I just learned this morning that Robert Sherman, one of the two famous Sherman Brothers, passed away yesterday, March 5th, 2012, at the age of 86. The Sherman Brothers as a tandem were instrumental in some of the best music that ever came out of Walt Disney Studios, and I for one am saddened to here of his passing. I love the music that they created, everything from the music from the movie Mary Poppins to a lot of the music for some of the Disney attractions. We even purchased a soundtrack of the Sherman Brothers music, titled appropriately enough, “The Sherman Brothers Songbook.”
I have heard that the brothers didn’t always get along, so my prayer this morning is that, before Robert passed away, that he and Richard were reconciled to one another, and that they understood that they loved one another. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Robert Sherman, that they may know God’s Peace and Strength during this difficult time.
The last thing I want to share with you is this YouTube recording of Julie Andrews singing “Feed the Birds” from the movie Mary Poppins. This is probably my favorite song from that movie, I hope you enjoy it!
