spirit does. Hebrews 7:25 is my birth verse and it goes like this: “Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.”

    • Here is my reply, as well as a prayer request for my brother-in-Christ Glen:
Thank you Robin for your words. I’ll pray for you always! Also, please lift up my brother Glen, who has had a recurrance of prostrate cancer. Please pray for healing. Thanks!
  • My friend Shannan lost one of her best friends yesterday. Her family is devastated, I don’t know all the details, but here is what she wrote:
My family is heartbroken. We are in tears. My kids can’t stop crying. We will miss you so much. Tell me this is a bad dream.
Please pray for them. Please pray for God’s Peace, Comfort, Strength, and Love to descend upon them all, and on the family of their friend. Please help them come to grips with this and to realize that they may not get the “Why?” questions ever answered, but that God is there for them. Thank you for praying for them.
  • Here’s the latest update on Katy from my friend Kuleen. Here is what she wrote:
Update from Katy’s Dad: Katy is still heavily sedated but making progress in her recovery. So far all of her organs are functioning as expected. Her transplanted heart is still very sick and may not recover. We are discussing the options that are available with her doctors. We’ll have more answers over the next few days. Please continue to pray for our little Rockstar.

    • Since this update, we have had a slew of updates on little Katy.  Please read and continue to pray:
      Update from Katy’s Mom:
Keep praying… Still making BIG decisions … Never imagined we would ever need to be pick between option worse and worse. We need a miracle.Update on Katy from her Dad:
Not a great update. It has been decided that Katy’s transplanted heart is too sick to recover. She needs a second transplant. The problem facing the team is to figure out a way for Katy to survive until that time without going into cardiac arrest again. There are no great options. We’ve decided that the only option that gives us the any hope is to implant a device called an LVAD in her chest. This pump would do the work of the weakened left side of her heart with the hope that the right side will continue to improve. The 12 hour surgery is scheduled for Friday. Please pray extra hard for our little girl. For anyone interested, a Go Fund Me site has been started to raise funds for little Katy’s medical expenses.

      From Katy’s Mom:
Headed to bed… Our girl has a big day tomorrow. I feel at peace knowing we are giving her the best chance possible and praying and hoping that it works. Mike and I feel so much comfort as we read through your kind words and messages. Seeing my smiling girl all over Facebook warms my heart. Thank you to all who donated to help get us over this bump and as we embark on a journey that is so different yet so familiar. Katy is tentatively scheduled for 2nd case tomorrow. Mike will update as he can… It is going to be a long, stressful day. Please do not be alarmed if the updates are few and far between… we expect that our updates from the OR will be sporadic. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Much Love, The Murphys Mike, Amiee Katy & Patrick

      Update from Katy’s Moms:
Katy just went into the OR. Surgery should last about 12 hours.

      Update from Katy’s Mom:
Ready to start putting in the LVAD hardware.

Great update from Katy’s mom on surgery!
Katy’s surgery is going great. The LVAD is in and pumping. Her right ventricle is working on its own as we hoped. She is now off of bypass and they should be finishing up within an hour or so. 4 hours ahead of schedule because they didn’t have any problems. Keep the prayers coming.

      Update from Katy’s mom:
Katy is back in her room in the ICU. She’s stable after some post-op bleeding and very puffy from fluid. Her LVAD is working well and she will still be on the ventilater for at least a few days. Thanks for the prayers.

Another Katy update- not as good as the last:
Rough post surgery day for Katy. She’s very puffy from the surgery. They’re working to get all the fluid off of her over the next couple of days so they can close her chest up. Her heart rate continues to fluctuate up and down depending on the load on her heart. The next 12 to 24 hours is critical. Please keep those prayers coming.

  • Lastly, please pray healing prayers for our dog Regan.  He has come down with something that is causing vomiting, and we are worried about him.  Please allow the medication to work as it should, so that he can be better very soon.  Thanks!

Thank you for praying for all of our requests — please keep little Katy in your prayers over the next several days, and thank you.  Now, please pray the prayer that Jesus taught us to pray:

Our Father, who art in Heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy Kingdom come, thy will be do e,
On Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread,
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
Lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.

For thine is the Kingdom, and the Power, and the Glory,
Forever and ever. Amen.
