Saying Thank You on Veterans Day 2014

Here at My Dreams of Disney, our primary focus is, of course, Disney, and all that you can experience at the premier destination spot in the world.  However, while we love visiting Walt Disney World and Disneyland, we also know that we are nothing without our Faith, as you know from our Prayers for the Week posts, and we also know that none of the Disney parks would exist if it wasn’t for the sacrifice of all of the men and women that have paid the ultimate price for the freedom that we have today.

This post is dedicated to all of those brave men and women, and all that they mean to my family on this day: Veterans Day.

When this picture was taken, it was an incredibly cold night, and the tranquility of that night was incredible.  If you have never been to Washington, DC, I urge you to take a trip there and visit all that our Nation’s Capital has to offer — especially it’s historic monuments.

The World War II memorial pays tribute to that horrific conflict, and serves as a reminder for any that choose to remember what our country went through.  History is a big thing — if we fail to remember our history, then we are doomed to repeat it.  I fear that our generation has totally forgotten the sacrifices of the generations that came before us…

My friends, I have never served in the military — medical issues kept me from even being eligible to do so.  I’m not certain that I would have been cut out for military life, but one thing that I do know is that our country has survived because of it’s military — and my family and I honor all that you have done to protect us.  From the bottom of our heart, I thank each and every one of you for your service — whether current or former, whether you are a serviceman or servicewoman, or the family member of a serviceman.  The sacrifice of all of you is honorable, and we do not take that sacrifice lightly.  Our country chooses today, Veterans Day 2014, to give you the honor you deserve — but my family honors you every time we see you in uniform.  Thank you for serving to protect our country.

Thank you.

5 Days: Main Street Electrical Parade

Main Street Electrical Parade

The Main Street Electrical Parade is my favorite parade at any Disney park!

Hello everyone, and welcome to #Day5 in our #DisneyWorldCountdown!  Today we are taking a look at the Main Street Electrical Parade, without a doubt the best parade I’ve seen so far at any Disney park.  I haven’t experienced the Festival of Fantasy Parade yet, and that may very well become my new favorite, but when it comes to this parade, it has it all!  It brings me back in time to when I was a kid and saw this parade; the music is great in my opinion, and the new lighting is so much brighter than the old floats, it is just a really great parade for me.

To Honor America is a patriotic float in the Main Street Electrical Parade.

The “To Honor America” float at the Main Street Electrical Parade is the last float of the parade, and it truly brings a patriotic flair to the closing of the parade.  It is such a great look, but the bald eagle at the end is phenomenal!  Here’s a close up shot of it for you to enjoy!

What is your impression of the Main Street Electrical Parade?  Do you like it or skip it, or do you see it every night you are at the Magic Kingdom?  Let me know in the comments below, and thanks for stopping by!

Thank You to our Veterans

Wordless Wednesday – November Calendar Shot!

Bald Eagle, Main Street Electrical Parade, Magic Kingdom, Veterans Day

Hello everyone, and welcome to this week’s Wordless Wednesday post!  Today’s theme is the November Calendar Shot, and I personally want to welcome back Deb from Focused on the Magic!  Deb is the host of this great series, and last week she was unable to put it on because of Hurricane Sandy issues, but those of us that know and love her did what we could to help and support her and the others in the Northeast that were affected.  We are still praying for all of you that are without power and homes and other essentials, and for those of you back on your feet, we’re giving praise to God for that as well!

The November calendar shot is special to me because of Veterans Day, so I thought, what better way of saying thanks to our troops in a Disney way then by sharing my picture of the Bald Eagle you find at the end of the Main Street Electrical Parade!  I really enjoy this parade, so I want to share some other photos as well, but none of them are as good as the one at the top to me.  What do you think, though?  Do any of these beat the one at the top?  Let me know in the comments, please, and thanks for stopping by!
