Steamboat Sophie

Hello everyone, and welcome to this week’s Tiggerific Tuesday Trivia!  Today we are going to take a look at a question about Steamboat Willie that Sophie uncovered in the book Disney Trivia from the Vault by Mr. Dave Smith!  This month Sophie picked out all of the questions, she gets a kick out of doing this, so I hope you enjoy!

Q: Which one of Mickey’s foes appeared in Mickey’s first cartoon “Steamboat Willie”?

A: Mortimer
B: Pete
C: Oswald
D: Scrooge

The answer is B: Pete!  Pete was the cat that was messing with Mickey on the steamboat!  If you like, you can see the cartoon for yourself below and enjoy this Disney classic!

Tiggerific Tuesday Trivia – Walt Disney World Resorts!

Contemporary Resort

Hello everyone, and welcome to another edition of Tiggerific Tuesday Trivia!  Along with my wonderful co-hosts Jenn from Disney Babies Blog, Heidi from Heidi’s Head, and our fearless leader Jodi from Magical Mouse Schoolhouse, I’m Mike from My Dreams of Disney, here to give you a little tidbit of Disney Trivia!

My daughter Sophie has been really great about looking up the trivia questions for me, so I have given her the opportunity to look up the trivia throughout the month of February also!  Here is what she found out for today:

Katielu from Knoxville, TN writes: “Which Walt Disney World hotel was the first to be built? How many rooms are there? And is Walt Disney World considered the biggest resort in the world?”

Dave Smith answered: “The Contemporary Resort and the Polynesian Resort opened first, in 1971.  Today, there are almost 25,000 rooms in Walt Disney World hotels, making it by far the largest resort in the world.

Today’s trivia, of course, comes to us from Mr. Dave Smith’s excellent book, Disney Trivia from the Vault.  If you are interested in purchasing the book, click on the link to go to his book site on Amazon.com!  Thanks for stopping by, make sure you visit the rest of the sites by clicking on the links below!  Thanks, and make it a Disney Day (or night!)

Tiggerific Tuesday Trivia – Hercules

Tiggerific Tuesday Trivia

Welcome to this week’s Tiggerific Tuesday Trivia post!  Along with my friends Jenn from Disney Babies Blog, Heidi from Heidi’s Head, and Jodi (our fearless leader!) from Magical Mouse Schoolhouse, I’m Mike from My Dreams of Disney, here to share another Disney trivia tidbit for you to enjoy!

This month my daughter Sophie has been gathering the trivia for us, so here is what she came up with for this week!  Today’s trivia comes from the awesome book Disney Trivia from the Vault, by Mr. Dave Smith!

This week, Terry from Erial, NJ writes: “How did Disney come up with the name Megara for the heroine in Hercules? It’s my last name.”

Dave answered Terry this way: “According to Greek mythology, Hercules married Princess Megara of Thebes.  Although devoted to her and their children, in a fit of madness inflicted on him by Hera, Hercules slaughtered his family.  Obviously, Disney did not want to stick too closely to the original story!

I hope you have enjoyed this week’s Tiggerific Tuesday Trivia!  Leave it to my daughter to come up with a whopper of a trivia question! :)

We’ll be back next week, but in the meantime, click on the links below to see what the other’s are sharing this week!  If you want to purchase this book, click on the link to head over to Amazon!

Tiggerific Tuesday Trivia – Walt Disney’s Apartment

While this is the Walt Disney World Fire Station, not Disneyland, it is similar enough to work for this post.

While this is the Walt Disney World Fire Station, not Disneyland, it is similar enough to work for this post.

Hello everyone, and welcome back to this week’s edition of Tiggerific Tuesday Trivia, the weekly series that introduces us all to another little tidbit of Disney trivia!  Along with Jodi from Magical Mouse Schoolhouse, Heidi from Heidi’s Head, and Jenn from Disney Babies Blog, I’m Mike, writing here at My Dreams of Disney!  This week I’m sharing you a question from Dave Smith’s book, Disney Trivia from the Vault, in which a reader asked Mr. Smith the following question:

Justin from Los Angeles, CA, writes: “What is currently inside the space that was once Walt’s apartment above the Disneyland Fire Station?

Mr. Smith replied: “Walt’s apartment above the Disneyland Fire Station is still there and is still used occasionally by Disney family members and Disneyland executives.  It is still furnished similarly to the time when Walt used it.  One major change — there used to be a fire pole from the apartment down into the fire station below that is no longer there.

Mr. Smith’s book is chock full of great questions and answers that were asked of him during his time answering questions for the articles “Exploring the Archives”, “Archives”, and finally “Ask Dave” during his time with the Disney Channel Magazine, Disney Magazine later on, Disney Insider, and now the D23 website.  I highly recommend this book to anyone that is a Disney trivia buff.  You can link over to the book page on Amazon.com from the link above.

Tiggerific Tuesday Trivia – Walt Disney’s Academy Awards

Welcome to this week’s Tiggerific Tuesday Trivia post!  As usual, we are joined by my great friends Jodi from Magical Mouse Schoolhouse, Jenn from Disney Babies Blog, and Heidi from Heidi’s Head!  I’m Mike from My Dreams of Disney, and for this week, we are taking a look at the Academy Awards as they pertain to Walt Disney.  This information is from the book Disney Trivia from the Vault, by Dave Smith.  This book is a must have in any collector’s library, if you are interested in buying it, click on the link!

Did You Know…that Walt Disney won his first Academy Award on November 18, 1932 — and that he won two that night?!

He won for the Best Cartoon category for the work Flowers and Trees.  1932 was the first year that this category was awarded!  Also, Walt won a special Oscar that was given for the creation of Mickey Mouse!  November 18, 1932 was the four year anniversary of Mickey’s debut in Steamboat Willie at the Colony Theater in New York.

As a special treat, here are both videos courtesy of YouTube for your enjoyment!

Thank you for stopping by today! Make sure you check out the rest of the entries for this week, and have a great day!
