Today in our Magic Kingdom Attraction Guide series, we are taking a look at one of my favorite attractions in Fantasyland: “it’s a small world”. This attraction is a favorite of mine for several reasons, but first, here are the details:
Attraction Name: “it’s a small world” Attraction Type: Slow Rides Height Requirements: Any Height Location: Fantasyland Hours of Operation: All Day. FastPass+: Available
As I was saying, there are several reasons why I like this attraction. For starters, I love the song! I know that many people can only take the song for just so long, but for me, the song is perfect. It is catchy, it is something that can stick with you for quite a while, it was written by the Sherman Brothers, and the whole purpose of the attraction is to show us just how much we have in common with one another, despite our geographic, ethnic, and language differences. In addition, every time I think of “it’s a small world” I remember the times I would visit with my Grandparents and we would have a snack in Pinocchio Village Haus and watch the boats take off below.
Do you have any memories or a special affinity for “it’s a small world”? Please let me know in the comments, and thanks for stopping by!
Next up in our Magic Kingdom Attraction Guide series is the Fantasyland attraction Enchanted Tales with Belle. Here are the details of this attraction:
Attraction Name: Enchanted Tales with Belle Attraction Type: Interactive Story Height Requirements: Any Height Location: Fantasyland Hours of Operation: All Day. FastPass+: Available
With Enchanted Tales with Belle, you and your children can be transported to the Beast’s library from Beauty and the Beast, and listen to a special story told to you by Belle herself. Better yet, your child may even be invited to help out with the story! While my daughter is now to old to be interested in this, I know many Princesses that are mesmerized by Belle, and if your Princess is one of them, they will likely love this attraction. To make it even easier to experience this, FastPass+ service is available. Have you and your children experienced Enchanted Tales with Belle? What did you think of it? Please let us know in the comments, and thanks for stopping by!
Welcome to the next stop on Magical Blogorail Orange. Today we are reviewing the value resorts at Walt Disney World.
It is common to think of the value resorts only in terms of money. How much can I save by staying at one? But we might also think of them in terms of fun for families. How kid-friendly are they? Or we might choose one based on location. How close is it to my favorite theme park? All of these reasons for staying at a value resort are valid!
But you just know they aren’t the reasons I’m going to promote! No, I love the value resorts because I honestly feel they have a higher level of theming than both the moderate and deluxe resorts. Visit the Coronado Springs or Polynesian resorts and you’ll come away with a few dozen photographs. Visit a value resort, like the Art of Animation (pictured above) and you can potentially come away with literally hundreds of amazing shots!
Pop Century Resort
Each value resort has a theme worthy of a photo essay! So let’s break them down:
All-Star Music – Music styles include: Calypso; Rock; Country; Broadway; and Jazz
All-Star Sports – Duh! But seriously, the sports represented are: Surfing; Baseball; Basketball; Tennis; and American Football
All-Star Movies – Expect to see giant representations of: 101 Dalmatians; Toy Story; Fantasia; The Mighty Ducks; and Herbie, The Love Bug
Pop Century Resort – Featuring pop cultural icons such as the: Yo-Yo, Mickey Phone (pictured above), Big Wheels, and too many more to list here!
Art of Animation – Four mega-themes: Cars; Little Mermaid; Finding Nemo; and Lion King
Of these five resorts, I’d say the best for theming are the Pop Century and Art of Animation. This is not to say the other resorts don’t yield magnificent photo opportunities, especially if music, sports, or movies are your thing. But Disney seems to have added so much more to the last two value resorts.
All-Star Music Resort
Karen and I stay almost exclusively at value resorts, even though we don’t have children, and could save up to stay at more expensive lodgings. But just walking through the themed walkways of each section of a value resort almost makes our vacations!
So when you’re looking to book your next on-site resort, don’t forget to consider the most themed resorts of all: Disney’s All-Star and Value Resorts!
Dumbo the Flying Elephant is next up in our Magic Kingdom Attraction Guides series. This opening day attraction has gone through some transformations lately. The most important aspect is that it moved from near Prince Charming Regal Carrousel over towards the Storybook Circus part of Fantasyland, and in addition, a second Dumbo attraction was added, creating what is commonly known as the “Dueling Dumbos”. Here are the specifics of this attraction:
Attraction Name: Dumbo the Flying Elephant Attraction Type: Slow Ride/Spinning Height Requirements: Any Height Location: Fantasyland Hours of Operation: All Day. FastPass+: Available
In addition to the actual ride, one of the great improvements they made was to add the big top area of the attraction. This is a great place to take a load off, let the kids work off some energy, sit in nice air conditioning, and wait leisurely for your time to ride. This is one of those cases where you need to decide which is better — to make a FastPass+ selection and bypass the big top, or to get a stand by pager (which notifies you when it is your time to ride) and go into the big top to relax. Which do you think is the better way to go? Let me know in the comments. In the meantime, here is a picture from my friend Denny for you to enjoy!
24This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. ~ Psalm 118:24 (ESV)
Hello everyone and welcome to this week’s prayers for the week post. There’s a lot to rejoice today. Today is April 19th and not only is it my Grandmother and Grandfather’s wedding anniversary but it’s also the day that our daughter Sophie and all of her classmates profess their faith at Church as they are confirmed. If you’re not sure what it means to be confirmed in the church it’s to step forward and say that you are standing with Jesus. It’s something that they’ve been studying for ten weeks now and what they’re studying is to get the tools they need to be able to withstand the valley’s on their Christian walk. As a parent, Cindy and I are very proud of the steps that Sophie is taking in her life. She is doing something that neither Cindy nor I ever did, and in many ways, she is showing her Christian Spirit better than I ever did at her age.
As I said, it is also my Grandma and Grandpa’s wedding anniversary. While they are both gone, I still remember the date — today is their 76th wedding anniversary. Here are two pictures of them that I think you will enjoy.
Of course, there are things that we are concerned about. Cindy’s Uncle Ted is getting slowly worse; Cindy’s cousin needs a total knee replacement; my brother-in-law Jerry had to have his knee operated on; and our friend Elisha is facing back surgery. But, despite all of these things, we still rejoice, because we understand that we know who we can count on to help us through these hard times — Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
My friends, this world is not an easy place to live in. So many temptations, so much anger and hatred and violence and evil. If there is ever a time to turn to God, it is in this day and age. That is why I am so excited and happy for Sophie and her classmates — they are making a life decision that will help them for the rest of their lives! And for that, my friends, I give thanks and rejoice to the Lord.
What do you have going on in your life that you are rejoicing over? Let us know, and thanks for stopping by! Now, please pray with us the prayer that Jesus taught His Disciples to pray:
Our Father, who art in Heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy Will be done, On earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the Kingdom, and the Power, and the Glory forever and ever.
