Once again this week, my friend Amanda from Disney’s Cheapskate Princess and I are squaring off on a topic. This week we are looking at the three best rides at the Magic Kingdom! Without a doubt, my favorite three rides are the following:
- Pirates of the Caribbean
- Space Mountain
- Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
By far my favorite ride at the Magic Kingdom is Pirates of the Caribbean. It is one of those rides that quite often doesn’t have a really long wait time, it has an amazing queue, and it has one of the best ride themes of any of the Disney attractions. I like this ride enough that I have written about it many times since I started the blog. It was the subject of a Magical Blogorail Red post, a Magical Blogorail Black post, one of our 30 things to do at Walt Disney World, and one of my top 10 attractions at Walt Disney World (although, for some reason, I had it listed at #8, which just goes to show that my opinions about what my favorites are change quite often!) But you get the picture, I hope; Pirates of the Caribbean is one of the best attractions at the Magic Kingdom. Other then the Haunted Mansion, what other attraction at Disney had movies made because of it? (I’m sure there are plenty, please help me out and tell me them in the comments. Thanks!)
Space Mountain is a ride that I didn’t use to like all that much, but I gave it another try this past summer, and I was hooked once again! I rode Space Mountain twice, once late during Extra Magic Hours, with Cindy, Kerry, Shane, Stephanie, and Kyle, and I thought it was absolutely insane how ramped up it felt like they had it. It was so cool! Kerry was screaming her head off, by the way, but that’s a story for another day!
Then, on the last day before checkout, I was able to ride Space Mountain again, with Kerry again, and Monica also. This was the first time that Monica had ever ridden Space Mountain, and it was of course Kerry’s second time, and for this trip, they actually took us on an even faster journey! When we were going around and around and around the curves, it felt like we were going to go flying off the track! When we saw our picture from the camera that the ride takes, I had to take a picture of it with my iPhone to save.

When we got off and looked back at Space Mountain, I could almost imagine it looked something like this (well, maybe not!)
Prior to recapturing the Space Mountain Magic, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad was my favorite coaster at the Magic Kingdom. It is still an incredibly cool coaster, and one that I enjoy riding several times during our trips, but Space Mountain became my favorite coaster at the Magic Kingdom. Still, I really enjoy riding BTMRR, especially at night, and can’t wait until the next time I get to ride it again! To finish us off, I thought I would share with you some of my favorite photos from Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Enjoy!
Remember, though, that this post isn’t just about my three favorite attractions at the Magic Kingdom! Now it’s time to take a look at Amanda’s three favorite attractions over at her site, Disney’s Cheapskate Princess! Take a look, and tell her which three are your favorite — hers or mine! Thanks for stopping by, have a great day!
