The Carousel of Progress, located in Tomorrowland |
When it comes to some of the best attractions, you aren’t always going to find the E-Ticket rides, such as roller coasters and other attractions at the top of the list. Sometimes, it’s the ride that shows us where we came from — and where we are headed — that captures the imagination of generation after generation of Walt Disney enthusiasts. That is why Carousel of Progress, with it’s revolving theater, and timeless charm, is one of my absolutely favorite attractions in all of Walt Disney World!
Almost all of us know the story behind CoP — that it was developed by Walt Disney himself for the 1964 New York World’s Fair; that this attraction was moved to Walt Disney World, and is the only attraction at Walt Disney World that has a direct physical connection to Walt Disney; and rumor has it that Walt Disney said that this attraction should never close.
Carousel of Progress is the longest running stage show in the history of American theater, and was reportedly Walt Disney’s favorite attraction. The man has great taste. I for one love the nostalgia behind the attraction, of looking back in time to see some of the improvements that have been created over the years in technology and just general progress; and I love the song that was written by the Sherman Brothers!
There’s a great big beautiful tomorrow, shining at the end of every day. There’s a great big beautiful tomorrow, and tomorrow’s just a dream away!
Man has a dream, and that’s the start. He follows his dream with mind and heart. When it becomes a reality, it’s a dream come true for you and me!
So there’s a great big beautiful tomorrow, shining at the end of every day. There’s a great big beautiful tomorrow, and tomorrow’s just a dream away!

So, now that the song is stuck in your head, take a look at some of the photos from the attraction, and dream about the day you’ll get to experience this classic trip through the past, as you look at the progress that has been made over the years! Enjoy!
