Magical Blogorail: Frozen Fruit Snacks

Hello everyone, and welcome to this month’s Magical Blogorail post, were we explore some of the incredibly delicious frozen fruit snacks that can help you stay cool in the summer heat at Disney!

Picture this, if you please. You are at Disney’s Animal Kingdom park, it’s 100 degrees in the shade, the humidity is easily 80%, and you are looking for anything to help cool you down. Can you feel the heat, the sticky humidity, is it driving you crazy right now just imagining it? Well, one thing your family doesn’t do very often is go to Rafiki’s Planet Watch, simply because it’s kind of out of the way, but you decide to go because you’ve heard that it has air conditioning, and there is a train to ride, after all, and fans, etc. So imagine a day as hot as that, and as you are approaching the Conservation Station, you see a small snack cart selling the Minute Maid Frozen Strawberry Lemonade.  12 ounces of frozen deliciousness, only $4 at the time (a snack credit for those on the Disney Dining Plan).  Soft enough to spoon through and enjoy, big enough to share, yummy enough to give a good treat, and cool enough to lower the internal temperature a bit.  In short, a great treat for a hot summer day!

As I was preparing to write this, all of a sudden I had thought — does this frozen treat count as a frozen fruit snack? Well, when I researched it, I did find that the Orangeade that you can get contains 28% fruit juice, but I couldn’t find any word on the Frozen Strawberry Lemonade, so I’m not certain.  However, here’s my thinking on it — it tastes great, it is fruity, so to me, it counts, even if it’s not a frozen banana or something like that.  In the 100 degree temperatures, I guess it’s a matter of semantics, but that’s the way my mind operates at times.

So tell us, please, what are your favorite frozen snacks, and why? I’d love to hear all about it, please let us know in the comments, and thanks for stopping by today!

Pangani Forest Exploration

61 Days: Pangani Forest Exploration

Pangani Forest Exploration

The Okapi are part of the animals you can find and learn about at the Pangani Forest Exploration.

Welcome to the Animal Kingdom!  It is #Day61 in our #DisneyWorldCountdown, and for this day, we are taking a look at the Pangani Forest Exploration, a walking path right over by Kilimanjaro Safaris!  This 3/8th of a mile walking trail has areas to show you more about the gorillas, hippos, and birds that you will encounter here, as well as other animals such as our friend the Okapi.  To be honest with you, this isn’t really an attraction that we do very often.  I think so often we are so focused on the Safari ride that we don’t think about this until we have gotten off and are already over in Asia.  However, it’s attractions such as this that could cause you, should you decide to embark on them, to extend your day at Animal Kingdom from being a half day park like it has the reputation for being and turning it into a full day park.

This bird is the Snowy-crowned Robin-chat.

I had to do some serious cropping to get to a point where you could see the Snowy-crowned Robin-chat bird. It’s funny, because I had no idea what these creatures were, but over on Wikipedia I found an article about the Pangani Forest Exploration and it had links to some of the animals you would find here.  So here I am, clicking on each link to see if it matched my photo — this one did, and that’s why I think it is the Snowy-crowned Robin-chat.

While I think I knew the name of the previous bird, this one has me stumped!

So, I have no idea what this creature is called.  Do you?  If you do, please let me know in the comments, and thanks!  I’m guessing that it is some kind of duck, but I don’t know for certain…

Thank you for stopping by today!  I hope you enjoyed your look at the Pangani Forest Exploration!

Maharajah Jungle Trek

Hello everyone, and welcome to #Day79 in our #DisneyWorldCountdown!  Today we are taking a look at the Maharajah Jungle Trek, a walking path over in Asia that has some great views of the wildlife.  I’ll admit, this isn’t an attraction that we frequent very often, it’s too close to Kali River Rapids and that tends to draw my attention.  However, I plan on seeing it in June and taking plenty of pictures of my own!  You have the opportunity to see some of these animals when you go on the Jungle Trek:

  • Asian tiger
  • Gibbons
  • Elds deer
  • Blackbuck
  • Rodrigues fruit bat
  • Malayan flying fox
  • Banteng
  • Over 50 species of birds

Do you and your family take a walk on the Jungle Trek, or do you skip on by?  Please let me know in the comments, and thanks for stopping by today!

Characters In Flight to Reopen!

Exciting news for those of you that, like me, wish that Characters in Flight was open at Downtown Disney!  Word is out that they are working on the attraction, have installed a new balloon, and are currently in testing!  No word on when it will open, but I am excited to know that it will be reopening again in the future!  I was going to ride it when we were down in June, but it was closed that day, and then it was closed because of the accident in Hong Kong, so there was no way of knowing if it would open up again.

I heard about this from my friend Denny, who saw it over at WDWMagic.  You can check out their article there.  While you are waiting for the attraction to open again, take a look at some of the pictures my wife took when she rode the balloon in 2010!  Enjoy!
