He is Risen! Jesus is Risen, indeed!

jesus_resurrection He is Risen!  Jesus is Risen, indeed!  With those simple, simple words, the world was irrevocably changed for the better.  Gone were the days of darkness; the Light has arrived! Jesus the Son, Perfection, God in man form, has saved all that believe in Him from their sins.

Today is Easter, my dear friends, and those of us that are in Christ and have Him in our hearts are celebrating the joy and peace that His Resurrection has provided us!

We have had a lot of prayers requested this week, and I’ll get to them further on in this post.  However, with this being Easter Sunday, today we are going to offer up our praises first.  If you wish to go back through the weeks prior to this one to see the prayer requests, here is the list of our posts — just click on any of them that you wish to look back at.

Praises!

  • All of the requests that people have been leaving with us — and we are honored that you all feel comfortable leaving those requests so that others can pray for you — would have absolutely no meaning if Jesus wasn’t our Lord and Savior!  The biggest Praise we can have any week, but especially today, is that Jesus came to earth, shared His ministry, taught us all that Love matters, and then, in the ultimate sacrifice, the ultimate expression of love — at that moment, Jesus died for us!  The story would just be a tragedy if it happened then, but the beauty of that story is that it didn’t end there.  Today, thousands of years ago, the stone of the tomb was rolled away, and Jesus was gone!  But He wasn’t taken — no, it wasn’t anything as ordinary as that!  Jesus was Risen!  And with that wonderful Resurrection, Jesus overcame death, and paid the ultimate penalty of our sin for us — for those of us that believe in Him!
  • Holy Week has been a tumultuous week for my family.  We have had school issues that we have been dealing with, Sophie got sick on Monday, and then had an issue later on in the week. On Thursday we went to a beautiful church service, our annual Maundy Thursday service, and then on Friday, Sophie woke up with an ear infection.  We were able to get to the doctor, and they were able to give us the medicine we needed, which was good, because Sophie was an Acolyte for our Good Friday service of Tenebrae, and she was able to perform her service to God without any problems.  All of this, in many ways, reminds me of the Holy Week that Jesus endured the week of his Crucifixion.  So triumphant one day, and so horrific the next.  So Praise be to God, for helping my family get through our week, and helping Sophie to show her love for You in your Service.
  • A Special Praise to you, Lord, for your servant Tommy.  Tommy was admitted back to the hospital this week, and the doctors don’t give much hope.  However, what we know, Lord, is that Tommy is your servant, he has spoken for You at his rebaptism ceremony, and while only You know how long Tommy has, we also know that Tommy is being kept comfortable, and isn’t in much pain.  That is the praise.
  • Lastly, we give praise to You for all of the things that You have done for all of us, even those that we don’t even realize are being done for us.  I particularly give praise to all of my Brothers from the Men’s Study, those that shared their stories of love with all of us, those stories that told us all how living for You has changed their — no, our — lives.  Thank you for that wonderful night!

Prayer Requests

Please keep these prayer requests in your thoughts this week as you say your prayers:

  • Alanna sent me a Facebook message and asked that I pray for her. She has right knee pain and needs healing for it. Please include her in your prayers so that she might have comfort and healing from her ailment. Thanks!
  • Christa sent me a prayer request via Twitter. She asks for the following things. Please pray for her in her time of need:  “Prayers for peace, prayers for a job opportunity, prayers to get life back to what it was before 12/4/12. Thx”
  • Rosemary asked for continued prayers from a prior Prayer Request:  “Keep them coming for me, please, Mike. I spent the weekend in the hospital after some minor surgery. I am positive that with God’s help, I will be fine, but more prayers are always appreciated. Thank you.”
  • Emily left a comment on our Facebook page, she said: “Love this post!!! Thank you….I will take ANY prayers.” Emily, I’ll pray that you know Jesus and that the Holy Spirit lives in your heart!
  • Lisa left a comment on our Facebook page also, here is what she said:  “I need to go to Disney really soon! Good thoughts are in order!”  Lisa, prayers that you get the break from daily struggles that you need and that you are able to remember what it is like to be a kid once again at your closest Disney park!
  • Tina also left a comment on our Facebook page. She needs prayers for her adult son. Here is what she said: “My adult son that was raised to do right but is making wrong choices!” Tina, we will pray for your son, that he learns that life is much harder when you don’t have Jesus to guide you, and that your son will return and let Jesus into his heart soon. In the meantime, we’ll also pray for your Peace from worry, comfort that all will be okay, and also we’ll pray that nothing harmful happens to your son while he is walking alone in the wilderness. Please keep us updated, thanks!
  • Cathy has the same type prayer request as Tina does. She left her comment on Facebook:  “Mine is the same as Tina. Both of my children have chosen to walk away from the Lord and how they were raised. Breaks my heart.”  Cathy, I’m sorry that you are going through this. Know that we will all include you and your children in our prayers, that they realize that they are missing out on the best things life can give by turning from the Lord, and that they will come back to Him soon. We’ll also pray for your Peace, Comfort, and that nothing happens to them while they are alone in the wilderness. Please keep us updated!
  • Julie has a prayer request related to adoption that she would like for us to pray about. Here is what she wrote:  “We’ve been trying to have a 2nd child for over 10 years after having one miracle that we were told would never be born. (He’s a fabulous 11 year old.) I’ve been talking with a young lady contemplating adoption. I pray that she finds guidance in whatever her decision turns out to be in the end. I also ask for prayers that we are blessed by adoption. We can’t afford the high cost or we would have went this route in the past, but we would be able to do an independent adoption. We’d love to find a family willing to share a child with us. We hope that God keep us in his graces.”After I replied to her, she also had this follow up:  “Thank you! We are very thankful for what we have been given and feel that it is too much to ask for another miracle and pray each day that when God is ready he will present another child to us. Since I have started talking to this expectant mother, my prayer has been for her and not for ourselves. She is really struggling with the decision and I pray that she will eventually see whatever is best for her and the baby whatever that may be. I’ve seen many of God’s sign that He has a plan for us and we are willing to wait for Him, but prayers never hurt.”

My prayer, Julie, is for God to look upon the birth mother with kindness, that He help her to realize the best course of action that she should make with regards to her baby, whether it be to put it up for adoption or to keep the baby. If it is God’s will that the baby be put up for adoption, it is my prayer that she follow through on that, as hard as it would be, and know that she is giving her baby the best start at life that it can possibly have. I also pray that she is healthy in her carrying of the baby, and that the baby is healthy as well.

Please keep us updated, Julie, on how things work out. Thanks!

  • Candace wrote us with this request:  “Prayers for new employment AGAIN!! Started as a dispatcher last April for the same police agency I was laid off from in 2010. Just didn’t hack the training and was let go. Now the job search continues again. °o° ❤”  We’ll be praying for you, Candace, that you are able to find a job soon! Please keep us updated, and in the meantime, keep your chin up!
  • Rhonda is battling asthma, and needs our prayers. Here is what she wrote on our Facebook page:

Fighting illness, had asthma for 16 years and was at th ER yesterday in a very bad attack- still not at 100%, seems to be the worst episodes I remember having….

We’ll be praying for you, Rhonda, that you get over this latest attack and that the doctors can get it under control!

  • Carla has some family members and friends that need some lifting up to the Lord right now! They need to see that God loves them, and that He will comfort them, give them that Peace that only God can provide, and that He will also shower them with strength to get through the days and weeks ahead. Here is what she wrote:

That is absolutely awesome! Thank you for sharing your love of our Heavenly Father! My son is struggling in his belief right now, I’d love for you to keep him in your prayers. There is also a young man I know who is having some personal battles (many of them) He is a man of God, and could really use some prayers as well. I’ll message you with their names.

In addition to that comment, she mentioned that her son is fighting his faith right now. Please pray that he will see that the key to salvation is belief through faith, and that we are going to have troubles in this world, but those that have Jesus in their corner can take on anything and know that they will be better off! She went on to add:

Her son’s friend is having many personal battles with employement, many losses in his family due to suicide, and his girlfriend is dying. They could both use some lifting up. Thank you again for offering. I keep all of my facebook friends in my prayers as well. God bless you today, and always.

Please lift her son’s friend up, that he be able to win all of these battles, that he be able to have the Peace and Strength to overcome the losses in his family, and that his girlfriend be able to overcome her illness. If that is not possible, pray that she knows Jesus and has Him in her heart, so that she may know that feeling of Peace that only God can provide, and that she might have the Strength to continue to battle. Also pray for her family and friends, that they would have the courage to face what lies ahead, and the strength to deal with the challenges, and also be able to comfort her as they are able. Thank you, everyone, for praying for these people, and all the other prayer requests!

  • Laurie left a comment on Facebook, she is in need of housing. Here is what she wrote:

I NEED A HOME!!! I iwant to go to parks so bad but have to watch every penny. I will be on the street on March 12 probably. Nobody has a free room and I cannot find rentals under $400 a month. I tried everything, got friends trying everything. Tired of living so frugal that I cannot buy a cheeseburger at Art of Animation.

Laurie, I’m praying for your housing situation, also make sure that you yourself keep your priorities in line — which I’m sure you are doing. Worry about your life situation first, then deal with the parks when you’ve got things worked out. They will always be there. I hope everything works out with your housing — you mentioned March 12th, did you mean April 12th? Please correct that if you can. May the peace of God be upon you in your time of trouble, and may He shower you with His comfort and help you find the strength to continue to battle these difficulties!

After this post, Laurie had a follow up message.  Here is what she had to write:
um oops, yeah, lol, was listening to Song of the South and forgot about the month. April 12 is right. My mother sold her house then died. I was to get half in 6 months or a year. I have been living in hotels at $800 to $1000 a month for a year and that was supposed to end on February 27th and now a month later and still no money. If I get that money I could live well for 2 years or get a home and live comfortable for 30 years. I just wish and pray that the realtor would give me my money then my problems would be solved. hugs and bless you.

Laurie left this update on the Facebook page, it’s a start at least!

OMG, the realtor said he is sending me $700 out of his pocket, that will get me 2 more weeks and will get me to the 26th of april. If I am very careful with finances I can slingshot into May and then last until May 17th. THANK YOU, hugs tight, not the answer I want or need but at least his heart is softened and he realizes that QUALITY OF LIFE is important not just me living from day to day without going places or anything. hugs tight, it is a blessing, hugs tight

We’ll keep the prayers coming, Laurie! Thanks for the update!

  • My good friend and co-worker Jon needs prayers for his brother Tom, who has some blood clots in his lungs. He spent some time in the hospital because of it, and he’s better now, but prayers for his healing and comfort are always appreciated. Also pray for the entire family so they do not stress too much over this, that God would give them the Peace they need.
  • Karen on Facebook asks for prayers for her family. I don’t have specifics, but God doesn’t need the specifics — He already knows what is wrong. Lift up the family, please, to see them through whatever the issues might be.Karen’s daughter is a one year survivor of cancer at this point! Praise be to God for that miracle blessing! What Karen would like continued prayers for would be her daughter’s continued good health, and strength for Karen in the days and weeks and months to come to make sure that she is able to do the things that she needs to do for her family. God Bless You all, Karen, we are lifting you up!
  • Bridget on Facebook needs prayers for her niece. Here is what she wrote:

My niece is having to have her Aortic valve replaced again after being post op 14 weeks from the first aortic valve replacement. Please pray that scar tissue will not develop again and she recovers as well this time as last. She is a mother of 2 young men.

We’ll be praying for her, Bridget! Prayers for her healing with no scar tissue, and also prayers for God’s Peace and strength to be yours while you are worrying over her.

  • The last prayer request this week is from one of my dearest friends on earth.  This Sister is going through some deeply emotional family turmoil, and she needs prayers in the biggest way.  Please pray for her family, for God’s Peace to descend upon them in great abundance, and that their prayers would be answered.  Lord, please give them the comfort and strength that only You can provide, and keep them all safe from harm.  Thank you, Lord!

Thank you all so much for sticking through this to the end, it is a big blessing to know that so many prayer requests are being lifted up to God by complete strangers!  It truly warms my heart to know that the Lord is hearing our prayers from all over the world!  I’m going to leave you with the three most important words you will here today: “He is Risen!”

mdod-prayers of the week

English: Jesus entering Jerusalem on a donkey

English: Jesus entering Jerusalem on a donkey (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Hello everyone, and welcome back to our special Prayers for the Week post.  Today is Palm Sunday, that special day in the Christian calendar when our Savior Jesus triumphantly arrives in Jerusalem, riding on the back of a donkey.

It is amazing how the people of Israel could wave palm branches, shouting Hosanna one day, and then days later, they would be shouting “Crucify Him!”

When I was younger, and not truly in Christ, I still read the Bible, and I could not believe how dumb the Jewish people could be!  The Israelites time and time and time again spurned God, turned their backs on Him, and worshipped whomever or whatever they wanted to.

As I’ve grown up in my Faith, though, and especially since I have been part of The Men’s Study Bible Study, I have learned that WE are, in essence, doing the same things that the Jewish people did so many years ago.  It was humbling when I realized this, because I learned a very important lesson — I turned my back on Him just as often as the Israelites did.

Once I learned that valuable lesson, I began to see that the Scriptures aren’t dated, aren’t written for a people from 2000 years ago, they are just as relevant today as they were then.  My friends, Brothers and Sisters, that is perhaps as valuable a lesson as you will ever learn.

At this time, I invite you to join with us, all across the world, as we pray for those that are hurting, and praise our Father in Heaven for those special things that He has given to us!  As always, you can read and pray over last week’s prayer requests here.

Prayer Requests:

  • We have a prayer request from J Darling, who writes:

Praise for good health and the ability to work out!
Prayers for My Sailor who is deploying soon, and for strength as I work through my dad’s cancer. He’s opted to go on Hospice. He’s been married to my mom for 41 years (all of my life and my brother’s). We’ll never be ready to let go and say good-bye, but if something should happen while My Sailor is away, it’ll be very challenging if impossible to let him know, and I’ll need him more than ever… So peace and strength to get through this challenging year.
And gratitude for the strength and new skills I’m learning every day.

  • From Facebook, my friend Jessica asks for prayers.

My friend Jessica needs prayers for her husband’s father, who is battling cancer. Please pray for healing for him, but also God’s Peace and Strength to come upon all of the family in the days and weeks ahead! Thanks!

  • From my friends Karen and Tim, who have this prayer request:

Small request Mike, my husband lost his job back in Sept 2012 due to bankruptcy and he has only had several short part-time jobs without insurance for the family. Prayer for health for our family, we have our kids on medicare but my hubby and I have zero insurance. We have work but the jobs dont offer ins. and we cant afford ins. thru independent carriers…..Thanks

  • My Aunt Ti also has a similar request, here is what she asked prayers for:

I’ve been in that same boat as Tim Pugh Mike, since Jan. of 2009 and I know exactly how they feel. Obamacare hasn’t helped one bit.

  • A last, desperate prayer request for my fellow Park View High School graduate Jeff:

Want to send prayers to Jeff Fowler. This was just posted. This is Natalie. Jeff has taken a turn for the worse. He is in ICU at NIH. Sadly it wont be much longer. Jeff has fought a valient fight. I will update with another post later with additional information.

Please pray for Jeff’s salvation at this late hour — pray that he knows Jesus, and that Jesus also knows him! Also, please pray God’s Peace and Strength upon the family and friends in the days and weeks to come, and also pray for Jeff’s comfort, that he be free from pain, and that he wake up in Jesus’ loving embrace when the time comes. Thank you, everyone!

  • Prayers from my Cousin Ann for a little boy, Joey Angel.  Here is what she said late last night:

Praying for Joey Angel tonight – he’s still in the ICU at Children’s Hospital and progress is slow-going.

Please pray for these and any other prayer requests that you know about!

Praises!

  • We have several praises this week!  First of all, I have a very special praise for my wife’s cousin Tommy.  He had a re-baptism ceremony this past Monday night, and while the tears were flowing, I believe the Lord was beaming at Tommy’s public declaration that he is one of Jesus’ Men! For as it is written in Matthew Chapter 10, verse 32:

Jesus said “Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven.”

  •  A good friend of mine has a praise — after 47 years, he has been reunited with his mother, and they have begun to communicate with one another.  This is a huge praise because she lives hundreds of miles from where he lives!
  • Yesterday was the family reunion of my wife Cindy’s family, and we attended that.  It was a beautiful day, with a lot of love, and even though the family is sad over the condition of Tommy, we made the most of our day and remembered the love we have for one another.
  • From yesterday’s family reunion, more praises!  God is so good, he provides the comfort we all need just when we need it.  It was so refreshing to see so many of Sophie’s cousins yesterday, from Jeremy and Jenna all the way down to Ben’s kids, especially little Katie, who knows how to wrap a Daddy (even if it isn’t her own) right around her finger!  My friends, whenever you are sad, do yourself a favor and take a few minutes to see life through the eyes of a child.  It will be an incredible, uplifting experience for you!
  • Friday and Saturday I was able to spend time with my friend Tabitha, one of the great TA’s with Pixie Vacations!  She was nice enough to include this rookie in an event that she was participating in, and even though we were already friends, we had never met, so it was great to be able to hang with her and learn from her!  Thanks Tabitha!

As always, my friends, if you have a prayer request that we haven’t covered here today, please please please add it to the comments!  I strongly believe that the Lord is looking over all of us in these prayer requests, and your requests are being seen across the Internet, so please add your requests in the comments!

Prayers for the Week, March 17, 2013

mdod-prayers of the week

This week has been a trying one for those of us in the faith, my friends.  We have been blessed beyond compare, but in addition to all of those blessings, some of God’s people are truly hurting.  When I am in a situation where someone or something hurts me, my first instinct now is to turn to my favorite passages in the Bible.  The first one is John 16:33, where Jesus tells us:

“I have told you these things, so that in me, you may have peace.  In this world you will have trouble.  But take heart!  I have overcome the world.

Another Bible verse that I truly love to read is from the book of Jeremiah, chapter 29, verse 11:

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

It astonishes me, the older I get, how right the Bible is.  When I was younger, I never thought that the Bible had all that much to offer to me.  But now, when I am troubled, I do turn to the Bible, and it literally falls right to where I need to be reading, and there is always something to help me.

My friends, as I said, there are a lot of prayer requests for this week.  As a result, this post will be quite lengthy.  Please make sure you read all of the requests, and pray for all of the ones you see here.  Also, please add your prayer requests in the comments below throughout the week, and we’ll add them onto next week’s post.  As always, here is last week’s list of prayer requests that you can click over and read.

Prayer Requests:

  • Please pray for Rosemary, who is going through some medical issues right now.  Pray that she will have healing, peace from the worries that perhaps are affecting her, and strength in the event that her healing takes time and isn’t accomplished immediately.
  • My wife’s cousin is battling some serious health issues.  Please pray boldly for a miracle, that he may show Glory to God with a miraculous recovery, but in addition, please pray for his comfort, God’s Peace to descend upon him and his family, and God’s Strength to help them all out in the days and weeks to come.  He is being re-baptized soon, but I believe he is already a Christian, so his place with Jesus is assured! Of course, what will happen is all according to God’s Will, and we know that His Will will be done.
  • I have a good friend that is battling fibromalygia.  This unseen disease affects many things within her body, and the pain and debilitation can be quite severe.  She asks that we pray for relief and joy, that she would be able to maintain joy in her life despite her malady.
  • Another friend we have is suffering with a condition that causes her to have severe pain, and forces her to walk with a walker, despite the fact that she is a young person.  Please pray for comfort and healing for her, and strength to continue to battle this degenerative condition.
  • Rebecca asks for our prayers as her Uncle passed away from intestinal cancer on March 12th.  Please lift up his soul to the Lord, but also pray for God’s Peace and Strength to settle upon Rebecca and her family, that they might be able to express their grief together, while knowing that their loved one is with Jesus at this time.  God, please give them the strength to endure the weeks to come as the reality of their loss is felt even more.
  • Becky asked for prayers related to a shooting in central New York state.  The man, at the time, had not been caught, and he had shot 6 people, killing 4 of them, with the other two in critical condition.  After a standoff of several hours, police went in, and with a K9 officer shot in the altercation, the shooter was shot and killed.  It was a sad ending to a tragic mystery — why a person would succumb so much to darkness that they would take innocent people’s lives.  In cases like this, the only happy thing is Satan, who was doing a victory dance.  So now, friends, I ask that you pray for the families that are grieving, as well as for the towns affected, that they would have God’s Peace upon them, and the fear that they were facing would fade away to the distant past.
  • My friend Rebecca asks for prayers for her Poppa, who suffered a heart attack last week.  She has reported that the prayers are working, and he is getting the treatment and help that he needs, but please keep them up for her so that he can fully recover!
  • Carrie asks for prayers for her husband, who is suffering from Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, and is undergoing treatment.  Please pray for him for healing, but also pray for their 7 year old son, that he can adapt to his Daddy being sick, and give his dad what he needs to get over this illness.  Also please pray for Carrie, that she can be strong and help her husband in the ways he needs help, and that she can be strong for the whole family.
  • My good friend has asked me to pray for our country and for those that defend our Constitution and our freedoms. This includes not just our military, of course, but any official of the United States that is in a position to have to defend our rights. My biggest prayer on this matter is that anyone in that position would put politics to the side and step outside of themselves and think about what is best for the country, not for their party or constituants.
  • I would like to lift up my friends in prayer.  I have so many close friends, and the unfortunate circumstance in their lives is that they have not asked Jesus into their life.  They know who they are, and my prayers — for many months now — would be that Jesus would speak to my heart the words that I should say to them that would open up their hearts just a little so that Jesus could work his Will on them.  Please give them the courage to let down those defenses just a little bit, that they would be able to rely on Him instead of trying to rely on just themselves.
  • Lastly, Michelle asks for prayers for her family.  She and her husband are having marital difficulties, and he has filed for divorce.  At stake beyond their marriage is the fact that they have children, and they are all trying to come to terms what it might mean not having their husband/father at home with them.  Michelle does not want a divorce, and has been praying for reconciliation so that their marriage can be saved, but things are very serious right now.  Their divorce hearing is in April.  Please pray for this family, that they can be brought back together, that the divorce does not go through, and that the husband can see what his leaving the family would mean to all of them.

Praises:

  • Noreen had a prayer request that turned into a praise!  She was worried about sounding petty, but she had lost her great-grandmother’s ring.  While she explained that it wasn’t very valuable, it had extreme sentimental value for her, and she was sick over losing it because she wishes to pass it down to her daughter.  She posted on our blog, though, and within 10 minutes she found the ring!  I explained to her that her request was not petty, that it is the memories of our loved ones, which sometimes translate into objects that they used to have, lead us to remember our loved ones all the more.  So, what started as a prayer request turned into a huge praise!
  • I also have a huge praise for Dustin!  His illness was a rare form of cancer, one that chemotherapy normally does not treat very well.  However, in his case, chemo did a great job, and he is in remission from his cancer!  The prayers should continue, though, to make sure he doesn’t have a relapse that would lead to further illness!
  • My final praise is for the Jubilate Worship Dance Conference, which was held March 15th and 16th in Apex, North Carolina.  My daughter was a participant, and they brought glory to Jesus and tears to us with their beautiful, Spirit-filled dancing.  We celebrated Holy Communion as well, and as I told Sophie before she went to bed, Jesus is very proud that she stood up for Him this weekend.  Special praises go out to Miss Jackie and Miss Brook, two Angelic Saints at Edenton Street UMC, who lead the dance teams and show them daily what it is like walking with the Lord.

My friends, while I know that the troubles in our lives are many, I hope you are all able to focus on at least one thing in your life that is a blessing to you, whether it be your children, or your health, or the fact you have a job and a roof over your head, or whatever you come upon.  It is very easy to be caught up in what is wrong with our lives — believe me, I know this, because I have been there — but I firmly believe that if I give my concerns to the Lord, He will take care of them, and allow me to focus on all the beauty that exists in my life.

As always, please add your prayer requests to our comments so that we might pray over them in the coming week!  God Bless You all!

Prayers for the Week, March 10, 2013

mdod-prayers of the week

Welcome back everyone!  This is the second week of our new series, Prayers of the Week, if you missed last week’s edition, I’ve included a link so you can read it and pray about those requests and praises.  Each week I will link back to last week’s post, and as I know more information, I’ll do my best to let you know how your prayers worked out.  We come into this knowing that all of our prayers are very important, but despite all of our prayers, we also know that our Lord’s Will will be done.  So now, let’s move on to this week’s prayer requests and praises!

Prayer Requests

  • Continue your prayers from last week, but please also add Casey to the list — she left a comment that she is receiving a port during the week, so please pray that the procedure was a success and that she will be doing better soon!
  • Please add to your prayers my friends who are traveling to Poland for their adoption of a little girl.  Please pray that the Lord keep them safe  and that their little girl is brought home safely.  Please also pray for their boys, who were not able to travel with their parents.
  • Please pray for the family of Stan, who passed away after a long illness.  They need God’s Peace upon them in their time of grief, as well as His Strength to see them through this.
  • The cousin of one of my Brother’s was recently diagnosed with breast cancer — please pray for her speedy recovery.
  • Please pray for our friend as she battles stage 2 breast cancer.
  • Pray for my friend’s Uncle John, who has a terminal stage of cancer and has been given just a few months to live.  At this stage in his life, pray that he knows Jesus, and that Jesus knows him as well, but don’t forsake the body — boldly pray for a miracle cure so he can recover as well!
  • Please pray for Sue, who is battling a form of cancer that keeps coming back.
  • Please pray for Dustin, that his health continues to improve and that this amazing little boy can put his health problems out of his mind for good!
  • Please pray for my friend’s Mother-in-Law, who is fighting breast cancer.  Please pray that she is healed of the disease, and that it doesn’t spread.
  • Please pray for my friend’s Papaw, who was recently diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing treatment.  I know what it is like to have a grandpa fighting cancer, so please pray for a successful treatment and many more years for him!
  • Cindy’s cousin Tommy is fighting stage 4 liver and pancreatic cancer.  He has started treatment, but even with that, they figure he has about a year to live.  Please pray that he has all his affairs in order for his family, that he knows Jesus, is saved, and that the family will have God’s Peace and Strength upon them as they all battle this difficult time in their lives.
  • For all of you that may be reading this that are in poor health, or unemployed (or underemployed, for that matter) — this prayer is for you!  May your health improve, your job status improve, and may our country return to what made it great!

Praise the Lord!

Of course, there are always things to lift up to the Lord in praise as well!  It’s important to give our worries to God, but it’s just as important to thank Him for the things He provides for us!  Here are our praises this week:

  • Like I mentioned, thanks be to God for my friends that are adopting a little girl from Poland.  The road to get there is a long, arduous path, but the rewards for this family are immeasurable!
  • Today is my niece Leslie’s birthday!  She, and all the rest of my family are a huge praise for me!  Not a day goes by where I am not blessed by my family, especially Cindy and Sophie!
  • Huge praises go out to Sophie’s teachers at school!  They, along with Mrs. Keech, the principal, and all the other staff do a great job at taking care of our kids and keeping them safe!
  • Praises for our jobs and health, of course!

Thank you to all of you for praying for these things and the things from last week!  Please comment and add your prayer requests below, and I’ll have them up on the list for next week!  If any of you have any update to your prayer requests, please let us know if you are comfortable doing so how things are progressing!  May the Lord bless you and keep you, and may He shine his countenance upon you, both now, and forevermore.  Amen.

Prayers of the Week

My Dreams of Disney, Disney Fan Blog, WordPress

Over the past 2+ years of writing on this blog, the posts have all generally been about Disney.  Of late, though, it has occurred to me that the reach of this little blog has spread greatly, to the point that it isn’t unusual for me to see traffic from such “remote” locations as Russia, India, and Bangladesh!  In fact, My Dreams of Disney has been accessed from 135 different countries/territories across the globe.

The point of all of this isn’t to bring praise to me, but to share with you a realization that I have had along my faith journey — witnessing for the Lord doesn’t just come in the form of face to face conversations — your witness can be as simple as writing a blog post.

To that end, every Sunday I am going to write a post called Prayers of the Week.  This special post will share with you some prayers requests that I, my family, or friends have, and if you are of a mind, please lift up these requests in your daily prayers.  However, this isn’t a one way street by any stretch!  The world that we live in today has many, many problems, and we all have concerns that we need addressed.  So, if you have any prayer requests of your own, please share them in the comments, and know that I will note them down and include your prayer requests in when I pray as well.

For privacy’s sake, I won’t always share all of the details for a prayer request, but I should share enough information that you’ll know what to pray for.

Thank you in advance for your prayers, and don’t be shy — share your prayer requests here!  By doing so, we will show the world how powerful prayer can be!

Prayer Requests:

  • Please pray for Kenny and his family.  Kenny’s wife Sherry recently passed away, leaving Kenny and his two young children without their mother.  She was a Believer, so we all know she is in Jesus’ loving embrace, but please pray for God’s Peace to descend upon the family, as well as for His Strength to see them through these trying days.
  • Please pray for my friend’s mother, who is having a difficult time with Chemo and Radiation treatments for breast cancer.  Her daughter travels back home soon, and it is a big worry how she will get on — or whether or not she will have to move up here with her.
  • Please pray for my cousin, who is undergoing treatment for breast cancer, as well as for my aunt, who is also undergoing treatment.  Please pray for a healthy result to their treatments.
  • Please pray for my other aunt, who has been undergoing treatment for breast cancer for a long time now.
  • Please pray for my wife’s cousin, who had a stroke recently, and for her parents, who are having to look after her in their later years.
  • Please pray for my family, that we see the stresses of work and school even out some so that we can remember each day the love that we have for each other.
  • Please pray for my friends, for jobs applied for and health looked after.
  • Please pray for my friend’s brother-in-law, who has fought cancer for years, and now has it in his lymph nodes.  He is undergoing some bone scans, and hopes to be eligible for a special clinical trial — if he gets in he has his medicine provided, but if he doesn’t the medicine runs $7-9,000 per month!
  • I have also learned of a specific prayer request for some dear friends; this request is private, but please pray that the parties in this ordeal would receive God’s Wisdom on them, and realize that the course of action they are about to undertake isn’t the best for them and their families.  Also, for everyone that is close to them and is struggling because of the decision this couple is making, please pray for God’s Peace to descend upon them, so that their worries may be lifted away, and they can get back to being the witnesses to the Lord that He needs them to be.

Praises:

God wants to hear our sorrows, our tribulations, the things that are keeping us up at night.  As the 1 Peter 5:7 says:

Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.

However, it is also great and wonderful to give Thanks to God for those things that we have received!  In that thought, here are some praises we can give to God in Thanks!

  • I, and hundreds of other people, were blessed tonight to be part of the Red Rose Banquet at Edenton Street United Methodist Church.  We were lifted up in song by the children’s choirs, and we had both a silent and live auction to raise funds to help the Ruth Sheets Adult Day Care Center.  It was a wonderful night, and I for one was blessed this night.
  • Wonderful praise is to be lifted up each and every night for the leadership and organization that has led to a wonderful Bible Study called The Men’s Study.  This is my third year studying His Word in this group, and I am closer to God now then at any time in my life — and each day I draw even closer.
  • I am deeply blessed by all of my family and friends.  Each one of them is a blessing, and for each of them I give thanks to God that I have been able to have them in my life — or, in some cases, I thank God that He allowed me to be in their lives!
  • I would like to give thanks to God for my wonderful friends Ervin and Lois.  They are the wonderful parents of my dear friend Monica, and God has blessed me to be able to help them out with a computer problem here and there.  The beauty of it, though, is that, while I’m able to help them, and I gladly do so, I’m not really doing anything that couldn’t be done by someone else.  What I love is, when I leave their house, I have been blessed, and I have learned some new nugget of wisdom that will help me, both in my faith journey, and in my worldly travels as Cindy and I work together to raise our daughter into the daughter that God would have her be.

Now, please feel free to add your prayer concerns in the comments below, and don’t forget, praises are a big thing too, so share those also!  Thanks for stopping by, and have a great week!
