Here at My Dreams of Disney, our primary focus is, of course, Disney, and all that you can experience at the premier destination spot in the world. However, while we love visiting Walt Disney World and Disneyland, we also know that we are nothing without our Faith, as you know from our Prayers for the Week posts, and we also know that none of the Disney parks would exist if it wasn’t for the sacrifice of all of the men and women that have paid the ultimate price for the freedom that we have today.
This post is dedicated to all of those brave men and women, and all that they mean to my family on this day: Veterans Day.
When this picture was taken, it was an incredibly cold night, and the tranquility of that night was incredible. If you have never been to Washington, DC, I urge you to take a trip there and visit all that our Nation’s Capital has to offer — especially it’s historic monuments.
The World War II memorial pays tribute to that horrific conflict, and serves as a reminder for any that choose to remember what our country went through. History is a big thing — if we fail to remember our history, then we are doomed to repeat it. I fear that our generation has totally forgotten the sacrifices of the generations that came before us…
My friends, I have never served in the military — medical issues kept me from even being eligible to do so. I’m not certain that I would have been cut out for military life, but one thing that I do know is that our country has survived because of it’s military — and my family and I honor all that you have done to protect us. From the bottom of our heart, I thank each and every one of you for your service — whether current or former, whether you are a serviceman or servicewoman, or the family member of a serviceman. The sacrifice of all of you is honorable, and we do not take that sacrifice lightly. Our country chooses today, Veterans Day 2014, to give you the honor you deserve — but my family honors you every time we see you in uniform. Thank you for serving to protect our country.
