Tiggerific Tuesday Trivia – The Tree of Life!

My Dreams of Disney, Tree of Life, Animal Kingdom

Hello, and welcome back to Tiggerific Tuesday Trivia, Tree of Life edition!  This weekly series is put on in conjunction with my friends Jodi from Magical Mouse Schoolhouse, Heidi from Heidi’s Head, and Jenn from Disney Babies Blog!  I’m Mike from My Dreams of Disney, welcoming you to our site!  At the end of the post you will find links to the other sites, why not click on them and hop right on over to see what their trivia is for this week!

My trivia for this week comes from the book “Disney Trivia from the Vault” by Dave Smith — the Chief Archivist Emeritus of The Walt Disney Archives!

Thumbing through the book, I found a question from Kaitlyn from Mount Holly, NJ, who asked:

“Is there a list somewhere of all the animals carved into the Tree of Life? I’ve searched high and low and can’t seem to find one.”

Did you know, the Tree of Life…

contains 325 animals carved into the tree!  While Disney has not released a list of all of the animals located on the tree (they want guests to have as much fun as possible finding the animals) — they certainly did take a great amount of time and effort into putting so many carvings into the structure!

That wraps things up for me this week!  Thank you all for stopping by and seeing the trivia that I have for you this week!  If you have a blog, and want to write your own Trivia post, please feel free to do so and link it up with all of ours!  Thanks everyone, and have a great one!  If I don’t hear from you, I hope that you and your family have an absolutely wonderful Thanksgiving, and that all the blessings you so richly deserve are yours to be had!  Be safe, everyone!

Disney Movies Online closing it’s doors

Disney, Disney Movies Online

I just received this email about Disney Movies Online.  I have never done much with DMO, but some of you may have, so I thought I would take a moment to alert you in case you were unaware.

Dear Guest,

Disney Movies Online is closing on December 31st. As part of this change, purchases, upgrades, and Magic Code entries can no longer be made on the Disney Movies Online website. You can continue to stream your existing movies until December 31st.

You can still enter Magic Codes on DisneyMovieRewards.com, and Disney Movies Rewards services will not be interrupted. You can also continue to use your Disney member name and password to access and enjoy other Disney websites. In addition, if you purchased a Disney Combo pack with Digital Copy, your Digital Copy can still be transferred and watched from either iTunes or Windows Media Player. Please visit our FAQs for more details.

We truly appreciate your support of our service—we have enjoyed serving you!

Best regards,
The Disney Movies Online Team

For more information about Disney Movies Online and their closing, you can read about it at the Disney Movies Online News page.

Disney In Pictures Theme: Thankful Things!

Hello everyone, thanks for stopping by!  It’s Thanksgiving week here in the United States, I hope you all have a wonderful, safe holiday, and remember all of the things that you are thankful for!  I am thankful for (among other things) all of you stopping by and visiting on a daily basis!  On that thought, our Disney In Pictures theme for this week is “Thankful Things!”  Much like we did for Veterans Day, this theme is opened up to all of you for whatever you are thankful for!  If it’s at Disney related, that’s just a bonus, but it doesn’t have to be!

  1. Dig through your photos, and find a few pictures that epitomize what you are thankful for.
  2. Email them to me at mickey@mydreamsofdisney.com, and include your name, why the picture is special to you, and your blog if you have one!
  3. Then, check back on Sunday to see your photos proudly displayed!

As a side note, I’ll have plenty of things to talk about this week, including a special Thanksgiving post for Thursday, so I hope you’ll stick around in between turkey eating and Christmas shopping to see what great things we have for you!  Who knows, you may even find a thing or two here on the site that you may want to turn into Christmas presents for this year!

Lastly, on Friday I’ll be part of a special Black Friday Contest, so look for more details about that this week as well!  The host is my friend Jonathan from Mousekejournals and Mouse and Memos, if you haven’t seen those sites yet, go check them out!  They are well designed and full of great Disney information!

Once again, I hope you all have a wonderful, safe Thanksgiving!  Send in those photos, and thanks for stopping by!

Our Favorites: Peter Pans Flight!

When it comes to the attractions at Walt Disney World, especially at the Magic Kingdom, there are few rides that compare with the excitement we get when we ride Peter Pans Flight, which is located in Fantasyland.  With Peter Pans Flight, you get it all — a great trip into the classic story of Peter Pan, your own flying galleon to sail off into the night sky with, and a swashbuckling adventure!

It always amazes me that the Imagineers were able to make such a realistic attraction.  From the moment you take off, the use of forced perspective makes it seem as if you are truly flying!  Of course, the Imagineers did create the ride so that your galleon is suspended from a track over your head, which certainly does make it easier to feel like you are flying!

Disney did a great job with this attraction because you are able to navigate through several different scenes in the story, including the one that includes the mermaids!

Peter Pan is a crowd favorite at Walt Disney World, that’s for sure!  Fortunately, there are fast pass tickets available, but they do go fast, so make sure you grab yours or you’ll be waiting until 10PM to ride the attraction!  One thing I am hopeful will make a difference is that the folks at Disney are redoing the queue area for Peter Pans Flight.  They are turning it into an interactive queue is what I’ve heard, so hopefully that will help with some of the line issues they have experienced with the attraction.

Peter Pans Flight is a family favorite of ours, so much so that my wife Cindy indicated that it would be one of the things she would do if she had an extra three hours in the park by herself — she would ride Peter Pans Flight with Peter Pan himself!

What does your family think of Peter Pans Flight?  Why not answer the poll below and let me know, and thanks for stopping by!
