Hello, my friends, and welcome to this week’s Prayers for the Week post. This will be an emotional day for my family today, as we say goodbye to Tommy today. Tommy is just 3 months younger then Cindy, so this has hit her especially hard, in addition to the feelings of grief and loss that Debbie and Paula feel. Please pray for their strength, comfort, and God’s Peace to all of the family that is hurting right now.
If you missed last week’s post, please go back and read it — it is the perfect example of why our prayers matter, because He is Risen!
Prayers for God’s Peace and Strength on our family this morning. Tommy Gibbs passed away Thursday, April 4th, 2013. Please be with the family, especially his wife and other family as they deal with the grief and heartache of knowing that their husband/father/uncle/cousin is no longer with us. We all know that he is in a better place now, so the focus now shifts to the family left behind. Lift them up, please, as they struggle to move on, day by day, week by week, minute by minute, and remember that life does go on, even when we don’t think it ever could. Thanks, everyone. These requests mean so much more to me then you could ever know.
My friend Amanda needs some prayers for her little girl. Here is what she posted on Facebook:We recently found out that Kennedy has a Congenital Diaphgragmatic Hernia that went undiagnosed during my pregnancy. We met with an amazing surgeon today at our local children’s hospital. She’ll be having surgery soon. From what we’ve been told, she is our little miracle in that she is happy, thriving and otherwise healthy, which is not usually the case with this diagnoses. Please keep my brave little girl in your thoughts.
We would also like continued prayers for the little 4 year old boy and his family that were getting ready to start their cruise on Saturday, 3/30. The little boy nearly drowned, and I haven’t heard any update, so please keep them all in your prayers until we find out more information. Thanks.
Please pray for the family of Doris, who is a neighbor of mine. She passed away last week after a long life, and while we are praising her life, we are still sad that she is gone. Please pray for God’s Peace, strength, and comfort to all of the family that knew her best, that they may be comforted in the good memories they have of her.
The first praise is for Tommy, who was led to have his re-baptism ceremony nearly three weeks ago. Because he stood up for Jesus, Jesus is now standing up for Tommy, as it is written in Matthew Chapter 10, Verse 32:
Jesus said “Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven.”
What started out as a prayer request was a praise by the end of the week! Here is what was written for my good buddy Chad:“My friend Chad and his family need prayers to make sure the house they are looking at is the right house for them. Please pray for guidance for him and his family, that God would keep the door open for them if this is where He wants them to be, or that He would show them a better alternative if that is what He desires of them. Thanks!”
I know that there are probably a lot more prayer requests and praises then I listed here, but if there are, I can’t remember them. Please keep our previous prayer requests in your thoughts, even though the week has moved on, doesn’t mean that the need is now gone. Thanks for praying all of these prayers, and lifting up these praises, it means a lot to me, as it does to everyone else that has left a prayer request.
If you have any prayer requests you want to leave with us, please leave a comment here, or on our Facebook page, or via our “Contact Us” email form, and we will pray for you!
Hello everyone, and welcome to a special Friendship Friday post. I have been entirely too remiss in talking about the friends that I have, and what they mean to me, so for today, I plan to rectify that!
Today isn’t a post about one specific friend — today I’m writing about as great a group of people as you will ever meet — even if I’ve never met them — and to tell them all what I think of them and the support that we all give one another.
The Magical Blogorail is the brainchild of Beth from Pursuing the Magic, who started it along with Kristen from Cooking With Mickey, Chad from Days in the Park, Bryan and Crystal from The CanaDisney Blog, Natalie from Meet the Magic, and Jenn from Disney Babies Blog. The concept is simple: come up with a topic for discussion, and have a loop that takes you from one blog to the next, on and on down the list, until you get to the end. Each person writes their own take on the topic, and each person links to the next in the chain. The brilliance is in the simplicity of it all. They came up with the Magical Blogorail as a tribute to that awesome, incredible Monorail that we all know and love, and they chose the blue color for their line, so they are the Magical Blogorail Blue line.
I have had the honor of being part of the second line that Beth got going, and this past February was the second anniversary of that line! Month in and month out, the Magical Blogorail provides useful and helpful tips, tricks, and planning information to help you have an incredible Disney vacation! The Blogorail is now up to eight lines, so there is a lot of Disney information for everyone to share!
But you know what? As incredible as it is to be a part of the Magical Blogorail, what really sets the Blogorail apart from every other group I’m a part of is the people. There have been times when we’ve all needed a group hug, or someone (usually me) just had to tell a corny joke, or something, just to break up the tension that the world sometimes brings into our group, despite our best efforts to keep it at bay.
I think that, without a doubt, the members that we have in our group would tell you that there are times when the best thing they have going is knowing that, no matter what the issue is, there are a group of people that all share the same love for Disney that they can go to, share what is going on in their lives, get a virtual hug, a laugh, or share a cry with, and know that it will be okay.
I know that not a day goes by when I’m not laughing at something dumb that Dave or Bryan say, or cringing at some stupid comment that I make and hit enter without taking a moment to read my comment first.
All in all, though, my friends in the Magical Blogorail are incredible — and I love each and every one of them for different reasons. We’ve all got a special connection, our love of Disney; and a passion to share that love with as many fans as we can. It has led us to great heights, to feats that we never would have imagined possible; and in many ways, our blogs would not be the same if we did not have the Magical Blogorail as a group connection.
So I thank you all, my friends, for your support, patience, understanding, and help (especially help!) as I have taken this itty bitty blog to heights that continues to astound me. As always, I’m here for you, so if you need anything, all you need do is ask.
As for my readers, as always, I thank you for stopping by, and making my little blog one of your stops on your daily Disney fix. The site is only as good as my readers, and I appreciate each and every one of you more then you will ever know.
If you would like to learn more about the Magical Blogorail and it’s members, please click on the link and check out all of the blogs you find listed there! But make sure you’ve got some time on your hands, you could be there a while!
The Friendship Friday series is the brainchild of my good friend Heidi from Heidi’s Head. Heidi is one of the members of the Magical Blogorail Orange Line, and is just one example of the great people that you can meet. Please check out her blog and see who she is featuring today on her blog! If you would like to be considered for inclusion in the Magical Blogorail team, please send me an email (email@example.com) and I will forward your information on to Beth!
Get Ready. Get Set. Go! I am so excited! Last Monday night, I was looking at our DVC points we had for next year (we had borrowed some for our trip this year) and I found out that we could spend a week at the Grand Californian Resort & Spa for 166 points! I talked with Cindy about it, and decided that this would be the perfect time to take a trip out west to experience “The Park” as my good buddy Chad from Days in the Park calls it! I can’t wait! I have so much planning to do, and did I tell you that we have never been before? Fortunately for us, we have some great Disney friends in California, and I’m hoping that we’ll be able to meet up with them — and that they’ll be able to help me with vacation planning. For now, though, here are the questions that I have off the top of my head:
Our check-in date is June 20, and check-out date is June 27. When should I purchase our airfare? What airlines are the best price typically?
Does Disneyland have Magical Express, and is it worth it to use?
I’ve heard there are two airports near Disneyland. LAX and John Wayne. Which is better to fly into?
Who should I get my tickets through? My friends that are TA’s, or Undercover Tourist, or somewhere else?
What are the best places to eat at the parks?
How busy will it be during that time period?
Are there Touring Plans type apps for Disneyland also?
What else am I forgetting? I expect it is quite a bit!
At this point Sophie doesn’t know that we are going! So don’t tell her (she doesn’t read the blog that much, especially with all the schoolwork she has in middle school) so I expect that she won’t see this post anytime soon. :)
Have I told you how excited I am? Thanks for stopping by!
