Welcome to this week’s edition of Prayers for the week of May 19, 2013. This week has been an absolutely crazy week, so for me personally, the biggest praise I’ve got is that we made it through okay! I don’t have a whole lot to lift up right now, so this will be a shorter post then normal — but if I missed hearing about any of your prayers requests or praises, please leave them in the comments and we’ll pray over them! As always, thank you to everyone for praying for these people that need our prayers — the more prayers we can get for them, the better off they will be! Now, on to the prayer list!
Prayer Requests…
- The first prayer request I would like to lift up to you is for my daughter Sophie. This week is a big week for her because she has end of grade tests for 6th grade, along with some final exams for the grades that don’t offer EOG tests. Please pray for her peace, calm, and tranquility during this week, and for that of all the rest of the kids that are going through EOG testing this week as well. Additionally, Sophie has some work to catch up on for school, so please pray that she would get it all taken care of in time so that it would be all done! Thanks, everyone!
- Please also lift up my brother-in-law Otis this week. He is on a business trip to Istanbul, Turkey, so please pray for his safe travels this week, for a productive workweek abroad, and also pray for his Nancy and Anna Jane, who are missing their husband and father!
- My good friend Jon, who we have been praying for with regard to his aunt, is not doing well. His Aunt Oakley had another stroke recently, and is likely not long in this life. Please pray for her salvation (although we all believe her to be saved), and pray for her Peace, comfort, and pray that she not suffer. Also, please pray for her family, who are coming to grips with the loss of their loved one.
- Please pray for my friend Sherry, who has some medical issues to deal with — I won’t go into details, but please pray for her healing. Also, please pray for my other friend Linda, who also has some medical issues to deal with, please pray for her healing as well.
- Please also pray for my friend Donna, who has had a medical issue to deal with, but is now in the stages of recovery, so please pray for her continued healing and comfort.
- Also, please pray for my niece Stephanie, who has some tests to go through in a few weeks, please pray for her comfort, Peace, and strength in the weeks to come, not only because of this, but because her husband Shane is still at basic training. Please pray for him as well, that he get through his training safely, and return home soon.
- On top of these prayer requests, please lift up the unknown prayer requests as well. I’ll say a special prayer to those right now:
Lord, please, on top of the specific prayers that we have been praying for, Lord, please also lift up those prayer requests that we don’t know about. Please take care of the unknown people, those that don’t share their requests, but are hurting, nonetheless. Lord, please pass along your transcendent Peace to all of us, for the whole world, because it just feels like the stresses of this world are becoming more and more, and much harder to take. Lord, also, please lift up our Men and Women of the armed forces, always keep them safe from harm whenever possible, and Lord, please lift up our government officials, regardless of their party — may they be led in their decisions by your guidance, and not blindly, of their own volition. Lord, for every prayer request we leave with you on these Sundays, we know that there are hundreds, even thousands, more that we don’t know about. It is for those that we especially pray today for, for all of those that we don’t know. We pray these things in the name of your beautiful Son, Jesus, with abundant Thanksgiving! Amen.
Praises!
Lord, the biggest praise we have this week is that of your son, Jesus! Please keep us focused upon Him, it truly makes our days better when we remember to lift our concerns to Jesus first!
Thank you everyone for stopping by. Please, share the post along, and include your needs in our prayer list also! Thanks for reading, and God Bless all of you!

You’ve got it, Heidi! We’ll pray for your safe travels and a wonderful week of R&R! Enjoy your time, and we’ll see you on Friday! :)
Also, please, continued prayers for my cousin Barb’s husband Tim! He is in the middle of his chemo treatments and is feeling some of the affects. Please also pray for my other family members that are battling various cancers — my cousin Kelly, my Aunt Ginny, my Aunt Carol on Cindy’s side of the family, and any others that my old mind has forgotten at the moment.
Thanks everyone!
Mike, I love that you are definitely not ashamed of the gospel! Thanks for these prayer request lists! I’d like to add a few:
-My friend is undergoing breast cancer treatment
-My uncle is undergoing cancer treatment for the 2nd time in a year
-(praise & prayer) My great-nephew, who was born a month preemie and drug addicted, is improving and showing no drug-related health issues. However, he is still having withdrawal symptoms.
-Someone dear to me is struggling with alcoholism
Jodi,
Thank you for the kind words — this is truly a labor of love, it is my very small way of Witnessing to our Lord, and hopefully helping out many people in the process who may feel like they have no avenue to voice their requests. It is funny how in many ways it is easier to bare your feelings and fears to a complete stranger then it is to bare them to a loved one, so if this helps people’s prayers be heard and prayed over, then it’s the least I can do.
Of course we will be praying Healing thoughts and prayers for your friend, your Uncle, and your Great Nephew — all of whom I have been praying for myself already. I’m also going to pray for your loved one, that they would be able to get the help they need to battle that disease, and be able to rely on Jesus to lift them and carry them during the times when they are about to fall down again, as He tries to do for all of us, if we just ask Him to.
Jodi, I’m also going to pray a special prayer for you, my dear friend. You have become one of my closest friends, and not a day goes by when I am not lifting you, Heidi, Mary, Beth, Beth, Melissa, and all of the rest of the Blogorail group up in praise!
Please lift up my husband and his family. They are facing the difficult decision of moving my father in law into a nursing home.
Diana,
We will pray for your family — it is always a tough thing to have to move anyone into a nursing home, and I’m sorry your family is going through all of that. The biggest key in my humble opinion is that your Father-In-Law doesn’t feel that he is being kicked aside through all of this. Keep him and his needs the focus of your attention until he is truly comfortable in his new surroundings. I know I’m likely preaching the choir, but I’m writing this anyway in case someone else is going through this and hasn’t thought of these things.
Diana, may God’s Peace and Strength descend upon you all in this time, and may He use this difficult time as a way for all of you to become even closer then you already are. In Jesus’ wonderful name I pray with Thanksgiving. Amen!
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.Ephesians 3:20-21
So many prayers concerns, and yet we have one who sits at the right hand of the Father living to intercede for us. Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them. Hebrews 7:25
There are so many concerns, but we don’t need to worry because He lives.

Hey Sis,
Thanks for sharing, as always, your prayer requests — some of them are ones that we are already praying for, but please keep us posted when you have more information also! Also, thank you for giving us a lift by sharing your Scriptures with us — when I read scripture, I am almost always left with a feeling of peace and tranquility just by reading them. Thanks!
Love you, Robin!
Mike
Please pray for Scarlett, a beautiful first-grader who is fighting leukemia. She and her family are an inspiration to everyone that has the blessing of knowing them.
Thank you for adding that, Lisa! We’ll be praying for Scarlett, such a beautiful name for a wonderful girl. We’ll pray for her healing, and for God’s Peace to come upon her and her family so that they might have the comfort and strength they need in the weeks to come to be strong for their little girl!
Over on Facebook, Brandi left this prayer request:
“Please help me pray for the change our family needs…thanks”
Brandi, we’ll be praying for you, not only for the change your family needs, but that the Lord would speak to you and make sure that you know the exact change He wants your family to make — that is an important part of it. Go with God, and may God’s Peace descend upon you and all your family in your time of need!
Please pray for my 89 year old uncle. He had a stroke 3 weeks ago, and desperately wants to get out of the hospital. The good news is that he is progressing nicely with his PT and OT. As soon as he can walk without a walker they will release him. Thank you!
Sue, we’ll lift up your uncle with prayers for healing, and for comfort and strength as well for him and you all! It’s a big praise that he is progressing well, but we’ll keep praying and hope that you will update us when there is a change in his condition!
Thanks,
Mike
I just found out you have this area of your site… LOVE IT
My first prayer request is for my marriage, we’ve been struggling our whole marriage (20yrs), there’s been alot of hurt, need healing, strength, wisdom, etc.
My second prayer request is for my daughter Sierra. She is a Junior in High School. She is struggling to bring her grades up and she has some classes to make up to graduate. Pray for her strength, wisdom, speed, etc. She needs to graduate on time.
My last request is for healing…. I have diabetes and weight issues I’m struggling to resolve. I need strength, endurance, willpower, etc.
Lainie,
We just started this prayer request series on March 3rd, so it’s only been around about 12 weeks. If you don’t mind, please feel free to go through the entire series and lift them up in prayer, it never hurts to go back through the series. Plus, it can be beneficial to see the answering of prayer as the weeks go by. Here is the link to the series: http://www.mydreamsofdisney.com/category/services/prayer-requests/
Now, Lainie, of course we will pray for you. I’m lifting you up right now, prayers for your marriage — that you and your husband would continue to see the blessing that you are for each other, and to remember that God is with you both. May you both receive God’s Peace upon you, and know that the hurt, the healing, and all the rest is available to you both if you just ask God to give it to you. I know that you both have been struggling for some time, the beauty of it is that, if you think about how you have still stuck it out despite the hurt feelings, imagine how wonderful it would be once you get these problems sorted out and can move into that true state of being with one another. That is my greatest prayer for you, that you both receive the forgiveness from one another that you need, and that you both also forgive one another. I urge you to lean on the Lord for this, He will help you both out, if you just take the time to ask Him to help.
We will also pray for your daughter Sierra. May she not stress over the issues that she is having with school, but instead, channel her energies into making the changes she needs to make to get past this hurtle and enter her Senior year full of optimism and hope for the future, and not worry about what might be. May God grant His Peace to her, that she would know that all will be well, as well as the wisdom to make the right decisions at this stage in her life and beyond, as well!
Lastly, Lainie, we will pray for your diabetes, that you would be able to manage your body the way it needs to be handled, that you would have healing, an increase in strength, endurance, willpower (I can certainly use that willpower also!), and that God would remind you that you that perfection lies within as well, and that, if you are one of the Children of God, you are healed in Spirit, even if your body is telling you otherwise.
Lord, please lift up our Sister Lainie. She is going through some trying times with her marriage, her daughter’s schooling, and her health concerns. Please hear her and our prayer, and work through her to provide answers to the problems that she has, both now, and forever. Thank you, Lord, for allowing us to pray for our sister, and thank you for lifting her into Your gentle embrace as You remind her that You, Lord, are for her, and will carry her when she falls. It is in the name of Your son Jesus that we pray with Thanksgiving. Amen!
My Dreams of Disney reader ShannAn has a prayer request for her sick son. Here is what she wrote:
My 14 year old has strep and is running 103 temp. The meds they gave him last night are now making him sick. Thanks
ShannAn has an update to the prayer request:
His fever finally broke overnight but he’s still sick. Thanks Mike!
Thank you so much, Mike! The feeling is definitely mutual, as I have come to love you as a very dear brother in Christ! Praying that your day will be blessed.
Prayers for my Aunt Ti and her family, please. They are having to move and are looking to rent. They have a place picked out, but please extend your prayers that they may get the house they need and have the ability to get everything moved in a short timeframe.
Thanks everyone!
Please include the people of Oklahoma in your prayers tonight and over the coming weeks as they strive to deal with the tragedy that has befallen them. Here is the prayer I wrote up on Facebook tonight about it:
Heavenly Father, we all know that Your ways are mysterious to us, and we also know that all things are done for your Glory. Lord, please help us as we deal with the tragedy, as we lift up those who have lost loved ones in the disasters today; please wrap Your loving arms around the sick, the wounded, the lost. For all of the people that may be trapped somewhere, please care for them until help can be gotten for them. For those that are reaching out to their fellow brothers and sisters, whomever they are, please give them the strength to continue the fight until all are accounted for. Lord, we don’t even pretend to know why such a thing happens, but we do know that You are God, and that You are in control. Please show us the side of humanity that is sometimes missing — the compassion that we all have for our fellow human, and please, stop the destruction so that all can be found. We ask these things in the name of your Son Jesus. Amen.
My Facebook friend Debbie is asking for prayers — she is taking her son James Jr. to the ER. No details yet, I’ll keep you posted as I hear them. Please pray for his healing, for their safe arrival, and for their peace in this time of stress!
My friend Lee has an immediate prayer request. If anyone sees this, please lift up her friend in prayer. Here is what she wrote:
A friend of mine needs some serious prayers right now. C’mon people, pray with me. Positive thoughts and energy. Xo
In the midst of all of this, I also saw a plane crash on the internet today. It was a 747 that went down, and it cost the lives of 7 Americans if I remember correctly. Please pray for the families of those people, that they would know the Peace of God to give them strength in the days ahead.
My friend Tanya added a prayer request on Facebook. Here is what she wrote:
A Dallas Firefighter lost is life today fighting a 6 alarm fire. We should add this family and all first responders to her prayers….
Pleasee pray for my friend Jackie on the passing of her daughter yesterday. Shea was born blind and with many medical problems..so it is a blessing that we had her past 20.
Lisa, I am so sorry to hear about your friend Jackie’s daughter. Words can not convey the sorrow that we feel when we lose a loved one. My prayer for Jackie is that she is able to receive God’s Peace upon her soul, and that He would give her comfort and strength in the days and weeks to come as she attempts to come to terms with this tragic situation. We also give praise to God for the blessing that Jackie’s daughter was, that she was able to live into her 20s and be a strong witness for God — whether or not she knew that she was or not. I pray for her salvation, that she knew Jesus, and that He knows her as well. I am an eternal optimist, so I believe that she is with Jesus right now, and I give praise that all of the tribulation she knew in this life is now over, and that she now has a perfect body, with no pain, no suffering, and no need for tears or sadness.
Please tell Jackie that we are praying for her, all across the world, and that we will be lifting her up daily.
In His Service,
Mike
One of my friends has a prayer request. Please pray for my friend, who’s husband is going through some medical issues. Please pray for God’s Peace to descend upon her, her husband, and their seven year old daughter, and also pray healing prayers for her husband. Lastly, please pray for all of them to have the strength to be able to fight this together in the days and weeks to come. Thanks, everyone!
Mike
My friend’s husband has tests today, so let’s pray also for great results! Thanks everyone!
Please pray for my friend Linda — she is the child of a United States Marine Corp retiree, but is also the mother of a United States Air Force helicopter pilot who is about to be deployed to Afghanistan. Please pray for her child and their safe deployment, and swift return home. Thanks everyone!
