Prayers for the Week – Our First Year

Prayers for Sorrow

Hello my friends, and thank you for stopping by today for our Prayers for the Week Post.  Today’s post marks the anniversary of our first year of writing our prayers for the week posts, and while I am proud of all of the answered prayers that we have seen in that year, today my heart is heavy because of some of the requests we have this week.

We all know that God is there for us, and for the prayer requests we have this week, I see direct proof of this statement.  Many of the requests we have are very serious, yet despite that, the families that are affected are experiencing a feeling of Peace because God is with them.  While their hearts are breaking, they know that God is there, and that He is taking care of them and their loved ones with the care and compassion that only God can show.  This post is dedicated to the family of Dustin — to Jeff and Kelly, Braden and Collin, and all of their relatives.  Please pray with me for them, and all of the other prayer requests we have this week.

Prayer Requests and Praises.

  • My friends, I ask for prayers for the nephew of my friend Beth. We have been praying for Dustin and his healing over the past several months, and today I learned that it likely won’t be long before Dustin is called home to Heaven. My prayers this day are for Dustin’s family, who are heartbroken, obviously, and for God to shower them with His love and to hold them tight in the days, weeks, months, and years ahead. Dustin is not quite four, and his older brother, who turned seven yesterday, is devastated. Please shower them all with your love, kindness, prayers, and whatever else they might need to get through. Heavenly Father, we ask for you to grant Your Peace, Comfort, and Strength upon Beth’s family, as they deal with this difficult journey. Remind them in Your Loving way that You are there for them, and carry them throughout this with the love and compassion that You have for them. We ask these things in the name of Your Son Jesus, who died for us, with Thanksgiving. Amen!
  • Please pray for a friend of mine. They are trying to adopt a child, and have run into a complication because of a situation that happened with a different adoption of someone else. Unfortunately, a little boy who was adopted came to harm. It’s sad that, no matter how much background you put into a case, there are no guarantees. Unfortunately, because of this separate case, it has caused doubt to be raised on so many other adoption cases, and that has caused stress on many families and children. Please pray with me:“Heavenly Father, we grieve for the little boy who was harmed by his adopted father. We can not understand why things like this happen, and I’m not sure that we are expected to know. What we do know, though, is that a lot of other families who are trying to adopt a child are now at risk of not being able to do so, and because of that, we turn to You, Lord. We pray for the salvation of that little boy who we know is now with You. We also pray for all of the other families that are under stress because of this isolated incident, and we pray that You would see them all through these times. Please have Your Peace, Comfort, and Strength descend upon them and the children that they are looking to adopt. Please remind these families that we are all Children of God, and to remember to put You first. Please remind them to have Faith in Your ways, and that, in the end, it will all be okay. We ask these things in the name of Your Son Jesus, who paid the ultimate price for our sins. Amen.”
    • Even as we were praying this prayer regarding my friend and their pending adoption, they received word that the final approval process was done and that they would be able to adopt the newest member of their family. Please praise God for this miracle, and lift up the entire family in prayer so that they would appreciate every day all of the incredible blessings that God has bestowed upon them. Thank you everyone!
  • My friend Laura has some heavy prayer requests. Her friend Shirley, who she considers an Aunt because of how close they are, is having an emergency mammogram 2/26. Please pray for a good result from this test. Also, Laura’s Father-in-Law George has cancer in multiple locations, including his lungs, liver, and back, and is unable to walk. Please pray with me:Heavenly Father, we ask that You lift up Shirley and George. They are going through some really serious issues, and we ask that You please give your Healing touch to them, and skillfully guide the hands of the medical team that is looking after them. Lord, we know that You know their hearts, and we pray that they know You and Your Son Jesus, that they turn to you with their worries and concern, and that they talk to You daily. Lord, please grant Your Peace, Comfort, and Strength to Shirley and George and all of their families so that they may face these tribulations in their lives the best way they can. Lord, if it is Your Will, please heal them of their medical issues so that they might be a Miraculous Blessing to all of how wonderful You are. We ask these things in the name of Your Son Jesus with Thanksgiving. Amen!
    • I learned from Laura that her friend Shirley’s prayers were answered — the test came back negative!  Praise God for the answered prayer!
  • My friend Stephanie asks for prayers for her husband’s Grandfather. Here is what she wrote:Please keep my husband’s grandfather in your prayers. He has been in the hospital all week…failing kidneys among several other things. It wasn’t unexpected, but still hard! He actually told us at Christmas that it would be his last and that he is ready to be called Home. We all have comfort knowing that he is at peace and that his beloved wife, Gran Gran, will be waiting for him when the time comes. Please pray for his Peace, Comfort, Healing, and Strength, and also that for all of his family. He is ready to come home, so please pray for him. It is, of course, God’s Will, and if God thinks there is more for him to do here on earth, please put him in the path of those he needs to help so that he may share and bring others to know our Lord. Thank you!
  • I have an anonymous prayer request for all couples that are trying to have a baby. In particular, I have one friend that has tried, and had a miscarriage early in one pregnancy. Please lift up her and her husband in prayer as they strive to start their family. Please pray with me:“Heavenly Father, Your Son is such a part of our lives, and we give thanks to You for Jesus. There are many people in this world that are having difficulty in bringing a child into the world, and today, we turn to You for help in their situations. Please be with them, and if it is Your Will, please nurture them and, at the right time, grant them the gift that they long for — a child of their own. Lord, we know that it isn’t in our timetable, it is in Your timetable that this will occur, so please, also grant them Your Peace and Patience so that they will not worry over it, but just submit to Your Will concerning this in their lives. Be with them, Lord, and if You see fit to grant them a child, remind them to raise their child to be a testimony to Your own Son, Jesus. It is in His glorious name that we pray with Thanksgiving. Amen.
  • One of my closest Disney friends is Amanda. Amanda is a lady of many different layers, but her primary layer (outside of the Mom, Wife, etc. layer) is that she is a teacher. Please pray for two of her students that are in the midst of cancer treatments right now. I don’t know what is causing all of this cancer, but I’m sick of it! God, I’m sorry, but please take care of all of this.Amanda’s students’ names are Patrick and Madalyn. Please lift them up to the Lord as we pray together:“Heavenly Father, we are staring at cancer once again, this time in the bodies of two teenage students, Patrick and Madalyn. Cancer has proven time and time again that it will strike anyone, of any age, at any time, and Lord, this week has been hard enough that I’m truly leaning on You more than I normally do. I’m weary, Lord, weary of all of these babies facing such tribulations. I know that You have our best interests at heart, and I know that You are looking after all of us, so Lord, please look after Patrick and Madalyn, Stephanie, Dustin, Baby Ryan, and everyone else that is ailing. Lord, please provide healing for all of these children, so that they might know You better. I ask this in the name of Your Son Jesus, who told us in John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” — Lord, help us through this trouble, these trials, these tribulations, and Lord, see us to Paradise in our appointed time with the grace of You shining from us. It is in Jesus’ name that I pray. Amen”
  • Lastly, Lord, I want to give You praise for the marriage yesterday of my cousin Bob and his new wife Lori.  They are very happy together, and I thank you for bringing them all together.  May their days be filled with love and compassion for all of their days.

Lord, we don’t know what tomorrow will bring for us, but we have a lot of people hurting right now.  Please be with all of these requests, and with those that we don’t know about, and remind us that You are here for us, and that You love us.  Thank you for all of our blessings, for our answered prayers, for our families, for everything you give to us, both now and in the future.  We ask all of these prayers in the name of Your Son Jesus with Thanksgiving.  Amen!

Prayers for the Week – Ryan’s Joy

Hello everyone, and welcome to this week’s Prayers for the Week post.  Today I’m sharing with you a picture of beautiful Ryan, who, despite all of the tribulations he has been going through in his short life, still knows what it is like to Rejoice.  I titled this post Ryan’s Joy in honor of him.  Here he is smiling at some of his family.  My friends, that one picture alone is a sermon, but you know me — I’m going to add a little to it.  I think this Bible Verse sums it up perfectly, as I think this is what Ryan is doing in this picture:

Rejoice in the Lord always.  I will say it again: Rejoice!

Those words come to us from the Apostle Paul in his letter to the Philippians.  When I saw that picture, what I saw was Ryan smiling at his family, but also smiling knowing that God is watching over him.  The children are so knowing, even at just over 4 months — Ryan knows he has God on his side!

My friends, looking at Ryan in that picture convicts me of all the times when I could be more Joyous than I am.  My prayer is that I will learn to love God more than ever, and be Joyous in all circumstances, good or bad.

Now, please read and pray for our prayer requests and praises, and thanks!

Prayer Requests and Praises…

  • My friend Kelly is having surgery — I don’t know the details of when, where, and how serious — but what I do know is that the surgery and recovery timetable is significant enough that it will force her to have to change her plans for her next Disney trip in June. Please pray for Kelly, for her successful surgery, for a great recovery, and for her light at the end of the tunnel being the day she steps through that tunnel into Town Square in the Magic Kingdom. God knows all the details, and will take it from there. Thanks everyone!
  • My friend Shannan asked for some prayer requests. Here is what she wrote:I’m having hip surgery this week and will be on crutches for 4 weeks and in therapy for 10. My childhood friends Jerry M. He just got diagnosed with an aggressive cancer (3rd time since childhood leukemia). He will be having a major surgery in April to remove his lymph nodes. He moved to Memphis after graduation to work at St. Jude as he wouldn’t be here today without them. He still works there. This doesn’t sound good but I know all things are possible through prayer. Please pray with me for them:

“Heavenly Father, we know that with You all things are possible, and tonight, we share with you the health concerns of your children Shannan and Jerry. Please cloak them with your healing touch, and guide their doctors as they do what is needed to heal them of their illnesses. Please grant them Your Peace, Comfort, and Strength — both for them and for their families and friends as well. We ask these things in the name of Your beautiful Son Jesus with Thanksgiving. Amen.”

  • A prayer request as seen on my Twitter feed:Pray for those who are struggling against the demons of addiction, temptation, and depression. The devil takes these forms daily!
  • My friend Kourtney left me an update on her nephew Ryan that I’m sharing with you. Prayers are continued to be needed for that little guy, here is what she wrote me:Ryan got to go home for a couple of days at the end of January. Unfortunately, he went into respiratory distress and had to be airlifted back to Children’s Hospital. He still has his trach and NG tube so they’re not sure what the problem is. They decided to keep him until his next surgery (originally scheduled for March 6th) just in case there were any more problems.

On Friday they decided that maybe he’s outgrown his shunt and that could be what’s wrong. He’ll be going in to the cath lab today with the assumption that he will have his 3rd open heart surgery tomorrow. The plan is a 3-4 week recovery time after this surgery and then home (hopefully without any machines)! However, we’ve learned that Ryan has his own plan and all we can do is hold our breath and wait.

This poor little guy has been in the hospital since the day he was born at the end of September. All we want is for him to be home with his parents and brother.

thank you again for your support and prayers and please be thinking of him tomorrow as he undergoes his 3rd open heart surgery!

    Please pray with me:

Heavenly Father, the wonder and beauty of Ryan’s delightful smile shows us that You are keeping him close to You. Despite his struggles, still he is able to find joy in his life. Father, we know that You have Ryan and his family’s best interests in mind, and that Your Will will be done for Ryan. Please continue to shower him with Your love, keep healing him as we know You are, and keep close to his family as they struggle to keep strong in the face of everything that is going on. Please have your Peace descend upon Ryan, his family, and all of his many followers, and guide the skillful hands of Ryan’s surgical team during this latest trial for him. Ryan is a miracle baby, and every trial that he faces is one more miracle that You, Father, grant for him. We love you, and ask these things in the name of Your Son Jesus, the wonderful Healer, with Thanksgiving, today and every day. Amen!

  • My friend Tabitha has a prayer request. Here is what she wrote on Facebook:OK, I have a client that I have been helping that has cancer and now she needs prayers more than ever! She had a cruise scheduled for next month but I just got an e-mail from a friend of hers that she is in the hospital having trouble breathing with water on her brain. Please pray for her and her 17 year old daughter and her parents. I so wanted to make this a special trip for her!

Please pray for her client, for her health, her family, her Peace, her comfort, her strength, and that for her family as well. Thank you everyone for praying!

  • Tabitha has an update on her client. Unfortunately, it is not looking good. Here is what she wrote:
Update on my client. I talked to her dad and he said she is in bad shape and he doesn’t think she will make it out of the hospital.
My comment to Tabitha was this:
I’m sorry Tabitha — I’m praying for her salvation as well as for God’s Healing touch to come to her and her family. It is an absolutely terrible thing to go through. Please tell her Dad that there are people all over the world praying for his little girl and all of them. Thanks my friend, if you need anything at all please hit me up.
Please pray for her salvation as well as for her healing, and please pray prayers of Peace, Comfort, and Strength for her and all of her family. We know that it is in God’s Hands and that He will do for her and her family what is best for them, but please keep the prayers coming. Thanks everyone.

  • My friend Chelsea would like prayers lifted up for her cousin. She requested these a while back, but we’re going to refresh the request now too. Here is what she wrote me:Also a few months ago I asked for prayer for my cousin who tore her ACL two weeks before her wedding… Not sure if you remember but just wanted to thank you again for praying… Her ACL is slowly healing… But her fiancé called the wedding off 10 days before the wedding…. She was crushed but is slowly healing.

Please pray for Chelsea’s cousin — for her physical as well as her emotional healing. While we don’t know why this happened to her, we can certainly understand how hard it is for her. Please lift her up with prayers of love, Peace, comfort, and strength for all of her ailments, and help her to know that God is with her, always. Remind her of Jeremiah 29:11, in which the Lord tells us:

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Thank you everyone for your prayers!

    • Continued prayers for my friend Chelsea’s cousin — she’s experiencing complications from her ACL surgery, so please send up healing prayers for her. Thanks everyone!
  • Prayers for my friend Heidi, who is about to go under some arm surgery today. Here is what she wrote:I have to be at the surgery center at 11:15 this morning. I think I better go wake Ashley to run an intervention for me. I keep wanting to get up and make my morning coffee (but I’m not allowed to eat or drink). Please pray that this “Manipulation Under Anesthesia” is finally the first step in getting this arm healed!

    Thanks everyone!

  • Please pray for my niece Stephanie, who is going through some serious health concerns and needs to have surgery.  God knows all the details, so please pray for healing for Stephanie.
  • Praise goes to God for my Dad’s successful procedure on Wednesday!  Thank you God for seeing Dad through that safely!

My friends, I hope that you are as blessed when reading these posts as I am when I write them.  Please please please add your prayers and praises to our list so that our post can grow exponentially!  God is great, and He is hearing all of these prayers lifted up by us!  Now, to close, let’s recite the Lord’s Prayer:

Our Father, who Art in Heaven
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom Come, thy Will be done,
On earth, as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our Daily Bread,
and forgive us our Trespasses, as we forgive those that trespass against us.
Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil,
For Thine is the Kingdom, and Power, and Glory,
Forever and Ever, Amen.

Prayers for the Week – Forgiveness

Forgive-Them-Banner

Hello my friends, and welcome to this week’s Prayers for the Week post.  We have turned the corner, we are fully involved in the year 2014 — but is it possible that we are carrying some baggage that we should shed from 2013, or even 2012, 2011, 2010, or even earlier than that?  Is it possible that we need to forgive someone?  Is it possible that you need to forgive yourself? My friends, I’m going to share with you a quote I read when I was researching an image to use for this post.

Forgiveness is not something we do for other people. We do it for ourselves ~ to get well and move on.

My friends, I believe a truer statement was never said.  Failure to forgive is to keep a bitter pill in your heart, and that pill will grow and grow and grow if you let it, until you end up becoming a bitter person.  It changes your outlook on life.  It makes you angry a lot, it turns you into a cynic, it causes you to just be someone that no one wants to be around except other bitter people.  My friends — it is very important that we learn to forgive.  Failure to forgive leads to a hardened heart, and that keeps you away from God.  My friends — please forgive if you have some baggage to get rid of.  It will be the biggest thing you ever do.  Now, please read and pray for these requests and praises.  Thanks!

Prayer Requests

  • Starting us off is my friend Ivon.  This story is sad and full of pain, so please make sure you pray for all involved.
My friend Ivon left a prayer request on Facebook. Here is what she wrote:To everyone of my friends & family.. Please I ask you all for a very special prayer tonight! I’ve just gotten word that someone that is extremely near & dear to our hearts has been involved in an accident and we don’t have any further news from FHP.

I have an update to Ivon’s prayer request. Unfortunately, it is not good news. Here is what she wrote:

My heart aches and it saddens me so much to have to share this news. Today we lost someone extremely Dear to all our hearts. I ask please that you keep my Bestfriend, Renee’s family in your prayers. Her 19 yr old daughter, Savannah, whom was like my niece, passed away in a terrible car accident. Please, pray that they may find strength to deal with this tragedy. RIP ‘Pumpkin’ you may be one of God’s angels now but you will never be forgotten.

    Please pray with me:

Heavenly Father, we know that you are now embracing Savannah in Your loving arms, and that she is in no pain or suffering. That thought alone gives us comfort. However, there are a lot of grieving family members and friends right now that need You to lift them up, to carry them during their intense grief. Please carry them, please hold them close, please give them Your Peace, Comfort, and Strength to deal with this tragedy, and to remember Savannah for the loving, caring person that I know she was. We ask these things in the name of Your Son Jesus, who carries us whenever we call on Him. Amen.

  • My friend Vickie has a prayer request. Here is what she wrote on Facebook:Please keep my daughter and me in your prayers and thoughts today. God knows the reason.

Vickie, the Lord will keep you under His care today, and knows the reason even if we don’t voice it here! It’ll be okay!

    Mike

  • Please continue your prayers for my Cousin Barb’s husband Tim. He has been battling cancer for almost a year, and it is taking a toll on him emotionally. Please pray for his healing, of course, but also for his Peace, comfort, and strength. Please also pray for my Cousin and all of their immediate family. Thank you everyone!
  • My friend Sig posted this on Facebook. Please pray for his family in their loss:I would like to pass along my deepest condolences to my Aunt Marge and all my cousins in the passing of a great husband, father, grandfather and uncle. My you Rest in Peace uncle Dave, love you Nib

Please pray for their Peace, Comfort, and Strength and that they will turn to God for their needs. He will comfort them and they will be at peace knowing that Uncle Dave is now in Jesus loving embrace!

  • You may remember the prayer request for Ben from a couple of weeks ago. He is still struggling, and we need to intensify our prayers, please. Here is the latest in his struggle:Latest update on Ben (my friend Jenny’s son):
    Update 1/9—roller coaster city
We started the day with nothing new to report, no progress made and nothing new to be worried about. He was fine all morning and he headed into surgery a bit ahead of schedule. The doctors continue to repeat that not worse is good. I’m waiting to hear about something better.
The surgery went well enough. They completely removed a lesion on his shoulder that was filled with necrotic (dead) tissue. It is the size of a clementine orange, so we are likely going to have issues with it healing. They also removed two lymph nodes in his armpit from a bundle of nodes. This was much easier than expected and the surgeon closed it nicely. Surgery was a success from our perspective.
Ben’s blood pressure tanked in the evening and we had to do a variety of things to bring it back. The most likely cause is that we were too aggressive on the Lasix which pulls fluid off of him. That may have thrown his other numbers into trouble which caused him to have low blood pressure. It has now stabilized, but we are very worried.
There are no updates from any of the biopsies today. We can only hope for results sooner than later.
Please remember to not talk about this with the twins. Not only do they not know any information, but we are also trying to keep their lives fairly normal.
Prayers of patience for me would be a good thing. I feel very short with some of the staff around here. I know that they are trying to help, but I am frustrated with their lack of answers.

Just reading Jenny’s updates just wrenches my heart. I’m going to keep Ben in our Prayers for the week posts until I hear that he is better. Please pray with me at this time:

Our Heavenly Father, we know that you are in control of all that needs to be done with regards to little Ben and his family. His Mom Jenny, who has been updating us, needs your Peace, Comfort, and Strength to continue. She also needs Patience as she is seeing herself becoming short with the doctors and nurses treating Ben. Lord, please work Your healing touch upon Ben, but additionally, work Your healing upon all of the family, because these kinds of situations can lead to more hurt than exists just with the patient. Lord, thank You for hearing our prayers for Ben and his family. I know that it means the world to this family that they have prayer warriors around the country and world praying for them. Lord, I especially want to thank You for the gift of Your Son Jesus. Without Him, we all would be lost, despite our health. Lord, hear our prayers, and look after Ben and his family please. It is in the name of Your Son Jesus that we pray every day with Thanksgiving. Amen!

Praises

  • Putting others before you — that’s what Mitchell did in this post on FB. This is both a prayer request — for the homeless around the country and the world — and a praise, that one person sees the blessings he has. God Bless you Mitchell, and I’ll pray for you to get the job you need! Here is what he wrote:I feel sorry for the homeless person who sleeps in a doorway at a Dr. office across the street every night. I may not have a job, but I had a lot of peanut chocolate candies and Craisins packages that we got from Mickey’s Halloween party at the end of Oct. So I put them in a bag and put it on that doorway for the person.
I know its not really healthy, but its something. My good deed for the day.
  • My last Praise this week is for all of the teachers, administrators, and workers that care for the wellbeing of our children.  They — and God, especially — know who they are, and the number is greater than I could ever list.  For all of you, I take a moment and give thanks to you all and lift up all of you in Praise to my Lord.  Your’s is a special calling, and one that not just anyone can do — a lot of people think they can, but those are the ones that just aren’t very good at it.  So, to all of you, from the bottom of my heart, I say thank you for loving our children enough to care about what happens to them.

My friends, if you have someone to forgive — even if it is yourself — I urge you to do all you can to achieve that feeling of forgiveness.  Please, try hard to do so — and I think you will find that your whole outlook on life, and how you feel about yourself, will improve almost exponentially.

Until next week, please pray for these requests and praises, and please feel free to share any requests you have with all of us.  We are here to pray for you too, so share your requests and we’ll pray for them.  May God keep you safe from harm, and bring you back to us next week for our next Prayers for the Week post!  Amen.

Prayers for the Week – Epiphany!

Hello my friends, and welcome to this week’s Prayer for the Week post.  Today is Epiphany Sunday in the life of my church, so as such I thought the picture shown above was appropriate for today.  I don’t really have a lot to say for today, except that the words listed in the image “The wise still seek Him” are as appropriate today as they have ever been.

I guess, in the end, I’m left with one question — one that I hope I know the answer to for all of us — “Whom do you seek?”  Or, perhaps more telling, “What do you seek?”  If the answer is not Jesus, well, I believe you are looking for the wrong thing.  If you think differently, well, that’s your choice.

Prayer Requests

Please take the time and pray for all of these requests.  It does a world of good for those that are suffering, and I truly appreciate each and every prayer that you lift up for those that need them.  If you have your own prayer requests you need us to pray for, please leave them in the comments.  If you don’t, we won’t know to pray for you.

  • My friend Kuleen has some need of prayers for her friends. Here is what she wrote on Facebook:A friend of mine is in desperate need of prayers. Her 12 year old son has what is believed to be some form of pneumonia. His condition continues to get worse while the doctors try to figure out what he has and how to treat him. He is now intubated and the ICU. Please pray for Ben and his family. Please pray with me:Father God, we know that You are in control of all situations, even ones that scare us to know end such as this one with Kuleen’s friends. Please shower Your love and care upon Ben and his family — show them that You are there for all of us, if we just ask for You, and please also give Ben’s family Your Peace that they so desperately need so that they may be able to help Ben in whatever way he needs. Please also grant them the strength to deal with this, both now and in the future, for as long as is needed until Ben is better. I ask these things in the name of Your wonderful Son Jesus with Thanksgiving. Amen!
  • You may remember we have been praying for Baby Ryan here — if you don’t remember, you can read about him here:http://www.mydreamsofdisney.com/2013/10/prayers-week-praises-midst-trials/(His is the last prayer request for that week).Anyway, we’ve got the potential for a big praise! Here is the latest on this fighter’s plight:

I just wanted to let everyone know that baby Ryan is being released from the hospital in 10 days if everything goes as planned! Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers. We appreciate each and every one of them.

    Please pray with me:

Heavenly Father, the wonders of Your miracles know no boundaries, and we are so close to seeing evidence of Your Healing Touch in Baby Ryan. Please keep his progression moving forward so that he may be released from the hospital when he is supposed to be, and please continue to shower Your Love, Peace, Comfort, and Strength on Ryan and all of his family so that they know that You are with them. Thank You for continuing to show Your love to all of us, no matter what the circumstances are, in all of our lives, and thank You for reminding us all that we are able to move mountains if we just remember to call on You for help. It is in the wonderful name of Your Son Jesus that we pray this with abundant joy and Thanksgiving. Amen!

  • A friend of mine has prayer requests for a family that is going through a lot right now. Here is what she wrote:Feel bad but right now it’s looking like my time tomorrow is needed for a friend. Her husband in horrible accident Nov. 5th when 15 yo son pulled out in front of transfer truck….he had surgeries on shoulder, bowel, and knee……b/c of horrific wreck, testing showed that he had mass in chest which was confirmed 3 weeks ago with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma……was suppose to start chemo Jan 7 but just 5 days ago he was admitted back into the hospital for an infection in his knee, well infectious disease drs came in and said its a bone infection and that he will need a pic line and antibiotics to clear infection. Well, now yesterday, her best friends husband died, and she needs to go see her, get hubby home from hospital. She needs me to go to her house, take her son to baseball, gym, clean her house……I don’t imagine I’ll be home by 4:30…..but I feel that her house helping her is where I need to be!Sometimes the struggles we face are daunting, and seem to pile up on us all at once. However, remember that nothing is impossible for God, so please lift all of this up to Him, and ask Him to sort it all out so that all of the tribulations may be dealt with and handled. The biggest thing I can pray for is healing and Peace, and I will do that. Thank you for praying for these families.

Praises!

In addition to our prayer requests, we certainly have some praises too!  Let’s shower God with all of His Glory as we celebrate all that He has done for us!

  • Right off the bat I’ve got two great praises! Here is the first praise, as it involves my friend Deb and her husband. Here is what she wrote on Facebook:Hubbly is home from the hospital! Hoozah! He’s feeling good and his spirits are up! One thing was really reinforced by this and that is to continue to live a healthy lifestyle. We’re celebrating every day!
  • Right after that I saw this praise, from my Brother-in-Christ Chris. Here is what he wrote on Facebook:

Visited a little church in Gretna VA this morning. The preacher knew Early from back when she was a child and hadn’t seen her in about 25yrs, He started the day talking about how prayers do get answered and then asked Early and Viktoria to stand up and explained that the church had been praying for us while we were in Poland during the adoption. Total strangers knew us and about the difficult process we went through. What an amazing group of people!

My friends, the power of God is incredible, and He is working miracles that we don’t ever know about.  I urge you all to put your trust, put your faith, in Him, and Believe that it will be okay, because if you believe that with all your heart, it will be okay.  As always, thank you to each and every one of you for taking time to read over these prayer requests, and for praying faithfully over them.  It means more than you will ever know, and I know I speak for everyone that has ever left a request when I say that.

If you ever feel like there is nothing you can do for some situation, or somebody, please remember that you can always pray for them.  That, more than anything, will help them more than anything else.  Never forget that.

Until next time, my friends, may God grant you all His Peace on your lives so that you may have a safe, productful, joyous week, and return safely to us next week.  Amen.

Prayers for the Week – Relaxation

seek God-002

Hello my friends, and welcome to this week’s Prayer for the Week post!  Today, as we close down our Christmas week, one of the biggest blessings I experienced this week was the ability to just relax.  It is a shame that we all aren’t able to do that — my wife, for example, only had Christmas day off — and it is equally a shame that we don’t all choose to relax when we are given the opportunity to do so.  For me, though, relaxation is a true gift that I hope I never take for granted.  We have some serious prayer requests, so let’s get right to them, shall we?

Prayer Requests

  • Please pray for my friend Deb and her husband. Here is what she wrote on Facebook:
Heading back to ICU to see hubby. Praying for some good news today…

Here’s an update from Deb:Oh thank you Mike! He’s had surgery to stop the internal bleeding so prayers for healing would be greatly appreciated. His heart is showing signs of needing another stint (sp) so healing there too. His spirits are great though and have been throughout. We could use some peace of mind! Thank you so much!

    Please pray with me:

Father God, we come to you to pray for your servant Deb and her husband. You know all of the health issues that he is going through, and we know that through You, all things are possible. Please lift up Your Servant so that he may feel the healing power of Your love, and please grant them all of the comfort and strength they need to get through this ordeal. Lord, aside from healing, perhaps the most important thing that we can grant to them is Your Peace to descend on them so they may feel Your presence in their lives. We ask for these things in the name of Your Son Jesus, who lovingly gave of Himself so that we might have Eternal life. It is in His name that we pray with Thanksgiving. Amen!

  • My friend Melissa has a prayer request for her dog. Here is what she wrote on Facebook:Mike, my dog Liam is dying. And he’s me and husbands best friend. I would really appreciate your prayers.
  • My friend Donna left this comment on Facebook.I’m not a Christian, but if you could aim your energy so that my 7 weeks of Unemployment checks that have been held up finally get released to me I would be grateful!

Please pray for those that are saved and unsaved, so that they may know the true Peace of God in their lives. Thanks!

  • My Dreams of Disney reader Becky wrote this comment about Christmas, and how so many people suffer during this time of year. Please remember them in your prayers also.I know so many this year who are struggling with severe health, financial, or relationship problems. Holiday time seems to make struggling with these issues even harder. We must continue to pray throughout each day that they will feel and see God’s presence, peace, joy, and love in their lives, and be blessed with strength. Thank you for your page that reflects this.
  • My friend Catherine posted this on Facebook. Please pray for her Mom:Just to let those of you who know my mom she fell last night in our garage around 11pm & the garage was open & I didn’t find her until 630. She is at baptist health on warmers. Her internal temp was 89 degrees when she got here.
Please say prayers that there are no long term effects.
  • My friend Brenda is left a prayer request on Facebook.  Here is what she wrote:

To all my friends who are faithful believers in the one true God, please join me in praying for this precious family. Beth and Chris are newlyweds. They have a sweet little boy and so much love for one another it warms your heart. They have just found out that Chris has Stage IV cancer. They are keeping the faith and keeping their attitudes positive but I know the power of prayer and that this is what they need more than anything else. Won’t you please join me in lifting up this sweet family? I sure would appreciate it and I know they will too! Thank you!!

As you can see with these prayer requests, there is anything but relaxation going on for the families of these prayer requests.  The biggest thing that I think we, as Christians, can pray for is for us to be able to let go of our problems and let God take over.  When we do that, truly my friends, that is when it feels like the Peace of God pours down on us, and we really have a sense of calm about us.  So, my friends, pray, of course, for healing, comfort, strength, and all of the other things that our prayer requests need; but, on top of all of that, pray earnestly for God’s Peace to descend upon those that are suffering, so that they may know that sense of calm that will see them through the trials and tribulations that they are going through.

Praises!

  • My Dreams of Disney reader Vickie left us a prayer request last week about her jaw.  Here is her update, so give thanks to God for helping her out!  Here is what she wrote:
Merry Christmas to you and your family! Love the pocket watch.Just wanted to thank you for your prayers. Doctors finally got me back up and running with a round of antibiotics and a root canal. I also received my Disney Magic+ flash drive today. Not really sure what it is for as I already had My Disney Experience on my home page, but it sure looks cool.

Wishing you a blessed New Year,
    Vickie Kearns

Vickie, thank you for your words, and we are glad that you are doing better!  I found out that you can use the flash drive just like a normal flash drive, so use it with pride!  It’s really cool to me to have a great flash drive like that!  I hope you have a Happy New Year, Vickie!  Thanks for stopping by!

Thank you everyone for stopping by and contributing to our post — and most importantly, thank you for praying for our requests!  Together, we can make a difference, simply by being the prayer warriors that God wants us to be.  Have a great week, everyone, and we’ll talk to you later!
