Cast Member Memories — The Cookie at the Main Street Bakery

Ideally Disney

Special thanks to my friend Brenda from Ideally Disney for this picture!

As I have mentioned in the past, Disney Cast Members have made magical memories for my family for years of trips to Walt Disney World.  In this special post, I wanted to share with you the “Story of the Cookie!”

The year was 2007, our first trip to Walt Disney World when we stayed on property over at Coronado Springs Resort & Spa.  One morning, we were at the Main Street Bakery getting some breakfast, when all of a sudden a Cast Member came over to us and started talking to Sophie.  I’ll never forget it, she was asking about how our vacation was going, what we were going to do, things like that.  Then, all of a sudden, the Cast Member asked Sophie who her favorite Princess was.  Sophie’s answer: Cinderella.

At that moment, the Cast Member pulls out one of the biggest Chocolate Chip Cookies you’ll ever see, and tells Sophie that before she had gotten to the Bakery, she had been up at the Castle, and Cinderella had asked her to be on the lookout for Sophie, and when she saw her, to give her that cookie and tell her that Cinderella wanted her to have it.  You should have seen Sophie’s eyes light up when she was told this!  This moment was what we love about Walt Disney World — the Disney Magic is so incredibly amped up that you never know where it will strike, and how incredible it will be for your own Princess when she experiences it.

Unfortunately, for some reason I was too dense to think about taking a picture of it, but it is a memory that lives on in my mind’s eye, and will for years to come.  As for the cookie — we ate on that snack for two days, and it was as good a cookie as you’ll taste!

Disney In Pictures Theme: “Think Pink!”

My niece and her husband were visiting us last weekend, and before they left, I asked her for a theme for this week’s Disney In Pictures segment.  She immediately told me “Think Pink!”

As a result, I posted this on Facebook on Monday:

My newly married niece Stephanie and her husband Shane are visiting on their way home from their honeymoon, so I gave her the option to pick the theme for this week’s Disney In Pictures theme! According to Stephanie, the theme will be “Think Pink!” Send me your photos of things at Disney that are pink — whether it be pictures of Piglet, or icing on a cupcake, or maybe a fireworks photo, or something like that. Send them to mickey@mydreamsofdisney.com, include your name, why the picture is special to you, and your blog if you have one. Thanks! Your photos will be featured on Sunday, so send them in!

The response has been incredible, with multiple photos being sent!  If you have sent pictures, you don’t need to send them again — I have them all.  However, if you haven’t sent a photo yet, what are you waiting for?  Take a few moments and send them in, just follow the instructions above!  There is always room for one more photo!

Disney In Pictures Theme: Favorite World Showcase Pavilion!

Hello everyone, it is time to announce the next Disney In Pictures theme!  As you all know, Disney In Pictures is the weekly series that invites you to share your pictures with all of us!  It’s my way of saying thank you to each and every one of you for taking the time to visit us for a quick Disney fix!

This week’s theme is your Favorite World Showcase Pavilion!  We all have our favorites, don’t we?  Why not send in a picture of your favorite pavilion and claim bragging rights for that country?!

To do so, just follow these instructions — it’s really simple:

  • Send your picture to mickey@mydreamsofdisney.com
  • Include your name, and tell me why this country is your favorite.
  • If you have a Disney blog, please feel free to share it!  A little link love never hurts anyone!  If you don’t have a blog, that’s okay also, but if you have a favorite you like to read, you can send that along also!
  • Your pictures (you can send more then one if you like, but keep it to no more then three please) can include family shots or not, that’s entirely up to you!

I look forward to seeing all of the incredible pictures you send in!  This series is as good as you all make it, so send those pictures in, and thanks!

Don’t forget that there is a great Disney Contest starting on Saturday, October 27, 2012, at 12:01AM!  Would you like to win a Dooney & Bourke Disney Cruise Line purse, or a $75 Disney Gift Card or a $50 Disney Gift Card?  Those are the prizes that are being offered, so good luck!  You can read more about it here!

Disney In Pictures Theme: Happy Birthday Epcot!

Hello everyone!  It’s that time again, when we announce what the theme is for this week’s Disney In Pictures!  I know that many of you may be traveling to Walt Disney World for the 30th Birthday of Epcot, so I thought I would make the theme “Happy Birthday Epcot!”  If you are going to be there, see if you have time to shoot me a picture and send it my way!  If you aren’t going to be there, still join in the fun by sending me a picture of Epcot — use your imagination!  It could be your birthday, or one of the previous birthdays of Epcot, or it could just be a picture of Epcot you like, and not have anything to do with birthdays at all!  It’s up to you!  However, you can’t play if you don’t enter, so here’s what you need to do:

  1. Email me your photo to mickey@mydreamsofdisney.com
  2. Include your name, and why the photo is special to you.
  3. If you have a blog, include that too!  It’s an easy way to get your Disney blog noticed!

As always, thanks for participating!  This weekly series is my way of saying thank you to those of you that follow us day in and day out.  It is truly humbling to this writer that you take time to read our blog, and I thank you for that!
