The Glory of the Lord – by Mike Ellis
Hello my friends, and thank you for stopping by today for our Prayers for the Week post! The past two weeks I’m trending towards praising God, not just raising petitions to Him, and I’ve got to say, I feel more joy in my life, despite some sometimes trying circumstances! This week, let’s talk about the Glory of the Lord. I heard a song on Monday — way back on Monday — and I immediately had to start on this post. Look for a video to get you in the Spirit of Worship at the end of this post. But first, let’s pray:
Heavenly Father, thank you for sharing with us, the fallen, the sinners, Your Son, Jesus. Thank you for giving all of us that Believe in Him a second chance at Eternal Life. Lord, thank you for all of your Glory, for all of your Honor, for all of your Love, and for helping us to walk the walk that Jesus would have us walk. Thank you for hearing us, for guiding us, for helping us, for healing us, for all that you do for us. Lord, hear our prayers, and stay with us throughout the week, gently reminding us of the ways that we should share Your Grace, Your Glory, with those that don’t know you. It is in the beautiful name of your Son Jesus that we pray with Thanksgiving. Amen.
Prayer Requests and Praises…
- This past Tuesday, Sophie auditioned for All County Band for Wake County Public Schools. While she didn’t make it, she did earn an Honorable Mention, and the true benefit for us was seeing her reaction to hearing that her classmate James made 3rd chair tuba in the All County Band. I was worried that she would be upset that she didn’t make it, but rather than that happening, she was very excited that James did make it, and I knew at that moment that Sophie’s heart was right where we prayed it would be — celebrating those that made it, and not dwelling on her not making it. Thank you God for all that you’ve given to Sophie!
That’s all that I’ve got for you today — as you can see, it is a small post — but what I urge you to do is to pray, and if you care to, leave your requests with us so that we can pray for you also! Now, please enjoy hearing to Glorious, performed by Paul Baloche. Enjoy, my brothers and sisters, and thank you for stopping by today!
Thank you for praying with us, my friends. Now, please pray the prayer that Jesus taught his Disciples to pray:
Our Father, who art in Heaven,
Hallowed by thy name.
Thy Kingdom come, Thy Will be done,
On earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the Kingdom, and the Power, and the Glory forever and ever.
My friends, please pray for my friend and co-worker Keith Fuller, who suddenly passed away yesterday. Keith is a family man, survived by his wife and children, and by all of those that he touched in his life. UNC-TV will not be the same without him, so please pray for his family, his friends, and everyone else that knew and loved him.
I am very sorry to hear this. I cannot imagine the shock, pain, and disbelief you all must feel. I know that God is close to the broken hearted so I have every confidence He will be with you during this time.
Thank you Robin for your prayers. I know that God is with them. One additional component is that Sherry, Keith’s wife, had just lost her Mom the Wednesday before Keith passed away, so they have been hit doubly hard. Please continue praying for them.
Thanks,
Mike
My friend Becca has a praise this morning! Here is what she wrote on Facebook:
An update for all who prayed for my friend and her twins born at 26 weeks earlier this year. After 5 months both babies are able to go home. The little 1 lb 4 oz baby was discharged today at 8 lbs 5 oz. Thank you to all who prayed. So happy for you LauRae
My friend Early wrote this on Facebook. Please pray for her and her friends:
My heart breaks in hearing of the passing of a friend and neighbor. Please pray for the family.
My friend Stephanie has a prayer request. Here is what she wrote on Facebook in response to my question “What is your Disney wish?”
I’m still here! Good for you…your blog should always be your passion, not something you feel you have to do. Thanks for all your hard work! Right now, my Disney wish is for my engagement ring to be returned. We just got back from our trip, and I lost it in one of the restrooms in New Fantasyland. It’s my own fault for taking it off to begin with, but I was devastated! Hoping a little pixie dust helps it find it’s way home!
Please pray for her ring to be returned safe and sound!
My friend Rebecca has lost a friend. Here is what she wrote on Facebook:
My heart is heavy with grief upon hearing of the passing of a friend. Fly sweet angel.
Please pray for Rebecca, for her Peace and Strength, and for that of the family of her friend as well. This has been a hard week for many of us, so think of all of those that have lost loved ones, and remember them in your prayers as well, please.
In the Praise department, give God praise for my friend Bettie! Her cat Eddie has been missing for weeks, but today he was found and returned home! Thank you God for answered prayers, and the safe return of Eddie to Bettie and her family!
