The Next My Dreams of Disney Contest!

One of the gifts from my next contest!

Hello everyone!

I wanted to report in to everyone right now from my room at Bay Lake Towers!  We are having a great vacation, and I wanted to take a moment and tell you about the next contest on My Dreams of Disney!  For this contest, I’m looking for two sets of followers to increase — my Twitter followers, and my Facebook followers!  If you are not a fan yet of my Facebook page, head on over there now and “Like” the page!  Likewise, if you do not yet follow me on Twitter, head on over there and Follow me!  It’s quick, it’s easy, and each follow and like is an entry in the contest!  For a bonus entry, follow me by email!  It’s an easy way to get all of the posts from My Dreams of Disney, plus get entered into the contest.  Oh, by the way, what is the prize for this contest?  How about two of the special edition 40th Anniversary of the Magic Kingdom Disney Pins?

Thanks everyone, and good luck!  If you already like our Facebook page or follow us on Twitter, than you are already entered!  Take the final step and follow us by email!

Magical Blogorail: Our First Attraction

Welcome to those of you joining me from Makin’ Memories and those of you who have just hopped aboard. I am the 3rd stop on our Magical Blogorail.
This month’s journey takes us to our favorite attractions — that one attraction that we absolutely must ride first, and why.  This topic has required a lot of thought, and has included input from Cindy and Sophie.
My choice for which attraction to hit up first depends on a lot of variables.  For starters, which park are we going to see first?  Are we going there first thing in the morning, or later in the afternoon after driving down?  Do we have a dinner reservation to hit first?  So rather than just tell you a ride that we go to and ride, I thought I would expand a little on my thoughts with regards to our trip to Disney for this year, which is starting today!
As you may have seen, the other day I wrote a piece called “Let the Memories Begin“, in which I went through and tried to put myself in the shoes of all of the people that are going to Disney World on this trip.  In doing so, I was thinking about what they would be most interested in experiencing on their vacation.  And that theme is what I’m going to follow in this instance when I try to explain to you my thought process behind choosing that one ride that I must ride at Disney World.
For Cindy, Sophie, and myself, this is not our first trip to Disney World.  But to Sherry, and Axl, and especially Anna Jane, this is the first time they have been to Disney World, and that makes this visit much more special for them, and for us!

Anna Jane is not, at least not yet, a daredevil kind of girl like Sophie is.  But she does like to have fun, and as you all know, there is a lot of fun to be had at Walt Disney World.  Since we are going to be arriving at Bay Lake Towers probably after 7PM or so, our first stop to the parks will be to the Magic Kingdom that night because they have extra magic hours!!!  Purely by coincidence (or is it Disney Magic at work?), Magic Kingdom will be open until 2AM that night!  Since we are a hop, skip, and a jump away from MK anyway, that is where we will give Anna Jane and all of us our first Disney World experience this year!

But back to the question at hand…what attraction or ride will be our first ride?  Well, like I said, with Anna Jane not being a daredevil like Sophie, it will probably not be Space Mountain, or Splash Mountain, or Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.  And, seeing as how we won’t get into the parks until later in the evening, the line for Peter Pan’s Flight will likely be much longer than we want to wait for our first ride of the day.  But there are still some rides that I like very much that I think Anna Jane and the others will want to ride as well!  There is the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, with it’s new interactive queue; and there is “it’s a small world”, with it’s wonderful, timeless quality that I just love; of course, there is the closest thing that exists now to the old Skyway, the TTA over in Tomorrowland.  And don’t forget some of our classic attractions, The Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean!

I guess, when it comes right down to it, I really don’t have any clue what ride will be our first ride at Walt Disney World.  If you remember my post “Weekend Remembrances“, some of the best things I like about Disney World don’t even have anything to do with which ride I’m taking.

In a nutshell, I guess the one thing that I must do before anything else when I get to Walt Disney World is to slow down, take a big, deep breath, and stop, look, listen, and smell all of the wonderful things that makes Walt Disney World that truly magical place to visit, and one that we absolutely love to go to over and over again.  For me, the best feeling I get in the world is the reaction I get like this one we got a couple of years ago, when Sophie found out where we were headed to.  It’s moments like this that makes it all worthwhile for me.

Thank you for joining me today.  I hope that, while I didn’t exactly answer the topic exactly the way it was intended, you still understand where I’m coming from.  Your next stop on the Magical Blogorail Loop is A World View.

Magical Blogorail: World Showcase Pavilion

Welcome to those of you joining me from Makin’ Memories and those of you who have just hopped aboard. I am the 2nd stop on our Magical Blogorail

In this month’s edition, we are looking at the World Showcase pavilion that we can spend the most time in.  Hop aboard, join the ride, and enjoy all of the sites, sounds, and smells that you will enjoy at my pavilion of choice!

Talk about a challenging topic for this month!  This topic took quite a few of the old brain cells to come up with the one pavilion that I can spend the most time in simply because there are so many that I enjoy!  For regular readers of my blog, you may remember that I have a whole page setup for the Countries of the World Showcase, so each and every country means something special to me in it’s own way.  But for me, I think I’ve got to give the nod on my favorite pavilion to the Mexico Pavilion.

There is just so much to enjoy about Mexico!  I love the Aztec pyramid that sets the mood for this unique pavilion.  Did you know that the pyramid is based off of a real Aztec Temple of Quetzalcoatl at Teotihuacan, Mexico?  Details like that are what set’s Disney apart from anywhere else in my opinion, and they can be found throughout Walt Disney World.

Once you step inside, the theming of the Mexico Pavilion jumps right out and draws you in for further inspection.  Inside it feels like an open air market, perhaps after a gentle rain has fallen.  It is nearing dinner time, you feel, and the smells from the San Angel Inn bombard you with authentic Mexican flavors, and if you love Mexican cuisine like I do, you feel your mouth start watering just thinking about it!  As you walk around, come down into the market itself, and look at the unique market stalls, where you can purchase your own special souvenir to remember your visit.  In addition to the wonderful sites and sounds and smells in the Mexico Pavilion, you can also find the Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros boat ride!  This gentle boat ride is one of our family favorite rides — I think of it as Mexico’s equivalent of “it’s a small world“!   The ride is a trip through Mexico as you look for — who else — Donald Duck, who has gone missing!  Jose and Panchito are searching near and far for Donald because they need to give their performance, and everyone knows that the Three Caballeros are not the same without Donald as part of the group!  In the end, of course, they are all reunited, just in time for the grand send off.  We love this ride, and will gladly ride it several times per vacation!

I love the sites, smells, sounds, and experiences that the Mexico Pavilion has to offer visitors at the World Showcase.  I hope that in reading this you have gained a new appreciation for this pavilion, and that you spend more time visiting it the next time that you are at Walt Disney World!  Thanks for reading!

MBRed Loop: Favorite Dining Experience

Welcome to the first stop aboard Magical Blogorail Red.  Enjoy the ride as we share with you our favorite Disney dining experiences!

In today’s loop, we are going to share with you our favorite Disney dining experiences!  This is a topic that is near and dear to my heart (or stomach, as the case may be), so hop aboard and enjoy the ride!

For me, there isn’t any one experience that I can claim is my beat-all, end-all experience.  We have had so many awesome dining experiences at Walt Disney World that I think it is nearly impossible to come up with just one experience to talk about.  As a result, I’m going to go off track just a little to talk about some of the memorable experiences we have had that make Disney truly a memorable place to eat at.

One of my really nice memories was at the Main Street Bakery.  We stopped in there one morning to get some breakfast, and one of the Cast Members stopped by our table.  She started up a conversation with Sophie, and asked her who her favorite Princess was.  Of course, Sophie said “Cinderella!”  At that point, the Cast Member presented to Sophie a huge chocolate chip cookie, which she explained had been sent to Sophie from Cinderella, who knew that Sophie was at the Main Street Bakery at that very moment.  It was so cool!  This was during the Year of a Million Dreams.

Another great dining memory that I have was when we had breakfast at ‘Ohana.  There we were, enjoying our wonderful breakfast, when all of a sudden Stitch appeared over Sophie!  The food at ‘Ohana is awesome, the service was killer, the character interactions are incredible, and the look on Sophie’s face — well, that was priceless!  Sophie loved seeing Lilo and Stitch at ‘Ohana, it was the first time we had ever seen them in the parks!

Another incredible dining experience happens every time we eat at The Crystal Palace.  Sophie loves interacting with Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, and Eeyore, and she really loves taking part in the parade around the restaurant!  I love how Tigger is always taking advantage of a photo taking session to stick his snout as far into the picture as he can!

Still other favorite Dining locations where we have had great experiences include Askerhus Royal Banquet Hall in Norway, the Garden Grill Restaurant over at the Land (both places in Epcot), and the fun getaway over at the Cape May Cafe over at the Beach Club resort!  I guess what I am trying to say is this: When it comes to memorable Dining experiences, we have really enjoyed all of them, and look forward to some more memorable experiences in the days ahead!
