This past June, our extended family took a fabulous vacation to Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, the new Disney Vacation Club resort that opened in 2009. Our family had purchased points in DVC in June, 2010, and this was the first time we had stayed at at DVC resort. Let me tell you, we were not disappointed by Bay Lake Tower!
BLT is a 16 story modern resort, and on the top floor they have the Top of the World Lounge, a special dining and rooftop viewing location for the fireworks at the Magic Kingdom. We were fortunate enough to stay in room 8141, which was on the south side of the building, with a lake view, overlooking the pool area. This is one of the shots of the pool that I took off of our balcony.
Since there were nine of us on this vacation, we spent extra points and reserved a two bedroom suite at BLT. That room had one master suite — which had a king-sized bed, a jacuzzi bathtub that had panels you could open up to look out the window with, and a very spacious rainforest shower.
In addition to that room, the second bedroom had it’s own bathroom as well, complete with bathtub and shower, and two queen beds in that room, along with it’s own balcony (the master suite has a balcony also, but you can also get to it from the living room).
Lastly, the living space part of the room included a queen size sleeper sofa, a twin size pullout chair, a full kitchen, and a stackable washer and dryer. Unfortunately, while we were there, I never once thought to take photos of the room itself beyond the balcony pictures, and some in the hallway, but please trust me when I tell you that the room is immaculately designed, and one that was worth every point of the 384 that we spent to stay there! So, without further ado, I give you — the photos!

My wife Cindy absolutely loved staying at Bay Lake Tower, and could see us staying there again in the future. I also enjoyed it, the only thing that I didn’t like about it was that, being so modernly designed, it is lacking in the theming that you get at a lot of the other Disney resorts. Sophie loved the pool, the bathtub, the balcony, eating breakfast on the balcony, the views of Magic Kingdom, the proximity to Magic Kingdom, the elevators, the rooftop overlook, and everything else!

If you click on the image above, you will see that you can stay at a studio room at BLT during the summer for a week for 183 points, which in my opinion isn’t bad considering how close you are to the Magic Kingdom! Some finishing touches include a really cool walkway to the Contemporary Resort, access to all of the amenities of the Contemporary Resort,
If you are curious as to what the Disney Vacation Club is all about, stay tuned, I’m writing a post about the ins and outs of DVC, so look for that later on.
I hope that you have enjoyed my review of Bay Lake Tower. How many of you have stayed there or have plans to stay there?
Sounds great!
