My Pixie Vacations Journey!

Pixie Vacations Card

As you might have heard on this past Friday’s Friendship Friday post, I am a new travel agent with Pixie Vacations!  This is a journey that started way back on September 8, 2010, the day that I started My Dreams of Disney, and continues to this day as I learn more about what it takes to be a Pixie Travel Agent!

With this post, I wanted to take a moment and share with you all of the incredible Disney experiences that are waiting for you to discover when you call on me to help plan your next Disney vacation!

Disney, of course, is more then just theme parks, more then just dining, more then just cruises.  With Disney, what you are creating is Memories, and what you are discovering is Magic — that incredible Disney Magic known throughout the world (or World, as the case may be!)

As a Pixie Vacations Travel Agent, my services are available to you free of charge — give me a call at 919-606-6725, or send me an email to Mike@PixieVacations.com, and I’ll be happy to work with you to help you come up with the perfect vacation for you and your family!

However, Pixie Vacations is a full service travel agency, so if you want me to research cruises other then Disney, or other vacation destinations, I can do that also!

So what are your plans for your next vacation?  Disney has so many more options then what you might know about.  I can help you out with any of these incredible vacation ideas:

Where will your dreams take you today?  Check in with me and I’ll help you plan the magical vacation that you and your family deserve!  Thanks for stopping by!

Friendship Friday: My Pixie Friends!

Hello everyone, and welcome to another edition of Friendship Friday!  While I normally use this post as an opportunity to highlight a special friendship that I have with a friend or family member, today I am using my forum to shout out a group of friends and professionals in the Disney travel industry — my friends at Pixie Vacations!

The picture that you see above was taken for the 40th Anniversary of Walt Disney World, on October 1, 2011, which Cindy, Sophie, my niece Stephanie, and I had the honor to be able to attend.  On that day, we were able to meet up with some incredible people — some that I already knew through the blog, some that I knew through Chip and Company, and some that I only knew through the incredible MouseChat.net podcast.

Looking at the left you see my wife Cindy and daughter Sophie, Lisa, one of the owners of Pixie Vacations, with one of her daughters; my Sister-In-Christ Brenda, me, my buddy Bob, one of the characters on the MouseChat.net Podcast and a Pixie Vacations Travel Agent, my friend Chris, another of the Pixie Vacations Travel Agents, and also on the MouseChat.net Podcast, my friend Natalie, another of the Pixie Vacations Travel Agents, my niece Stephanie, and Steve, who is married to Lisa and is the other owner of Pixie Vacations.

I chose today to highlight this special group of people because I have a big announcement to make — at least, it is big to me, and Cindy and Sophie like it too — I have recently signed on to be a travel agent with Pixie Vacations!  Let me tell you, since I started this, I have had an incredible amount of fun — and by the way, I started it on my birthday, February 6th, 2013 — but on top of that, I have met online even more incredible people then those that I’ve featured here today!  When I was talking about this with Lisa, one of the biggest things I learned from her was that her agents are family to her, ‘Ohana, if you will, and that no matter what happened in the course of daily business, she expected her family to remember that, and to treat each other with the respect that we all deserve.

At Pixie Vacations, we strive to help you have the most magical vacation you can — whether that be at Walt Disney World, Disneyland, or any of the other magical Disney destinations — or on a more traditional vacation path, also.  We are here to help you; all of us at Pixie were people that planned our vacations for our families, and we loved it so much that it made sense to branch out and help other people plan their vacations also.

So, what can I do for you today?  If you would like my advice, help, and support in planning a Disney vacation, please feel free to reach out to me; you can get started by calling the number on the image below, or shooting me an email to Mike@PixieVacations.com.  Thanks for stopping by, and reading about my friends at Pixie Vacations!

Friendship Friday, as you all probably know by now, is the brainchild of my dear Disney friend Heidi from Heidi’s Head!  Please click on the image below to learn who she has featured for today on her Friendship Friday post, and thanks for stopping by!

Coronado Springs — Our First Disney Resort

Coronado Springs Resort

In August of 2007, Cindy and I decided to take Walt Disney up on it’s offer, and stay at the parks for a longer period of time than just a day or two.  We had been the previous year with Meemaw, and the year before with Leigh Ann and Riley (and family), and seeing how much fun it was with them just fueled our need for more Disney Magic!

So Cindy and I decided to take the plunge and book a resort to stay at.  We had always assumed (somewhat incorrectly, I might add) that staying on property was 1) for those with more money than sense, and 2) really, really expensive, so when we looked into the idea, I know that I was thinking we weren’t going to be able to swing it.

Boy, was I ever wrong!  Have you ever stayed at Disney World on property before?  If you haven’t, I really suggest that you take a look at it.  Not only are there all sorts of different themed hotels for you to choose from, there are also several different levels that you can stay at depending on your budget! If you need help with your trip planning, send me an email to mike@pixievacations.com or submit a quote request.

For those with large parties, or smaller budgets, there are the Walt Disney World Value Resorts to choose from.  They include the following resorts:

  1. Disney’s All Star Movies Resort
  2. Disney’s All Star Music Resort
  3. Disney’s All Star Sports Resort
  4. Disney’s Pop Century Resort
  5. Disney’s Art of Animation Resort.

These resorts are all classified as value resorts, which means that they are the least expensive of the Disney resorts.  In many cases, though, they can be worth it if you have large parties because some of these resorts offer rooms that can sleep more than 5 people.

Cindy and I felt that, after researching all the properties, and also speaking with some of our friends, that the value resorts were more like “hotels” and less like “resorts”, so we decided not to do any of the value resorts.  After that, we looked at the Moderate Resorts.  They include:

  1. The Cabins at Fort Wilderness Resort
  2. Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort
  3. Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort
  4. Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter
  5. Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside

We looked at a lot of them, but in this instance choose Coronado Springs Resort.  We liked the Aztec influence in the decor, we thought that the big pool looked really neat from Google Earth and the website, and the color scheme chosen for the buildings was really quite nice.  We enjoyed it a great deal!  For this first year, we booked our trip directly from the Disney World website.  The special that year was the free dining plan.  Book a stay at a Disney resort, stay a certain number of days, and you will get the Disney Dining Plan for free.  That means that one snack, one quick service meal, and one table service meal per person per day is already paid for!  Doing the dining plan for us meant that we were able to go to a lot of restaurants that we wouldn’t normally go to, which meant that we could choose character places so Sophie could get a ton of autographs, and we wouldn’t have to pay for a lot of food while we were at the parks!

Having the dining plan is one of the biggest benefits for us staying at a Disney resort!  I have a ton of pictures from that first extended trip to Walt Disney World, but rather than upload them all, take a look at the embedded slideshow!  Enjoy, and feel free to comment!
