95 Days: Collecting Disney Dollars

Disney Dollars

Collecting Disney Dollars has become a fun little pastime for me!

Hello everyone, we’re down to Day 95 in our #DisneyWorldCountdown, and for today, I’m sharing with you a new favorite pastime that I have — collecting Disney Dollars!  These fun little collectibles are great ways to start a new collection for you to have at home, but if you want to give them to your kids for them to spend, they can do that too!  They cost face value, so the $5 Disney Dollar bill you see above costs just that, $5, and that makes it a neat way to get a souvenir without spending a whole lot of greenbacks.  I really like them because they look so much like real money, just done up the Disney way!  As you can see, this particular $5 bill features Daisy Duck and Minnie Mouse on the front, and on the back you see a great picture of Cinderella Castle.

Not all Disney Dollars are the same, though!  I’ve got some $1 Disney Dollars that feature Dumbo on the front and Sleeping Beauty Castle on the back — these special Dollars are to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Disneyland!

You can get the Disney Dollars in $1, $5, and $10 denominations, and if you want to look up more information on them, they have a Frequently Asked Questions page on the Disney Website.  In addition, the website DisneyDollars.net is a great source of information about all the different varieties that have been featured over the years!

Do you collect Disney Dollars?  If so, do you spend them or do you keep them, and if you keep them, how do you display them?  I’d love to know because I’m fairly new to collecting these!  Thanks for stopping by, and go have a great Disney Day!

Disney Stamp Album featuring Donald Duck

Every once in a while I find something unusual to add to my collection of Disneyana. And this item I’m sharing with you today is no exception:

     Donald’s Hobby

I picked this up at a little antique store near where I live. It came with many stamps, but I’ve since added greatly to its contents.

Inside pages

The idea is to get the stamps pictured here and stick them over the black and white images, thus assuring that you will have the complete set.

I’ve added pages that don’t require sticking the stamps, so that they can be removed for viewing.

Once I purchased this album, I ended up on a stamp kick, buying every one I could find. I was delighted to find this card of very special ones:

Walt Disney with a line of Small World children heading for the Castle in the sky

Stamp collecting isn’t as popular as it once was, but if it has a Disney theme, I’ll buy it! I hope this post gets your stamp of approval (sorry).

Actually, I’m going to let you pick your favorite tag line to end the post. Will it be:

Stamp Collecting: Lick’em and Stick’em!

Stamp Collecting: You just can’t lick it!

Stamp Collecting: Meh.

Disney Memories

What will be our next favorite Disney Memory?

Disney Memory

We’ve shared one incredible Disney Memory after another…What’s Next?

Hello my friends!  Thank you for continuing to join us as we explore our favorite Disney Memories!  We have had one incredible Disney Memory after another in our exploration, and now, we are looking ahead to our next trip this June.  I have some good ideas on what our next round of Disney Memories will revolve around.  Let’s take a look at what I think will happen, and after our trip, we’ll see how close I was…

Disney Memory

Our next Disney Vacation!

For starters, our next Disney vacation is going to join old and new, best friends from both coasts…on the one hand, Sophie will be going to Walt Disney World with her oldest friend, the friend that she’s had since the day she was born — her BFF Riley.  It’s an incredible thing, but these two fit together as friends like a glove to a hand.  They always have fun when they see one another, and they’ll be friends all their life, of that I have absolutely no doubt.  Our first trip to Disney as a family was in 2005 when Riley and her family invited us to join them and stay with them at their timeshare, and Riley and Sophie had so much fun at the Disney that in 2008 Riley was able to join us to celebrate Sophie’s birthday at the Magic Kingdom.  Here’s just a couple of pictures from that trip…

Busted!

So, with these two, nothing but the best of times.

But that’s not all! We’ve also got new friends to add to our group!  Last year, when we went to Disneyland, we met a blogging friend of mine, Sheila from Cooking Underwriter, and her husband Randy and their daughter Miss J.  We hit it off right then and there, the girls had the best time, they are kindred spirits, and we have been seeing them via FaceTime or Skype ever since!  So when Cindy and I were planning our trip, it became perfectly natural to see if it was at all possible for them to join us.  Fortunately, it was, and we have been in planning mode ever since Christmas!

The great thing about this is that our close friends are joining us to celebrate Sophie’s birthday in June…our little girl will officially be a teenager, this little girl who was born seven weeks early and was only 4 pounds, 2 ounces at birth is now a young lady.  For Cindy and I, it means the world to us that our closest friends are able to join us to celebrate our daughter’s birthday.  We have a lot of great activities planned, everything from a Wishes Dessert Party to dinners all over the World, to a trip to that other park to see some Wizard (Cindy and I are going to hang at WDW), and even more!

Until then, though, please answer this for me: “When is your next trip to Walt Disney World, Disneyland, or any of the other Disney Parks, and what special memory are you hoping to unlock when you get there?”

Thank you for stopping by, now go out and make it a great Disney Day!
