Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run

Yesterday we introduced you to Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. Today we are going to talk about the other great attraction to be found at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disney’s Hollywood Studios park. That would be Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.

Smugglers Run opened at Walt Disney World on August 29, 2019, a little over 3 months before Rise of the Resistance did. When I got to witness Galaxy’s Edge for the first time in July, 2020, I was absolutely blown away by how you are drawn into the middle of Batuu. Then, as we were walking, there she was — the Millennium Falcon, right in front of us!

The beauty of our July trip was that we were able to be there right when Disney reopened from the pandemic closure, so the park capacity was significantly decreased. As a result, we were able to walk right on to Smugglers Run and enjoy the ride. Let me tell you, the Audio-Animatronic that the Disney Imagineers did of Hondo Ohnaka for Smugglers Run is one of the absolute best that I have ever seen!

If you have a full complement for your ride (that is a total of six), I suggest you Google how to enable Chewy mode for your experience on the Falcon. That will replace the voice from being Hondo Ohnaka and instead give you Chewbacca, which would be quite an experience! There is a specific sequence you need to follow though to make it work; I’ve never experienced it myself.

So tell me, have you experienced the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run attraction at Walt Disney World? If so, what did you think? Let me know in the comments, and thanks! I look forward to hearing all about your experiences!

Can I help you plan your next Disney trip? If so, send me an email to mike@pixievacations.com, or feel free to request a free, no-obligation quote online today! Thanks for spending time with us today, and please tell me in the comments what your favorite Walt Disney World attraction is! Thanks, and have a great Disney day!

About Mike Ellis

Mike has been a Disney fan since his first trip to the Magic Kingdom in 1979 when he was 11 years old. Since that first trip, he has seen parks open, lands close, and attractions come and go, but one thing remains the same, his love for Disney is as strong as ever.

His Disney adventures caused him to start My Dreams of Disney because he wanted to document for his family and friends all of the special Disney Memories he has enjoyed with his family, and since that first post in 2010, Mike's hobby has become his passion!

Now a Travel Consultant with Pixie Vacations for over nine years, Mike has helped many of his readers plan and have incredible Disney vacations of their own. Check us out on Facebook and Twitter.
