St. Patrick’s Day at Walt Disney World!

St. Patrick's Day!

Biergarten – Not your usual location to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day!

Hello everyone, and thank you for stopping by today as we join in on the Magical Blogorail’s #RidingtheRails series this week!  Today we are gearing up for St. Patrick’s Day, which is on March 17th this year.  I know that most people think of restaurants like Raglan Road at Downtown Disney when they think of St. Patrick’s Day:

Raglan Road is located at Downtown Disney

However, since I don’t drink very much, I like a restaurant that has a great atmosphere, great food, and great spirits, all rolled into one!  For me, that restaurant is the Biergarten, located in Germany in Epcot’s World Showcase!

My family has eaten at Biergarten twice in the past three years, and we have enjoyed it each time.  The first time we ate there was with my sister-in-law Nancy and her family, and then last year we ate there with our friends Brenda and Butch.  Brenda is a Pixie like me, and we are great friends.  That dinner was exceptionally special because Sophie and I got to dance, and it meant as much to her as it did to me.  Here are a couple of photos you might enjoy:

I guess I’m practicing for my first dance after she get’s married — several years from now!!!

I know that Biergarten is not your typical Irish type restaurant to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with — but if you can overlook the German food, and the German decor, and the German Beer, well, then I think you’ll love it for St. Patrick’s Day! Now, a question for you all.  Have you ever eaten at Biergarten — at any time, not just for St. Patrick’s Day?  If so, what did you think of it?  Please let me know in the comments, and thanks for stopping by!  Go ahead and leave your comment and then click the button to see the rest of the great entries!

Middle of Winter? Let’s think about the Flower and Garden Festival!

Although it’s the middle of winter, and not very warm out, we thought we would talk a bit about the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival!  This yearly spring event brings Epcot World Showcase to life as thousands and thousands of flowers are brought to life for everyone to enjoy!  While I haven’t been fortunate to attend it — yet — I have seen some of the big display pieces, as they tend to leave them up for several weeks after the event is over.  In the case of the picture of Lightning McQueen above, that picture was taken on June 20, 2011 — well over a month after the festival ended on May 15th that year.  Since the grounds around Epcot always look so much better than my words, I thought I would share with you some of my favorite pictures from Epcot that include the use of landscaping to enhance the view for the Guests.  Enjoy!

While my post doesn’t do justice to the incredible special event that the Flower and Garden Festival is, I hope that it has brought you out of the post-Christmas, middle of winter blahs that January often has.  Just think, only a couple of months and we’ll be staring at Spring and dreaming of a trip to the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival!  Now, please click on the image below and go check out the rest of the entries for this week’s Riding the Rails segment — courtesy of your Magical Blogorail!  Have a Disney Day, everyone, and remember, here at My Dreams of Disney, we’re working to help turn My Dreams of Disney into Your Dreams of Disney!

Wordless Wednesday – January Calendar Shot

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

Hello everyone, and welcome to the Wordless Wednesday post for this week! Our theme this week is our January Calendar Shot, and as always, I would like to thank Deb from Focused on the Magic for hosting this weekly series.  Today I’ve got quite a few photos to share with you, and since tomorrow is New Year’s Day, I figured what better way to kick off our January calendar photo than with some great fireworks!  The top picture is but one of many, and this was taken in July, 2013, during Illuminations when we were part of a Dessert Party.  I have more photos to share from this same event, I hope you like them!

Lastly, here is a shot that takes us back to June, 2010.  This shot was taken the year that Disney introduced the Summer Nightastic series, and has been a favorite shot of mine for a long time.  I hope you enjoy!

Disney Memories Guest Post

dbtp-cover851x315

Today I’ve got a special assignment — my friend Hayden asked if I could help her with a technical difficulty she is having, and to get an accurate idea of what is going on, I’ve got a guest post up on her site!  Come visit me and read about one of my all time favorite Disney Memories, when we had a chance encounter with Princess Jasmine and the Genie in the Moroccan Pavilion at Epcot’s World Showcase!

So, please check out My Favorite Disney Memory — over at Disney with Babies, Toddlers, and Preschoolers!  While I have told this story before on this site, it lends itself for a retelling because it focuses on one of the things that really makes Disney, Disney — the uncanny ability they have to create a Disney Memory out of nothing!

Hayden, the offer is always open if you want to write a guest post here — just let me know, and thanks for having me!

Wordless Wednesday – November Calendar Shot

For  Wordless Wednesday this week, I had a pretty hard time coming up with what I wanted to share as my “November Calendar Shot”.  You see, I’ve never been to Walt Disney World — or any Disney park, for that matter — in November, so I was pretty clueless as to how to proceed.  In the end, though, I decided that beauty is good all year long, so I decided to just share with you some of my favorite shots from Epcot World Showcase and it’s pavilions.  Enjoy!

If my memory serves me right, this is meant to be a tribute of Victoria Gardens. Correct me if I'm wrong, please.
