Did Nostradamus predict Disney Free Dining?

The rumors about free dining from Disney have been swirling for quite some time, so I thought I would take a little bit of a humorous take on the potential discount promotion.  So, I ask you the question: Did Nostradamus predict free dining?

Well, while there are rumors all over the tabloids talking about some of the things that Nostradamus has predicted, I have yet to see an actual prediction of his that pertains to Disney’s free dining promotion.  As always, if you see something different, please share it with us on our Facebook page.

However, beyond that, there are some things that make this a little interesting.  First up, here are some pictures of some of the restaurants you can enjoy on the Disney Dining Plan.

In addition to great restaurants to enjoy (there are nearly 100 different table service restaurants on the plan), the Disney Dining Plan comprises the following components:

  • 1 Table Service credit per person, per night of their stay at an on-site Walt Disney World resort hotel.
  • 1 Counter Service credit per person, per night of their stay.
  • 2 Snack credits per person, per night of their stay.
  • In addition, each person will receive a resort refillable mug that they can keep as a souvenir after they leave for home.

There are other plans for quick service and deluxe dining, but the one listed above is the most common.

If Disney free dining is released, one thing to keep in mind is that there will be limitations.  Certain resorts in the past have been excluded from the promotion, and the promotion is for certain time periods, among other constraints.  I’ll not go into the details of the rumors, chances are the rumors are not entirely correct.

However, if you are already booked through me for a vacation package at Walt Disney World, and a promotion is released, I will work on your reservations first.  So, if you are not one of my clients, start the process of becoming one of my clients by submitting a quote request today!

Finally, if you would like to discuss a Walt Disney World vacation for you and your family, please reach out to me!  I am a travel agent specializing in Disney destinations with Pixie Vacations, and I would love to help you plan your trip or get you some pricing information.  My services are completely free for you, so why not see all that I can help you with your Disney planning?

So, while the chances are high that Nostradamus did not predict free dining, I predict that if you become a client of mine, you will get top notch service from me!  You can count on that!

Mother's Day

Magic Kingdom Mother’s Day Weekend Getaway

Welcome to this month’s Blogorail Peach Loop. Today we are sharing ideas for Mother’s Day Weekend Getaways.

Mother's Day

Welcome to this month’s Magical Blogorail Peach loop.  Today we are taking a look at Mother’s Day Weekend Getaways, and I’m focusing my attention on the Magic Kingdom!  Come join us and imagine a time when you can take your mother (or you can help your child take their mother) to the Magic Kingdom to celebrate their special day!

Mother’s Day is a special time, a time when all children should remember their mothers and celebrate all that they do for us. What better way to celebrate that than a special Mother’s Day Weekend Getaway to the Magic Kingdom!

In full disclosure, I have never been able to take my mother — and Sophie has never taken her mother — to the Magic Kingdom on Mother’s Day.  School schedule just never seem to cooperate with us in this regard, especially since we live in North Carolina.  However, our mothers do a lot for their children, day in and day out, and it seems good to me that we should celebrate our mothers each and every day.  If the day should come that we were to move to Florida, I think then we would make a special arrangement to visit the Magic Kingdom on Mother’s Day, but until then, we’ll spend our time remembering special trips Sophie and I have made with our mothers.

Taking Mom to the Magic Kingdom, August 2006

In 2006 when we were visiting my grandparents in Florida, Cindy and I decided we would take Sophie and my Mom Ellen to the Magic Kingdom for the day.  It was a fun trip, and was the first time that Mom had been there since my very first trip way back in the summer of 1979, twenty-seven years before.  It was a great day to be there, in essence, it was me taking my favorite 3 girls to the one place I like to visit more than any other place.

Mother's Day

In this photo, you see Sophie and Cindy enjoying a fun ride on the Mad Hatter’s Tea Cups.  I love this picture for the pure joy you see on their faces.  Although now, if Sophie rides it, she rides in a different one than Cindy and I do because we don’t like to spin really fast anymore and Sophie is all about that!

Mother's Day

In this photo, Sophie and my Mom Ellen are relaxing for a picture on Minnie’s couch back in the old Mickey’s Toontown Fair.  That land is sadly no more, but treasures like this one remind us of when we were there, and the land lives on in us through these photos.  I don’t know what ever became of Mickey’s and Minnie’s country homes or their furniture — I’d love to see them put back on display somewhere, wouldn’t you?

Mother's Day

Lastly, in this photo we see a picture of Mom, Sophie, and Cindy riding The Magic Carpets of Aladdin over in Adventureland.  I sat out this attraction and took my pictures from ground level.  Just three girls out enjoying a relaxing ride!

I guess the point I’m trying to make in this post is to remind each and every one of us — starting with myself — that life is precious, and we should celebrate our Mom each and every day.  Whether you celebrate her in your day to day excursions, or you celebrate her at special places like the Magic Kingdom, the point is to celebrate her, and surround her with the love that she deserves, day in and day out.

Have you ever taken your Mom to the Magic Kingdom for Mother’s Day? What did you enjoy most about that?  Let us know in the comments, please, and thanks for stopping by today!

The Return of the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop- Disney Parades!

Disney Parades

The Main Street Electrical Parade is the subject of this week’s Wordless Wednesday post!

Welcome to the return of the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop!  Today we are focusing on Disney Parades for our theme! My friend Deb from Focused on the Magic has always hosted this, and I used to be quite the regular on contributing.  Things shifted, though, and I was not able to contribute nearly as often as I wanted to — that is, until now!  Long time readers will know that my Wordless Wednesday posts are not wordless at all usually.  Today’s theme is Disney Parades, and I can’t think of a better parade to feature than the Main Street Electrical Parade!  Originally from Disneyland, brought to Walt Disney World for several years, and now, back at Disneyland where my friend Sheila says “it belongs!”  I’ve great memories of this parade from it’s days in Florida, here’s some of my favorite pictures from that incredible parade!  Enjoy!

It looks like Cinderella is looking right at me!

Book Review: Along Interstate 75 by Dave Hunter

“The ‘must-have’ Guide for your drive to and from Florida!” This is how Along Interstate 75 is billed on the cover and I can say from personal experience that it’s that and so much more.

Type: Soft cover

Pages: 206

Publisher: Mile Oak Publishing Inc.

ISBN: 978-1-896819-198

When my wife and I were planning our first drive down to Florida in 2007 we felt a little apprehensive. We hadn’t driven that far into the States before and had no idea how to plan hotel stays and how to find out what to see along the way. Of course, every State has a Welcome Center as you cross the border, but we wanted to do some advanced planning.

We were used to using Birnbaum guides for planning our itinerary at Walt Disney World, and so we checked the travel section at our local book store for similar travel guides. We found Dave Hunter’s Along I-75 and have never looked back!

With 19 years of publication behind it this guide is quite probably the most comprehensive tourist guide of its kind. Part map, part guide-book, it really does have everything the traveler needs to enjoy the drive between Detroit and Florida and back again.

This publication also doubles as a history book. If the drive is starting to bore you simply have your navigator (spouse/travel companion) read from the many white pages and enjoy hours of interesting stories about the people and events that happened all around you along the I-75.

But the main use of this publication is as a map. As mentioned, there are separate pages for going to Florida from Detroit, appropriately with yellow borders (for the sun you know!) And another set of pages for traveling back.

Speed limits, speed traps, exits, alternate routes, gas and food, entertainment, and trivia are all found on each and every page.

The key feature is the ‘upside down’ orientation. If you place the publication on your lap, you can follow the route from the bottom of each page to the top, mimicking the forward direction of your driving. Each page covers approximately 25 miles or 30 minutes of driving time. So if you want to eat in 2 hours, simply turn four pages ahead and check to see what restaurants are available in that area. Want to stop for the night in 4 more hours time? Turn 8 pages ahead and pick your favorite hotel.

Every vacation must come to an end and you eventually have to drive back to Detroit from Florida, so you simply follow the blue pages home again. Blue for cold. Snow. And depression!

Review: I can’t imagine a more comprehensive but easy to use guide! It is one of the few publications out there that deserves a full 5 out of 5 Stars. I’d give it more if I could!

We hope to put this 19th Edition to good use early next year as we once again take to the American highways (the I-75 specifically) to visit our happy place in Florida. In case you’re wondering, our happy place in Florida is Walt Disney World. Duh!
