Hello everyone, and welcome back to another edition of Disney In Pictures, the weekly series that invites you to share your photos with all of us! My family has been to Walt Disney World several times, but so have you, so it always amazes me to see what photos you have to share. This week’s theme is “Disney From Above” — pictures specially chosen to give a birds eye view of Disney World, Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, or any other Disney venue! We’ve got a great lineup for you, so sit back, relax, and enjoy this week’s Disney In Pictures!
First up is my friend Linds. She has a picture to share from Disneyland. Here is what she had to say:
From the Mickey Fun Wheel at California Adventure (DLR), you can see Soarin’ and over to Space Mountain and the Matterhorn!

[Editor’s Note: Linds, I love the mountains in the background also! Thanks for sharing!]
Next I’m sharing with you my friend Dulcie’s entry. Dulcie is a regular here, and I’m glad that she finds time to share her photos! She is also a writer at Chip & Company! Here is what she had to say:
Hello Mike
Here are 3 photos from the Characters in Flight hot air balloon ride at Downtown Disney. This has been one of the coolest things we have done so far at Disney!! It was so neat to see Downtown Disney from the air and the surrounding area. It put a whole new perspective on the grounds and actually how big the area is. When we walk around there it doesn’t seem that big but when you see it from the air you realize that it does cover a lot of ground. We went up to the highest point that the balloon could go which was around 400 ft. The day was nice and calm so we got to stay up just a little longer too, which made it worth the money.
We love doing new things each trip to check off of our to do list and I’m glad we checked this one off.

[Editor’s Note: Dulcie, I had the chance to ride this when Cindy, Sophie, and my niece Stephanie rode it, and I chose not to. I’m regretting that decision now that it has been closed. :( Thanks for sharing your photos!]
Over at Mouze Kateerz, we’ve got a new writer, David is his name! Welcome aboard, David! He wanted to share some photos for this week’s post. Here is what he had to say:
Hey Mike,
I’m a new addition to the Mouze Kateerz group, and saw your call out for “from above” pics of Disney… thought I’d share with you a couple that I like.
The first picture is taken on Everest, as you climb the mountain before the ride really gets going… I love the view and the fact that even though Animal Kingdom is somewhat segregated from the other parks, its still all One World–hence the Hollywood Tower of Terror in the distance. Right before this view, I had snapped a somewhat blurry shot that gave you a view of the Contemporary…
The second picture with the crocs was taken on the Wild Africa Trek in Animal Kingdom. My wife, The Lovely Steph Leann, and I were some of the first people to take the tour when it was offered, and we loved the rickety rope bridges that took you over the crocodile pools… well, I loved it, her not so much. I would go ahead of her, and as she crossed it slowly, I stood on the end and jumped to shake the bridge, above the crocs. She was not happy.
The final picture is pretty obvious… taken in the few seconds of daylight between the slow climb of the service elevator, right before the first drop on, you guessed it, the Hollywood Tower of Terror. I try to get this shot when I can, and can snap off about 9 or 10 before we drop–but usually only one or two turn out because its such quick movement.
Anyway, I hope these fit the theme!
Thanks, David for sharing those photos with us! I’ve got one from the Tower of Terror that I like as well. It’s about the only way I can make it through that ride! Anyway, here it is:
My good friend Denny is next up in our view. As you all know, Denny is one of the writers for Mouze Kateerz, and a Florida resident to boot, so he is always visiting the parks! In fact, look for a special post later this week with some great pictures taken by Denny! Here is what he had to say about this week’s theme:
Not being one to feel comfortable very high off the ground, this was a challenge! The first photo is of the old Skyway ride at the Magic Kingdom. Having worked on a similar ride during my amusement park days in Cincinnati, I knew this would be okay and offered the best overhead view at the Magic Kingdom. The second photo is one that I took from that Skyway ride, the old 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea ride! I still love that movie. I thought this ride was great themed very well. The last photo is one that I don’t even remember taking. Knowing my fear of heights, I was surprised to find this photo that I took from the Swiss Family Robinson Tree House! Quite a view from up there! Glad I did it then because these old knees would never be able to do it now! LOL
Magical Grins!
Denny
Denny, I loved the Skyway, it is one of the things that I wish Walt Disney World still had, and I even wrote a post about what I would bring back! In addition, the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse is one of my favorite attractions, and I go up in it as often as I can when we visit. Here is a picture I took from the top. Enjoy, and thanks for sharing your photos!
Next up is the DizzneeMomma (and Mouze Kateerz writer) herself, Cindy! Her son had a photo that she wanted to share with us from Blizzard Beach. Here is what she had to say:
Hi Mike,
This photo was taken by my 13 year-old son, May 1999 at Disney’s Blizzard Beach. Seems it was taken somewhere on the stairs leading to Summit Plummet. I get dizzy just looking at it. I know for certain I will not ever see Blizzard Beach like this in person. No way. Never.
Hope you can make use of this shot. Seems fitting for your theme. :)

[Editor’s Note: Cindy and her family recently moved to the area around Walt Disney World! To read about their trip, check out part five of their journey!]
Next up on our list is my friend Donna from DISTherapy! You may remember last year I contributed to the 40 Days to 40 Years series on her site to commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the Magic Kingdom. Well, this year she is also doing the 30 Days to 30 Years in celebration of Epcot’s 30th Birthday, and I’ll be celebrating with a post during that project as well! Donna wrote about a special attraction over at Disneyland Paris, here is what she had to say:
In an attraction that is completely unique to Disneyland Paris, Alice’s Curious Labyrinth is an adventurous hedge maze full of twists, turns, and finally, the Queen of Hearts Castle.
After climbing the 86 steps to the top, you are rewarded with wonderful views of Fantasyland and the tip of Space Mountain: Mission 2. (Luckily, no Queen in sight!)
Below, is the maze itself; 366 metres long (that’s almost a quarter of a mile to those of us in the US), which is themed with scenes and characters from Alice in Wonderland.
My sons and I so enjoyed this bit of exercise during last summer’s trip, and just loved that this attraction was like nothing we had ever seen at a Disney Park. With the UK so close, Disneyland Paris was the perfect spot for this homage to Alice!
My friend Melissa from Picturing Disney is up next. She has three photos to share, two from the Magic Kingdom and one from Disneyland! Here is what she had to say:
The first two pictures are from my very first trip to WDW in 2006. One is from the first time I rode Dumbo and the other is from Astro Orbiter. I haven’t ridden Astro Orbiter since that time- the lines always seem so long! I love this weeks theme because it reminded me that after 6 years and so many changes to MK I have to ride again next trip! :) The third pic is from Disney’s California Adventure Park. I took this from Mickey’s Sun Wheel overlooking Paradise Pier. I love how you can see the rides in action- especially California Screamin! :)
Thanks!
My friend Lori is up next. She and her son are sharing some photos from Wilderness Lodge! Here is what she had to say:
Last December I took my DS son Dennis on a one on one trip to Disney World. We stayed at Wilderness lodge. We got to be “Flag Family!” I was so excited. It had always been on my Disney Bucket List! Ranger Jack was great and the view…amazing

My great friend Amanda is next. She is sharing a photo taken from Bay Lake Tower. Here is what she had to say:
Sitting high above the Bay Lake Tower Resort, looking out at the Contemporary and the Magic Kingdom…Magic all on its own.
Rounding out this week’s photos, my friend Deb from Focused on the Magic has some photos to share. Here is what she had to say:
Hi Mike,
This week I’m sharing a few shots of Wishes that I took from the Contemporary CL balcony in 2008. I think it’s called “The Atrium Lounge”. It’s a tiny balcony and very high up. Once I got over just how high up we were, I could appreciate the spectacular view of the Magic Kingdom and Wishes.Debs, owner/author of www. Focused on the Magic.com. Writer for The Disney Moms, proud member of The Magical Blogorail and The Disney InsidEARS.
Thanks for stopping by this week to see all of the photos my readers had to share! Stay tuned this week as we bring more posts from the World to help you remember the great trips you have had, or perhaps to help you plan for that next great trip!
Mike- I don't know HOW you and Picturing Disney got such spectacular shots through the cages at the Mickey's Fun Wheel. Mine are full of the grate and not much else! So glad to be here today; everyone's shots are super!!
