In the past, Disney always released their price increases in August, but today, that is not the case. I just found out a matter of minutes ago that Disney has announced price increases effect this Sunday, June 12th, 2011. If you were planning on purchasing tickets over the summer for a trip to Disney next year, then you need to rethink your strategy.
This is a significant development for a couple of reasons:
- If you buy a Disney ticket today, it costs a certain amount. If you hang onto your ticket, and not use it until next year, or even longer, the ticket is still valid.
- Disney normally announces their price increases for a period in August, so I’m not sure of the ramifications of this news.
For comparison, when we bought our tickets, a 7-day ticket for an adult is $247, with $54 for Park Hopper, for a total of $301. The new pricing will put a 7-day adult ticket at $267, with $55 for Park Hopper, for a total of $322.
