#DisneyTrivia – Bay Lake Tower

Bay Lake Tower
Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort is celebrating a birthday!

Hello everyone, and welcome to our Disney Trivia post for this week!  I’m joined by my great friends Jodi from Magical Mouse Schoolhouse and Heidi from Heidi’s Head, and today I’ve got a special birthday to share with you!

It was on this day in 2009 that Bay Lake Tower, Disney’s 9th Disney Vacation Club property (and 6th at Walt Disney World) opened for business!  Happy 5th Birthday BLT!

Here are some facts that you might find really interesting:

  • Bay Lake Tower is the first Monorail resort to open in over 20 years! The previous Monorail resort to open was the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, which opened on June 28, 1988!
  • Bay Lake Tower is 16 stories tall, and features a pedestrian walkway called the Skyway Bridge
  • Similar to the Contemporary Resort, Bay Lake Tower features a lounge at the top of the building, call the Top of the World Lounge.  The difference is that you can’t order off of the full menu (unless this has changed) — it’s only appetizers and drinks.

I hope that you have enjoyed learning about Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort!  My family has stayed there twice, and we really enjoy the proximity to the Magic Kingdom that it brings!  Now, please go check out the rest of the entries, and have a great week everyone!

About Mike Ellis

Mike has been a Disney fan since his first trip to the Magic Kingdom in 1979 when he was 11 years old. Since that first trip, he has seen parks open, lands close, and attractions come and go, but one thing remains the same, his love for Disney is as strong as ever.

His Disney adventures caused him to start My Dreams of Disney because he wanted to document for his family and friends all of the special Disney Memories he has enjoyed with his family, and since that first post in 2010, Mike's hobby has become his passion!

Now a Travel Consultant with Pixie Vacations for over nine years, Mike has helped many of his readers plan and have incredible Disney vacations of their own. Check us out on Facebook and Twitter.
