Hello everyone! We are looking at exactly 13 weeks until our trip to Walt Disney World! That makes today day 91 in our #DisneyWorldCountdown! For today, we are going to take a look at a show that started in 1971 at the Magic Kingdom, was changed, and is now back to nearly what it was way back then. I’m talking, of course, about the Enchanted Tiki Room!
The Enchanted Tiki Room is one of those shows that I’ll see every now and again, but it’s not something that I go out of my way to see. It originally opened up as Tropical Serenade, but in the mid-90s was closed and reimaginered as the Enchanted Tiki Room – Under New Management. I thought it was a great little 5 minute show, and enjoyed it very much, but there was a fire in the attic of the facility, and they had to re-do the show as a result. When it came back, it was very much like the original show — and in my opinion, it’s a little too long for my liking. I liked the short time frame of the Under New Management show, it was a quick break off your feet, and not disruptive towards making some of your attractions you wanted to ride. Now, though, it feels too long, and gets kind of stagnant at times. I don’t know, it just doesn’t seem as good.
However, what is still good about the show is that the show is comprised of over 225 choreographed characters, everything from birds to Tiki statues and other performers. Also, the Enchanted Tiki Room is the very first audio-animatronic show every created at Disney. And funny, the show is only 10 minutes long, so it’s only 4 or 5 minutes longer than the Under New Management version, so maybe I’m being weird for no reason!
