Thank you for stopping by to read this month’s Magical Blogorail Red loop. This month we are going to talk about our favorite attraction at Walt Disney World, and why that attraction is our favorite.
When I heard the theme, my first thought was that I had already done this for my blog before, so it would be a piece of cake to write. However, the more I think about it, the harder the decision becomes. There are so many awesome attractions to choose from. There is the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. There is Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and even such great attractions as The Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean. Then don’t forget Peter Pan’s Flight, “it’s a small world”, and Expedition Everest. So with so many choices, which one is my favorite?
For a pure adrenalin rush, in my opinion, nothing compares to the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. But for a more complete, Disney themed attraction, I’ve revised my initial selection of the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and have decided that the Pirates of the Caribbean is my favorite attraction!
The reasons are many; for starters, the theming of Adventureland really sets the stage for approaching the ride location. Additionally, the sign for Pirates is just one of those classic signs that you can stare at for quite a while, soaking in all of the details.
In addition to the sign, and the theming of Adventureland, the next thing that draws you into the whole Pirates story is the queue. I love all of the cannons, the scene with the skeleton pirates playing chess — by the way, did you know that the game is in a stalemate? I love how the queue area was utilized in the Kingdom Keepers series of books. Every time that I enter the queue, I try to find the “hidden” dungeon where they locked up the villain that time.
Then there is the ride itself. There are so many things to like about it that I hardly know where to start! I guess the first thing that strikes me is that the ride has such an iconic following that they took the ride, and made the movies based on the ride! Then, when the movies did so well, they added part of the movies back into the ride, giving it a dimension that it never had before, yet still keeping the essence of the ride the same.
I have never really been interested in visiting Disneyland Paris, but I was listening to Mouse Chat one episode, and I heard that there is a restaurant in DLP that actually looks over the town scene of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride! If I was going to go to DLP, it would be for that reason primarily. Better yet, how about we implement a restaurant like that at Walt Disney World?!
Speaking of the town scene, the trip through town is perhaps my favorite part of the whole ride. There is so much to see, so many little details that the Imagineers have included in the ride, it is just an awesome attraction.
So, for these reasons, plus many more that I haven’t been able to formulate into words, the Pirates of the Caribbean is my favorite attraction at Disney World. What is your favorite attraction? Tell me in the comments, and thanks for reading!

Pirates of the Caribbean is by far my favorite attraction! It was the first time I saw animatronics. Let's just say I was impressed by the scene between the two ships battling, so you can imagine how much I loved the rest of the attraction. Of course, I was just 13 at the time and was a kid who had to know how everything worked. It sparked my curiousity and eventually lead me to be an engineering major (though I never followed through on that and wished I did).
And, Beth, next week I need to get to everyone's before you – you are stealing all my answers!! Just kidding, but I also love the TTA!
I hate that this loop has to come to an end! I love reading everyone's favorites! I love your reasons why PotC is your favorite!! Have you been to the DL version!? It's even better than WDWs in my opinion!
As for my favorite ride- I agree with your statement: “the harder the decision becomes. There are so many awesome attractions to choose from.” I can choose a favorite at each park and in each category, but I HAVE to ride the People Mover each time I visit! :)
We love Pirates too. A ride my two year old enjoys! He gets a little scared during the drops, but then loves the rest of it. I really love eating at the Blue Bayou and watching all the boats pass by. We usually save it for special occasions.
I can't believe you don't care about Disneyland Paris. That place is AMAZING! Their Haunted Mansion is the best hands down. I've been lucky enough to go twice. The second time I was with my husband, and we got there when the park was closing in a hour. Poor planning on my husbands behalf (long story), but we went in anyway. The ticket person warned us that we only had an hour and were we sure we wanted to still go inside and pay all that money. It was our last day in Paris, and we couldn't go back. My husband couldn't believe how spectacular the park was, and was sorry he made us late. Luckily the park was dead, so we go a lot in. Anyway long comment (maybe tmi), but my point is don't count DLP out! If you get the chance, GO! :D
Anyway great post, and I do like the entrance. I had a great time there last time I went, and hold some great memories in that area. :)
Ok another personal favorite of mine as well. I cannot believe how old the ride is yet the effects are so amazing!! Disney is just amazing!!
I love Pirates, even more after the movies, but one of my favorite parts is the gift shop which is one of the best anywhere in the parks.

I have come to the distinct revelation that every time I do one of these “My Favorite” type posts, EVERY TIME MY ANSWER IS DIFFERENT! :) I guess I love them all, and can't decide! Some others I can't do without include the TTA also (funny, but we have a commuter bus line here in Raleigh/Durham that is called the TTA), as well as Carousel of Progress, and many others!
Mike you are so funny!! I feel the same way…depending on my mood will depend on what I pick as a favorite for that time. :0)
